Four common elves, for your perusal. (Hi, R_E! :D)
Leaf Gilder 1G
Creature – Elf Druid
Tap: Add G to you mana pool.
2/1
Common
This will be finding new slots in some of R_E's decks, I'm sure. Nothing too unusual -- it's about in line with the P/T ratios we've been seeing lately. Still nice to see it in print though.
Gilt-leaf Ambush 2G
Tribal instant – Elf
Put two 1/1 Green Elf warrior token creatures into play.
Clash with an opponent. If you win, those creatures gain Deathtouch until end of turn.
Common
Instant tokens are historically great in limited. The clash effect here is incredibly strong, and is going to turn around a lot of games (if people can pull it off, anyway). For constructed? Ehn.
Gilt-leaf Seer 2G
Creature – Elf Shaman G, Tap: Look at the top two cards of your library, then put them back in any order.
2/2
Common
I think this is the most powerful clash enabler we've seen so far, which gives green a leg up on the mechanic (and improves the chances on the card we saw above.)
Elvish Eulogist G
Creature – Elf Shaman
Sacrifice Elvish Eulogist: You gain 1 life for each elf card in your graveyard.
1/1
Common
New cycle of 1-drop tribal sacrificers? Hints of a graveyard theme in Jelly? First use of "Eulogist" on a Magic card? ... yeah, I got nothin'.
What we're doing here is akin to taking the text of Moby Dick, locating specific words therein, rearranging them to create a passage from Fight Club, and concluding from this evidence that Tyler Durden is based on Ahab.
I like the Eulogist and hope that it's suggestive of a cycle. I worry however what it might mean in dredge combos
The Instant and the Seer are both playable in limited and possily constructed elves, depending on what else constructed elves has. The instant is certainly good with the one that gives X +1/+1 counters for each elf you control.
Overall, I still don't know where elves fit. I prefer treefolk for Rock and there really isn't a low enough curve to make it g/b aggro (as proven by the new mana boy... 1G is too much for add G you really want to be adding it on turn 2 for 3 mana.
So, I don't know what we can expect for type 2 elves.
great commons, green seems to be the best at clashing now.
i'm a bit disapointed by the seer.. i was hoping for sylvan library on legs.. o well, we can't have magi in every set

Gilt leaf is, if I remember correctly, the process of applying a very very thin layer of gold to some other surface. This is also known as gold leaf. Its use with the elves makes for a nice subtle pun. Is it gilt leaf as a process, or is it actual golden leaves?
For the cards: the Gilder is certainly limited playable and could find a place in big mana green, but wouldn't help multicolor too much. The Ambush is a nice spell. Once your opponent sees it, whether it worked or not, it will really affect his attacking pattens. I'd hate to lose fatties to a stupid elf token with an attitude. The clash enabler works well with this set, but it ain't no divining top *melancholy*. Eulogist is meh. Some cards make you win more when you are already winning. This one just makes you loose one turn slower when you're losing. If you have enough elves in the graveyard to make it worth while, your gonna need more than that.
Yep, so here's the Hydro-rumored Top-like-top-reorganizer Elf, and the upgraded mana elf.
Well, it seems that using the moonglove poison is flavorfully a trademark of the Gilt Leaf tribe. Many of them have deathtouch. The Ambush is has a big potential. If you are lucky and win the clash, an opp's attack can left him weeping with an empty table. Surprise chumpblock with two mini-basilisks? Me likey
Gilt Leaf is the name of the greatest and strongest elvish tribe in Lorwyn (book info).
Gilt-leaf Seer seems remarkably off colour, I didn't think such straight library manipulation could be found in green without tying it into creatures ala Llanowar Empath.
I disagree. Green has frequently had access to permanents (usually enchantments) that offer strong library manipulation.
and a whole host of library manipulation that deals specifically with creatures or lands.
as long as it comes from a permanent (as opposed to an Instant or Sorcery, which would be a more blue or black kind of spell) Green has plenty of access to library manipulation.

I wonder what Gilt-leaf is? We've seen it in a few Elf card names.
It means a leaf that has been given a bright, shining aspect, or a golden hue, that is pleasing to the eyes. Basically, it's a decorated leaf, which is appropriate to the elves' theme of improving upon nature by getting rid of all that is not beautiful within it.
"Gilding is the art of applying metal leaf (most commonly gold or silver leaf) to a surface. This art was known to the ancients. According to Herodotus, the Egyptians were accustomed to gilding wood and metals; and gilding by means of gold plates is frequently mentioned in the Old Testament. Pliny the Elder informs us that the first gilding seen at Rome was after the destruction of Carthage, under the censorship of Lucius Mummius, when the Romans began to gild the ceilings of their temples and palaces, the Capitol being the first place on which this process was used."
and there really isn't a low enough curve to make it g/b aggro (as proven by the new mana boy... :1mana::symg: is too much for add you really want to be adding it on turn 2 for 3 mana.
It's not like Llanowar Elves isn't still legal. For fast mana decks, this could mean your second turn could be another llanowar, and this guy, propelling into turn 3 with 6 mana... Anyways, nothing exciting, but it feels solid, and everyone I'm sure would rather the 2/1 over a 1/2. =)
The Ambush is kind of scary. If the clash works out, it's a pretty effective removal spell in green. I'll be very paranoid at the prerelease.
Ahh, Elvish Eugugolizer. Or did you think I didn't know what a Eugugoly was? Sounds kind of like another life gain 1 drop we all know (though obviously the "three times" sealed the deal on her). One for each color would be nice, although Faeries already got a 1 drop in black, elementals in red (harbinger)... I'd be happy to have a saccing 1 drop with Bridge still in the format though.
And though it's on a creature itself it still seems off colour. The only time I want to see green messing with it's library is to get a creature or a land out of it.
They obviously think that since you aren't drawing cards (ahem, except for that "Every time you win a clash..." card), it's probably safe to throw it in green. Magus of the Library got picked for green, when it's probably better for a blue ability. Fa'adiyah Seer is green... I think they want to add some depth to what green does, with the occasional splash here and there, to avoid the thought that green is big and dumb, and that it also has a very ancient, wise mother nature thing going on in the background.
Overall, some better commons than what I've seen in other colors... Keep up the good work!

It can't. It's just a small leak so that Green can do something with clash; just like Blue and Red interacting with the grave in Odyssey.

In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck *********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like to to occur and validate you.
The ambush will be a limited bomb as stated, if you win the clash it may win you the game in the right situation. In constructed I can see this being played by the more casual crowd but most likely not in a Tier 2 or Tier 1 deck. It is possible to see in a tribal deck if you have lots of “number of elves in play” matters cards but not extremely likely.
The seer is a good card, in limited as it gives you draw consistency for the best of the 2 on top of the library, a very nice affect. Depending on the build this may make an elf deck in constructed or some type of green control or clash build around deck. I personally think we will see this card in some decks that use it more effectively then we think it can be used at this point.
The gilder is ok but the Eulogist is just not that good. The gilder is not bad for a mana elf as he can deal 2 damage and I see him helping to pay for then being championed out of play for the Wren’s Run Packmaster. The eulogist may not be too bad with the Deathrender to self sac a large elemental or other nastiness into play but I don’t think it will see play, not even in limited as you may not have enough elves to make him matter.
They are not gilded leaves! Gilt-Leaf is the name of the most powerful elven tribe/clan on Lorwyn. It has nothing to do with painting the surface of leaves golden.

Quite honestly, it's probably both. The process of gold leafing is likely where the design team got the name for the tribe. Especially with the card name "Leaf Gilder," they are speaking about the process as much as the tribe name. I agree with energythief, it's cool that Leaf Gilder makes the leaves that everyone else wears.
So the Gilt-leaf Tribe are those who wear gilded leaves made by the leaf Gilder, and that's how they got their name. (Not that I am any kind of expert on gilding, elves or tribes.)
Hahaha I love spoilers, especially all the *****ing some people do, anyway them are some pretty useful common cards, I like the tribal instant card, really evil if your opponent sends over his/her 2 biggest enemies they have, only for you to play this and win the clash, instantly destroyed , hahaha!
Little of topic here but, speaking of gold-leaf, here in england we have a very bizarre spirit/alcohol that is a clear drink with particles of gold-leaf in it, when you drink it the gold-leaves shred your throat to pieces and it makes the drink taste nicer, EH!!!
Are you talking about Goldschläger? If so it's sold here in the states as well.

Let this great clan rest in peace (2001-2011)
The library peeker is ok, too bad you can't ship the cards to the bottom.
Token maker might see play. The eulogist is pretty narrow. Unplayable outside of an elf deck.
I disagree. Green has frequently had access to permanents (usually enchantments) that offer strong library manipulation.

And I love that the first elf makes the golden leaves, the rest use them.
