This is irritating. I hope that was just a typo, and he meant to say "Lorwyn," otherwise it's looking more and more like Jelly's big twist is going to be "Surprise! It really is just a continuation of Lorwyn block! Gotcha!"

"Surprise! It really is just a continuation of Lorwyn block! Gotcha!"
Elves, Giants, Elementals, Kithkin, Merfolk, Faeries, Treefolk, and Goblins were all in Time Spiral block too.
Elves' existence in the next 'block', which is likely on the same plane does not mean that the themes of the sets will be incredibly similar.

In this picture from JJ's article, it can clearly be read that "Jelly elves favor symmetry", which means there are indeed elves in Jelly.
Uh, I'm pretty sure he's referring to symmetry in an aesthetic sense, not in a gameplay sense. This is, after all, a walkthrough of Lorwyn's styleguide, and I don't think they'd be dropping hints for upcoming sets in a concept sketch.

People hiss and grunt at Mark Rosewater for the state of the game. Few realize, though, that it is Aaron Forsythe who is directly responsible of the current state of affairs due to negligence as head of Magic R&D and a completely skewed view of the game as a whole.
So next time you want to make an avvy with Rosewater pissing on something, take a deep breath and consider pasting Forsythe's face there instead...

We already know that Jelly block is going to be more tightly tied to Lorwyn block than any two blocks have ever been. Therefore, of course, most, and probably all, of Lorwyn's tribes will be represented in Jelly. Though, I doubt they'll be represented in the same way, or that Jelly will be so much of a tribal block.
My guesses on things that will make Jelly not just a continuation of Lorwyn:
Jelly will be darker (both in color and content)
Jelly will use the Lorwyn tribes in different ways
Jelly will have many creatures other than just those in the tribes (like a goat or two, perhaps?)
Jelly will just feel different from Lorwyn, though will also feel connected. Jelly block will definitely feel like it ties into Lorwyn, but not like it is just sets 3 and 4.
More elves? I'm gonna have to sig myseld, but doesn't WotC get tired of elves? They always claim that dwarves' stereotypes are too hard to break, and that's why they don't do them, but if they spended half the effort they spend on elves and goblins on dwarves, they could have already gotten something.
WotC realizes that if they made a set with Dwarves, that they would over-power the rest of the formats that they were legal in. For that and many other reasons, Dwarves will continue to be mistreated by WotC.

In Vintage (Type 1) > Budget Deck Discussion forum:
What we're doing here is akin to taking the text of Moby Dick, locating specific words therein, rearranging them to create a passage from Fight Club, and concluding from this evidence that Tyler Durden is based on Ahab.
The entire article seemed to heavily imply that all the tribes will be present in Jelly, with the way he uses the Peanut descriptor to specify where they are from, which makes me think that the art styles were submitted at the same time.
The symmetry/asymmetry factor between the elves seems to indicate a color shift, but may be purely aesthetic. Still, GW elves sounds more appealing than GW kithkin.
No, no one else...oh, that's right, I beat you all to the punch on the first page!
Ha. I didn't get it until you quoted yourself. I liked hamtastic's more in terms of the conjured mental image, but yours is a little bit more direct and easy to understand.
Slightly of topic, but they do the two set one block thing now for two blocks. Last time we've had a set which finished a block. Coldsnap. They will probably do the same with these two blocks. But whatever.
About the types and so, offcourse it will be the same types in Jelly. True, but probably others too. But it doesn't mean it will be the same. Look at odyssee and Onslaught. Same Plane, not quite same sets, were they now?

hey i have managed to evolve my axolotls by feeding them thyroid glands the thyroxine contained in these gland is enough to change these water dwelling creatures into land based creatures

Tay, that's not evolution. It's metamorphosis. Evolution means descent with heritable modification – individuals cannot evolve, unless they're Pokemon.

I don't know, just some thoughts.
Why does Jelly have to lose the tribal theme? Lorwyn is focussing on race for tribal, Jelly could be class tribal, after all if you look at the classes that are represented so far they are tied (not lots of random). The only reason to not suspect this is Maro's comments around different themes for the 2 blocks and Lorwyn is tribal but we all know these things change, they are simply the non-negotiables at that time.
Class would be enough distinction to feel different but keep races and keywords could be flavoured different and then we also have the most inter-connected blocks yet!
Could even be the other side of Lorwyn where class evolved over race for society.....
I read the style guide note about symmetry/asymmetry too, but I think they may have changed their mind since writing that. All the elf art we've seen so far doesn't indicate any asymmetry to me, in fact everything about their clothes/hair/horns seems pretty symmetrical. I'd consider the possibility that they flipped things around, and Lorywn elves are symmetrical while Jelly elves are asymmetrical.

I was thinking the same thing, especially since "perfect" implies symmetrical.
Another thing which speaks to this is that somewhere we have the connection that Lorwyn is the plane where Memnarch took elves to populate Mirrodin, and Glissa and her kin are not the Perfect horned elves of Peanut + Butter, but perhaps the outcast elves we may see in Jelly/Donut.
radically different versions of tribes from lorwyn...could that possibly mean goblin riggers in jelly?

While Wizards claimed that contraptions are a joke, Merfolk in Lorwyn prove that they are willing to listen to players. If enough people will say that they want Riggers and Contraptions, I believe that Wizards will give in eventually. But - not in Jelly. When Future Sight came out, Jelly would be already done. It's more likely that it's graveyard-themed block with Delve as one of main mechanics, as I heard being speculated here.

I know the seeds are sown, but that could easily be the block after. From the cards we've seen so far they are really pushing creatures in this block (understandable given it's tribal) which means they need to keep a creature theme in Jelly.
My main reason for this is that any non-creature theme in Jelly would then pit the 2 blocks against each other and go back to the block mechanic A vs block mechanic B which is the one thing R&D have really tried to change over the last few years.
Also a graveyard theme would take away the advantage the goblins have in this block (as they interact with the graveyard so much). This would either make their (mega-block) power degenerate or they would need to print more powerful goblins, which after Onslaught and their hold over standard I find doubtful.
Also why are there so many zombie creatures in Tenth but none in Lorwyn............
Also why are there so many zombie creatures in Tenth but none in Lorwyn............
'Cuz people love zombies. Tenth was definitely designed with Lorwyn and Jelly in mind, but people shouldn't assume every part of the set has to do with its interactions with other simultaneous blocks.

oh yeah, forgot that they made sets so early...
delve was by far my favorite FS (possibly even TS block) mechanic so, i would absolutely love to see more of it.
the elves do look pretty cool in jelly, though, we'll see if they're better than the lorwyn ones spoiled so far...

Nothing says budget help like receiving $5000 in recommendations.
I guess leaving out Time Walk, Timetwister, and Ancestral Recall is budget.

Not me. I prefer elves roasted, with a light coating of barbecue sauce.
