Interesting. The cost is certainly working against it, but then again, Teferi's is just as restrictive, and I'm not going to make THAT mistake twice... Anywho, this seems like an incredibly interesting card, and certainly a powerful one. Only time will tell, but I think that this will certainly see some play, if only because of the incredible number of options the card provides. This certainly seems new, interesting, and worth trying out, which means only more excitement from Lorwyn! Huzzah!

Yeah, Yodafan's pretty much a EDH pro.

The already said it was. I'm gonna say this is going to see no play due to A) it beeing a 4 casting cost counter, and B) the tipple blue in it. This card is pretty unplayable except in mono blue. I rather play cancel and dismiss.

What a cool card. It embodies the very essence of blue. I normally hate blue with a fiery passion but I find Cryptic Command rather eloquent. Its the Swiss Army Knife of blue spells. The tapping ability pretty much guarantees this will be played in Pickles. *shudder* This card seems like it would be good in multiplayer too. You can screw over 2 people at once. Counter one person's spell and tap another person's creatures down. Hijinks I tell you!
Edit: I just read the name of Mike's article: A Swiss Army Knife...Squared. I swear I came to the comparison on my own though.

Kind of like teferi is unplayable except in monoblue?
I was originally going to post something like "..." or maybe ":o". But then my post would have gotten deleted and more importantly the card deserves so much more discussion than that, but literally- I was speechless (textless, typeless, whatever).
I haven't been so excited about a blue instant since... probably Echoing Truth (take that Hinder, Remand!) This is literally the card that blue decks everywhere have been waiting for. The loss of Rewind really stings, but this makes up for it and so much more. Playing against aggro? Counter and bounce a land! Playing against control? Counter/Bounce and Draw! I don't see the tapping effect being used very often, but the fact that it is there to get you another untap phase is ridiculously powerful. As for a final comment? I'll go with my initial thoughts:
Well, now we know what MaRo was referring to about the "next evolution" of a popular Mirage cycle: Mega-Charms.
This card is definitely useful under most circumstances, with the potential to be backbreaking. Early on it'll get a threat and gain you some tempo; later on it'll cantrip. The best thing of all is that it's never a dead counter sitting on your hand while you hope to get an answer to resolved threats. This can certainly make for the much-needed replacement to Rewind for Dralnu.
The real question with this card is whether a control deck's mana base can support it. U/W is a bit tricky since Nimbus Maze becomes less reliable once Rav rotates. U/B has it easier with River of Tears, Underground River and the tribe-land, while enemy-color combinations will have a harder time here.
If the black super-charm proves as powerful and flexible as Cryptic Command, Dralnu may become powerful enough to compete once more. Given the natural bias towards creature-based strategies that are to be expected in the metagame, we could be looking at the beginnings of one of the most powerful decks in Standard.
Then again, there's still a lot of Lorwyn to be spoiled...

People hiss and grunt at Mark Rosewater for the state of the game. Few realize, though, that it is Aaron Forsythe who is directly responsible of the current state of affairs due to negligence as head of Magic R&D and a completely skewed view of the game as a whole.
So next time you want to make an avvy with Rosewater pissing on something, take a deep breath and consider pasting Forsythe's face there instead...
Unbelievably awesome. This card is impossible to play around. No matter where you put your weight, it'll catch you one way or another.
Make no mistake, this will see play. This is far, far, far beyond Dismiss. This is obscenely better than Dismiss could ever hope to be. I cannot WAIT to play with it.

And so does not lose the enemy's defeat.
Therefore, the victorious military is first victorious and after that does battle.

I'm sorry if this has been said before, but has anyone else noticed that the dual colored tribes are exactly like the ones in the Ravnica set? I mean, come on, red-white giants (boros), green-black elves (golgari), black-blue faeries (dimir), white-green kithkin (selesnya).
I just realized...the Type 2 metagame is going to be insane. We will have a bunch of current decks, namely, Sadin Sligh, Kavu Predator, probably Pickles, and blue control builds (permission based) will spawn, in addition to planeswalker-based control decks, and tribal decks. Damn.
damn! i love it!!! what more can you say?!? very versatile while still costed properly... this would most likely make it in constructed... my wait for flores' preview did not disappoint...
A very well designed card, and it will defintely be a staple of any mono blue strategy that might emerge. The big drawback obviously is the triple blue in the mana cost, which is going to make it worthless for just about every other archtype.

You seem to be creating your own links there, I don't remember any Dimir Faeries, and I can't see any similarity (colour aside) between Selesnya and Kithkin...
Back on topic, I can see the red part of the cycle being pretty crazy - Burn and LD in one card? Yes please!
Counterspell + Boomerang for better mana (1UUU vs. UUUU)
Counterspell + Fog(ish) for better mana (1UUU vs. 1UUG)
Counterspell cantrip
Boomerang cantrip
Fog cantrip in blue

I say this is undercosted...

I guess I don't have anything to say that hasn't been said yet, but I definitely approve of this card. I can't wait to see the rest of the cycle. Do you think they will also be 1CCC?

As someone who likes cool cards, I love this card and it screams cool. It also screams ridiculously powerful blue card, and as someone who hates getting their big spells countered, i hate this card and it screams $#@&.
Then again it is part of a cycle (obviously). Here's hoping green doesn't get shafted like it usually does.
...Oh yeah the triple blue makes this unplayable unless its mono-blue playing it.
Heheh, now there is the synergy needed for Wanderwine Profits that some people wanted. People seem to overlook the "Tap all creatures your opponent controls." Now its all gravy for that combo/control deck to take shape.
So we have Dismiss now though its rare. Gah. I am not all for that idea but considering how much synergy/power is on the blue uber charm I cant say it wasn't expected. Still need 4 of those.
Edit:People should read the articles more often. The writers usually write out deck ideas below the card they preview. Especially Flores, on more then one occasion.

I think this will be played very much so because of its versatility. any mono blue deck should be packing four ofs.
Thanks to AEther for the avvy.
