Gaddock Teeg is EXTREMELY good. This guy is going to fundamentally alter the dynamics between aggro and control for years to come. Get your playsets while they're still affordable.
Chandra seems like the best of the Planeswalkers we've seen so far. Her ultimate ability is really cool. Ain't no problem that a good explosion can't fix.
The treefolk is going to be a casual card I think simply because it has a high mana cost and is dependent on having some other (probably also costly) creatures in play to truly effective.
I don't understand why some people are just mulling over Teeg, saying he'll just get terror'd or pacted or killed in some way then you'll wrath. The problem is that he's going to turn all your mass removal useless until you deal with him, and if the other board is him and a goyf, and you've got 1 terror in hand, what do you do? I'm certianly not going to overcommit because this guys on the board, this guy is a card thats going to make your wrath effect not a x for 1, but an x for 2, because you'll have to kill him first. trust me when I say he'll be around pissing you off for years, just like Goyf
Gaddock Teeg is crazy good. Teeg is 'create a new archetype where there previously was none' good. He WILL see play. Expect to see him alot at states this fall.
Chandra is better than Vess but worse than Garruk. I was disappointed that her first ability can't hit creatures. However, her second is quite interesting, and will prove her quite playable. And, of course, the ability to act as a double lava axe is quite nice. The damage to your opponent's creatures isn't even relevant... the game is over by then.
Timber Protector is definitely a brick house in limited. Don't know about constructed, however. With alot of support and Battlewand Oak powerlevel creatures he could be playable in block, but it feels quite doubtful. He does a good job of creating an immensely immovable board position, that much is for certain. That might prove excellent in a format full of creatures.

"One skilled at battle takes a stand in the ground of no defeat
And so does not lose the enemy's defeat.
Therefore, the victorious military is first victorious and after that does battle.
The defeated military first does battle and after that seeks victory."
Gaddock forces you to have a smaller direct spell (terror) to deal with him, before you can damnation. big deal.
still a 2/2 for 2 isnt bad.
I cant imagine what non creature spells that cost X i've ever been worried about other than demonfire, but i guess that's a nice bonus. Maybe every color gets an X spell tourney worthy next set.
demonfire rotates out.
Uh... Chord of Calling (even though it's rotating... just thought I'd point that out). And Molten Disaster to a lesser extent. And there's always a Blaze variant out there.

Always accepting ideas for a new title! PM me with your ideas.
There is supposed to be a balance Fui. Even meddling mage is susceptible to the same stuff you are saying.
Yea, who plays meddling mage naming swords of plowshares?
This guy like meddling mage isn't exactly the best type 2 card but it may see play in combo heavy decks as it has really good disruption with bear beats.
it makes me sad that Teeg is going to be in such demand; as a casual player, I want some myself, and it isnt looking like the price will be reasonable.
I will pay anyway. Kithkin!

'..they imagine their gift is to meddle and rule, while they worship their reflection in a social cesspool..'
I love it! It'll be a lot harder to just wipe away those weenies this year. I'm sure Teeg will have tons of support. Unfortunately, he doesn't have Teferi's body or colors to keep him around. I like the idea of spot removal battles going on. Card-for-card! And then, after, you wrath.
The Treefolk is what I've been waiting for since Darksteel. Its a shame its in THAT creature type, but... I guess it means I have to build it around Treefolk then.
Chandra is loev. I already knew she was going into my casual red deck before she was revealed.

Underling Ethu's 263rd report read simply "Yes, my lord.Overwhelmingly, my lord." This marked the end of the Mirran-Phyrexian War.
I just realized. Mycoloth perfectly demonstrates the devour mechanic.
Mycoloth: NOMNOMNOM on Dragon Fodder.
One turn later, 1/1 turds come out.

Jon Finkel can simply walk into Mordor.
"When an artist dies the world loses two lives, that of the artist and that of his unfinished work."
Teeg is absolutely absurd. Teeg is the kind of card that warps formats around it and makes people build decks in different ways to contain it. No wraths, no teachings, no Aeon Chronicler, no Korlash, no Planeswalkers... You see where I'm going. In a aggro deck, you can easily work around his drawback. Not to mention, the board position of him with Saffi is ridiculous.
Even if Teeg isn't heavily played for whatever reason (but I'm sure he will find his way into many decks), just the mere presence of the card warps the format. Every control deck has to make sure it can beat a turn two Teeg followed up by a Saffi consistently and they have to cut down on their cards that cost four or more.
Wow, we really got some nice preview cards for the 1st day and not one of them was known(beyond Chandra's name anyway).
Gaddock: WG weenie has a nice new legendary friend, It won't do much against Damnation decks since black decks also run Terror/Slaughter Pact style cards, but its a major nuisance to Wrath of God type decks who often don't have additional targetted removal(or only have Condemn). The deck it hurts the most is probably Green Beatdown decks, who can't deal with it by removal and who suddenly loose the powerful finishers like Spectral Force and Ironwood Invocation.
Timber Protector: Wow, the treefolk tribe gains yet more power, i'm now convinced to try making a treefolk deck. This Battlewand Oak, Verdeloth, the Ancient, Heartwood Storyteller, Deadwood Treefolk and best of all Dryad Arbor (which becomes a free 1/1 indestructible with this in play) all add up to a very solid basis for a Treefolk deck in standard(Sheltering Ancient and Scarwood Treefolk are also boarderline playable).
Chandra: Some fantastically sexy looking art, 3RR for the highest initial loyalty yet (6), a pinging ability for +(1) loyalty(which also works against other planeswalkers), a creature only Blaze for -(X) and best of all a one sided 10 damage to target player and all his creatures for -(8) which is very achievable requiring only 2 turns pinging to get the mana for it.
The deck it hurts the most is probably Green Beatdown decks, who can't deal with it by removal and who suddenly loose the powerful finishers like Spectral Force and Ironwood Invocation.
Read the card again.
It is going to mess up the way people build decks. I'm not sure how well it'd do in sealed (mainly because we don't know all of the cards :P)
the next evolution of a popular cycle from Mirage
a 10/2 creature for (okay, there might be another cost)
a green enchantment that can keep the 10/2 from hurting you
a cycle of creatures that lets you use a resource first seen in Unglued
a card that makes all your Treefolk indestructible (I know you already know it; it's still cool)
a white answer for any bothersome nonland permanent
a Shapeshifter lord
an artifact that lets you play spells for free
lands that provide two colors of mana and can come into play untapped
and a card that finally cares about Goats
the Mirage mystery: I did some checking and I have to say that Mirage had a number of excellent cycles. It had the uncommon Tutor cycle, a cycle of Charms, and a cycle of fetchlands. I have to say that I'd love the fetchlands right about now.
the green enchantment: Green has limited ways of stopping damage. It had the Holy Day thing for a while but nothing similar has been produced in a long time. Green's solution to damage to you is usually just life gain while its solution to damage dealt to creatures usually involves +1/+1 counters.
Unglued?: Maybe its the d6 thing from all the Chicken cards. I have to say that it would be fun to use dice for something other than keeping life or rolling to see who goes 1st. Truthfully, the d6 mechanic is one of the few things from Unglued that makes practical sense but hasn't been on a legal card yet.
white destruction/counter/discard?: Saltblast? White doesn't usually destroy non-creature permanents(anymore) but hey why not. The card Maro mentioned could be a counter or even discard, though the latter is highly unlikely.
Shapeshifter lord: Its a big relief to know there's going to be more than 1 shapeshifter. I hope there's one in every color and rarity. I luv cycles.
Goats: I hope the card that cares about Goats is a Goblin. We know how much Goblins love goats.
Lair of the Giants
Tribal Land - Giant T: Add 1 to your mana pool. T: Add R or W to your mana pool. Use this mana only to play Giant spells or activated abilities of Giants.
I don't just play ANY spells -- I play Giant spells.
the Mirage mystery: I did some checking and I have to say that Mirage had a number of excellent cycles. It had the uncommon Tutor cycle, a cycle of Charms, and a cycle of fetchlands. I have to say that I'd love the fetchlands right about now.
I really wish they'd give up on the charms already O_o
I mean we just had a cycle of them in PC, it's getting old already...
A tribal tutor cycle would be kinda cool tho', even if it is a pipe dream.
and a card that finally cares about Goats
Makes up for all the BSing tho' ^^

Hey, lolis with katanas are awesome, and I don't care about their home country.
Does anybody else get that "a cycle of creatures that lets you use a resource first seen in Unglued" will revolve around Urza's Hot Tub?
That card is from Unhinged though!
Also, is MaRo talking about a cycle from mirage directly, or mirage block?
slow fetchlands? charms? guildmages, diamonds, djinn/efreets, tutors, "on top of owners library" cards, world enchantments, colour matters stuff, flanking?
I love the new legend seeing I mark for them in sets. Seeing some use with this in my legend deck because I run lots of low enchantments and artifacts under 3. Also it be cool against those big burn or bad cards out there. The only thing I need to do is think what card to pull now.
As for the Planeswalker she is hot and proves it with her effects. I was so close on the big power I was expecting Urza's Rage type power, but this is as good. The card will be going in my burn deck thats for sure seeing its legasy and I run Seething Song. (Evil laugh)

Highly, to extremely, unlikely.
I am thinking something along the lines of (BETTER BE UNCOMMON CYCLE)
Kithkin Manor
Land
Kithkin Manor comes into play tapped unless you control a Kithkin.
:symtap:: Add or to your mana pool.
I'll work on the others later...LOVE the cards!

What if it came into play unless you tapped an untapped kithkin you control? That would be more fair, and totally kick arse IMOP.
They couldn't do a full cycle like that, is there going to even be a red/green tribe?
