Yay, nice to see the "missing" tribe (missing from spoilers, anyway, at least relatively, in comparison to the other tribes for which we've been seeing a lot of cards lately).
The goblins seem more hateful than the other tribes; two of those cards specifically target other tribes. Considering the name of Hornet Harasser, I'm almost surprised it doesn't target Insects in some way (I guess R&D didn't want to do that because Insects are not prominent in the set of Lorwyn).
The other two Goblins here continue the theme of Goblins really being related to the graveyard in this set (because of their color). There's nice mirroring here with respect to the triggered effect: for Hornet Harasser, you get a benefit, and for Exiled Boggart, you get a drawback (well, at least it's a drawback unless the discarded card has madness or something like that).
- Jon Finkel Facts: (follow the link at left to see more Facts, or add more Facts!)
- Chuck Norris counted to infinity twice—because he was trying to count how much damage Jon Finkel deals in an average game.
- Jon Finkel believes in maintaining a healthy, balanced diet. He gets all his fiber from eating Magic cards for breakfast, and all his protein from eating Magic players for lunch.
These are pretty bad compared to the other tribes. I guess they were very cautious while designing goblins this time around. Some may find good use in limited games, if even that.

Bog hoodlums must be one of the worst cards I've seen in a while. Costs 6 mana can't block and has a toughness of 1 (2 max). Must be a good friend of Chimney imp.

On the plus-side, adder-staff boggart is the first real constructed playable goblin we've seen from this batch. Potential 3/2 for 2? Sign me up, that's way ahead of red's normal curve. And even if it whiffs, it still's a 2/1 that sorta scry's you one.

could see some play, if only because it occasionally shows up as a 3/2, and it gives you another clash effect, if that ends up mattering.

That really struck me as well, especially after seeing the 1B 3/1 flying faerie in the other post, and Adder-Staff Boggart :1mana::symr:, who is at least balanced by comparison. I hate goblins as much as the next standard onslaught player, but Bog Hoodlums REALLY got the short end of the stick. Still, if goblins wind up getting the worse chaff of the set, then all my unholy sacrifices to the dark lords behind MtG desing will not have been in vain... yes, I despise goblins enough to spill goat blood in the name of their ruin

"Dark Ritual, Hypnotic Specter, Hymn to Tourach. If there is an unholy trio in Magic, this is it. These three cards have been wreaking havoc and crushing dreams for over a decade. They're like the New York Yankees, except powered by black magic. Oh, wait... never mind." Chris Millar House of Cards
Nath’s Buffoon [MANA]1B[/card]- not fantastic but a cheap creature with protection from one of the main tribes is going to see play in limited.
Quill-Slinger Boggart3B- too expensive for constructed, if it had costed 2B it would have made the cut.
Exiled Boggart1B- limited filler a bear with a drawback is nothing new to black and this is nothing special in that regard.
Hornet Harasser2BB- limited playable but a double sized Festering Goblin should not cost 4 times the cost. Again if only it had cost 1BB it could have made the cut in constructed.
Boggart Sprite-Chaser1R- Interesting card, reminds me of Cloudreach Cavalry and probably like the cavalry will appear decent but see no real play.
Caterwauling Boggart3R- Well the effect is solid but the 2/2 for 4 factor comes into play again, at 3cc it would have been playable. Relatively nice in limited though.
Adder-Staff Boggart1R- A solid card, it's a 2 toughness creature for 2 even without the clash and if you win the clash it's a 3 toughness creature for 2 breaking the curve(especially in red) with no drawback.
Bog Hoodlums5B- An ugly card, too expensive, too vulnerable and even if you win the clash it's still too expensive and vulnerable for the cost.
Ahhh the Sprite Chaser! Stay away from my innocent Fae!
A 2/3 flyer for :1mana::symr: as long as you control a Fae? Fun stuff, flavor is excellent. Good for a U/R Fae/Goblin deck space. If you are not going the U/B route for a Fae deck, the creature list becomes smaller so they made it interact with other tribes to expand on deck design. Nice job.
I like the interaction cards of this set. They seem to imply they actually took the time to involve all the tribes together in a weaving pattern of sorts.

And why not go the B/R route? Seems a lot better right now since most of the blue fairies aren't as aggressive as the black ones.

If you don't influence it, clash is less than 50%. Because in two decks with exactly the same curve (and boggarts won't have a higher curve than many), you're quite likely to hit the same cost as them (in which case you won't win), or you'll both hit land (same). That said, Adder-Staff is probably good enough for limited. The black clash gobbo reeks of Dripping Dead. Ewwww.
it looks like bog hoodlums was made to win clashes...and not much else. that gives me an idea. maybe there's a goblin card, an enchantment, that allows you to use cards from your hand for the clash instead of the top card of the library. but that's just speculation.
ader staff seems to be the best of the lot there, in a red deck wins deck this guy prob has a 50/50 chance of being a 3/2 for 2. if it was an elemental instead of a goblin i'd have said its an auto include
Why do the goblins care about all the other tribes? It makes them much weaker than what we've seen of the others tribes.
Two words, Magic Lore.
Goblins are chaotic. (I don't know the second alignment) They can help or hinder, depending on the situation or mood they are in, whether on accident or on purpose. With that in mind they can serve either beneficial or malicious purposes on a whim. Hoohah.
Very full of flavor-y goodness on somewhat normal cards.

I thought you had posted that they were neutral...
Anyhow, such alignments are D&D ones, yes? I don't see why Magic and stuff that pertains to Magic must be referred to as such.
My two cents worth: Nath's Buffoon - sideboard, limited. I can't really envision how it's going to help ameliorate one's being swarmed by "numbers matter" Elves. Quill-Slinger Boggart - a tad costly. Like Nath's Buffoon, limited and sideboard. Exiled Boggart - uh, so reminiscent of Goblin Firebug. Yet another efficient, 2/2 for 2 CMC Goblin with a downside. Becomes a 2/2 for 1B in the late-game, in which (what is more or less) a 2/2 vanilla is unwanted. Hornet Harasser - too costly and weak. Boggart Sprite-Chaser - interesting... I suppose this will work with some of the black Faeries. Caterwauling Boggart - what??? I suppose this is only good if you have superior numbers, and good in Elemental decks, in which the Elementals sport large stats. Adder-Staff Boggart - nice; better than Goblin Piker. Bog Hoodlums - I don't get the flavour, and I don't see why this is (/has to be?) so bad.
I wonder if there will be cards that get players to clash more than once, other than that
Thanks Hunter and sources.

Those 4 mana cards are just to expensive, but I like the Quill-Slinger:
It punished a Kithkin player and has synergy if you play them yourself.

Whoops, messed up on the quill-slinger, it's also a limited hoser.
Exiled Boggart is a black version of Goblin Firebug, and equally as unplayable.
The hornet harasser is another good limited card, bigger Festering goblin. Would have been good at BB or 2B, too expensive at 2BB.

Time to let some other tribes have the spotlight like oh lets say Treefolk or Kithkin.
I will be a happy man if goblins get crap in this set I got sick of them during Onslaught T2.
Anyways onto the cards the prot elves one is quite funny the other are pretty much limited fodder.
Feel free to bid on my cards here!
Boggart Sprite-Chaser seems to go well with that 1cc 1/1 flying fae
