This also wreaks all sorts of weird havoc on firebreathing (now worthless), butt-pump (or whatever the formal name is for W: Gets +0/+1 til end of turn) and combat tricks (Gift of Granite FTW).
What is it with the power level of this set?! Is it just me, or is this going to be one screwed up couple of years?! Ummm...my Urza's Block cards would like a word with this Mr. Lorwyn fellow...he seems to be stealing at least some of the thunder. A 5/5 for 3? In a set that's giving us color fixing that Ravnica would have killed itself for? (at the common/uncommon slots...) And Boggart Shananigans? More fuel for your fire?
At first glance this card is great, but when I looked at it again it isn't that good. OK it's a 5/5 for 3 mana. But you need the 3 colors which is gona be hard. And plus it is legendary.
What a delightful card! I can see turn one Llanowar Augur, turn two Wall of Roots, turn three Doran, the Siege Tower being quite fun in a casual setting. Good times ahead.
wow, this is crazy nuts. the mana isn't going to be that difcult. Birds, Joiner, teramorphic, the new lands that come into play untapped if you reveal the corisponding creature type, and plus the CIPT lands that have to gemstone counters on them. This guy is going to see alot of turn two's and turn three's all across the meta. and here i thought they were going to slow the meta down....as other have said before, go go ornothopter!!!
Mad, Rabid, Frothing-at-the-Mouth, Toughness-for-Power switched Treefolk FTW!! Heck...even the Birds you cast turn 1 are now Flying Men to the dome! And Garruk? Umm..yes sir...I'll take a Turn 5 Alpha FTW!!!
This guy just makes up for the fail of planewalkers.
LIES!!!!
You have no idea, which is good, it just means that's more Planeswalkers that you aren't hording until everyone else wants them in about 3-4 months when control catches on again after aggro wreaks it's havoc.
Muahaha I love the economy of this game, it's so easy to predict.

I really, really like this card, but the colors are saddening to the point of probably not being playable.
Did you miss all the lands spoiled so far?
There seems to be an above-average bit of color-fixing/filtering in this set, to push for these tribes.
(Turn one, play Treefolk/Elf/Kithkin land, reveal this guy or one of those tribes, play llanowar or bop.
Turn two, play any other perspective land, play this guy.)
I think that the lack of gold cards in onslaught block was seen as a mistake, and they fully aim to fix that mistake in Lorwyn. It isn't so much as a push towards multicolor decks, as it is multicolor tribal strategies.

*GASP* Greatness on a freakin piece of cardboard... This is now my favorite card. EEEEK it almost makes me want to forget how much I want Tarmogoyf =p. Thank God for Birds of Paradise.
Did I just hear Horizon Canopy go up in price again? I think I did.
That land card is probably going to make this Tree come online faster. Maybe Shimmering Grotto might help you out or the Coalition Relic. It is kinda fun seeing this power come from no where. Though scary at the same time.
Edit: Not to mention the slew of other mana fixers currently in standard.

Tarmogoyf costs $50, so he has to be played in your tournament deck. Otherwise everyone will laugh at you. You will be brought to the head judge's table where they will publicly humiliate you over the PA. You will have "LOL...WTF!" stamped on your DCI card in big red letters at the door on your way out.

This guy makes me hope that the sheer level of overall awesomeness in Lorwyn will lower the collective average prices of all the cards. With so many cool things, there will hopefully not end up being any cards that rocket up in price because of being universally played (Goyf, anyone?).

They call me Hadoken 'cause I'm down-right fierce.
Turn 1 birds, turn 2 this guy? Well, that certainly sounds pretty darn good in the early game. Love the flavour of this guy more than anything, though.
Amazing. Wall of Roots, Birds, just got a lot better. You can play defensively AND aggressively with this guy. Too bad Oathsworn Giant is rotating out!!!
He'll be tough to burn, can't terror him, really tough to deal with if he hits (which is likely on turn 2 or 3 in the right decks for Standard) He'll be in the same deck as Teeg which makes mass removal even tougher to pull off as well..
Gentlemen, behold, the return of good old fashioned combat phases of yore! I know it won't happen, but this makes me think the noob-days of blindly attacking and thinking the worst you'd get hit with is a Fog are back!
I'm going to have so many standard decks built... I see it now.

Underling Ethu's 263rd report read simply "Yes, my lord.Overwhelmingly, my lord." This marked the end of the Mirran-Phyrexian War.
Dude, I am FREAKING OUT over this card. Birds, into Wall of Roots, into a into this plus Spellwild Ouphe or Auguer il-Vec or Llanowar Augur or something else. Man, this cards great. Just absolutely great.
With a small splash of red you can bring in Emblem of the Warmind on turn 2 to put a 5 damage and a 3 damage creature in the red zone turn three. I freaking love this card. Seriously love it.
