Gaddock Teeg, That deck is just going to be annoying. I'm going to play it.
Teeg + MM = crazy delicious.
Teeg stops everything non-creature w/ cc 4+. MM on whatever w/ a lower CC that will bother you, AND counter backup. Death by bears! haha. But Meddling Mage will warp T2 I love it.
Usually you can guess by the lands they play, for the most part.
That and in your average tourney there are maybe three to four different netdecks. pretty easy to guess what you want to stall by the time Mage hits the baord.

Either everything is going to be Reveillark, 5cc, and some Fae or it's going to force decks to be less net decked because it's going to be decently hard to name something in a deck you have no idea about.
If this is true, I'm guess I'm gonna have to say bye bye to a diverse T2 again, I believe.
On the flipside, any rogue decks get a free G1 against anyone relying on the Mage too much. The current T2 is diverse by archetypes, but that makes it rogue-unfriendly; between "more sweepers" and "more counters", there aren't that many decks that can fit in the gaps.
Meddling Mage/Reveillark/Gaddock Teeg type decks will make the main control archetypes board in more cheap point removal, because they need the bears dead now. And that takes away from their sideboard flexiblity, opening up a niche for rogue decks. Not combo decks so much, but oter rogue decks.
Sure, stuff like Snapping Drake and Goblin Piker are for limited. But Null isn't even playable against a 5 year old whose hand consists of a 6 of Clubs, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Chimney Imp, and a very large cumquat.
Good thing I ordered mine when they were still cheap(er).
And to those people that think Standard is stagnant, MMage is bound to shake things up a lot.
Mmmmm....
Can you explain to me why MMage should get more expensive when its easier to get? There will be more copies around and the new sets are a lot smaller than the old ones... The MMage should be that much easier to get
I'm sure you have a reason to think it'll go up and I'd love to hear it...

What happens to any useful rare that gets reprinted in Standard?

WoTC, thank you for finally announcing the Modern format, an eternal format where everyone can participate.
Dang, this came a little too late. The loss of MM in Ext made URW Solution a ****** deck, and I had to be pulled in other directions GW (Teeg), BW (Sculler).
If only it came a little earlier... I'm still glad fer the reprint though. Hopefully, it'll get a kickass new art.

The card's price is already high enough though.
The amount of them in circulation is going to be ridiculous once people start cracking packs. It is a rare in a small set under the new rarity configurations. I don't see how it will go much higher than where it is now, 12 dollars.
Reflecting Pool is the worst example, but also the most recent one we have. It was worth nothing of note before, and when reprinted in a large set (before mythics) it skyrocketed because every other deck runs 4.

Can someone tell me why you say "Orb Confirmed" when it's not?
Yeah, I know the odds that there are another "Meddlin" are slim, but they're odds after all. Confirmation comes from facts, not odds...

YOU ARE SURPRISED BY A MANTICORE! IT QUICKLY SHREDS YOUR FLESH AND DEVOURS YOU!
Ok nice to hear he comes out 100%.
Just a question though, since MMs ability is CIP can you stack it so you kill it before your opponent gets the chance to name anything?
Meddleing mage doesnt have a CIP effect. You must not be reading the card. it has an ACIP effect but thats all.
MM is also strong because it gives white aggro 8 MD outs to fallout and can be easily protected, if you want to play say lark with it, archmage, forgetender, and fulminator mages you have a deck quite capeable of beating EVERYTHING.
Can someone tell me why you say "Orb Confirmed" when it's not?

Please read the thread. I already posted this.
People would have posted and said stuff like BUT CAN'T ISN'T IN THE ORB, etc.
Most cards that aren't officially spoiled by WoTC and show up on spoilers aren't 'confirmed' either, we just know they are right and are confident in them.
I am confident in this.

It is orb confirmed, and has been for over a week. The odds of another "Meddling whatever" is 30% or below, thus giving you betting odds it's in (70%+). Given "named" is also in the orb, as a SINGLE entry, those odds go to about 85% confirmed. That's BEYOND good enough for conformation.

I don't have any hard numbers on this, but I'm targeted more often than a black guy driving a beat-up sedan with a broken tail-light and no license plate, and Cy's well aware of that.
Where do you get those numbers from, seriously, I'd like to know
There's still a possibility that there's a Meddling Mage reference in this set, while it seems rather likely that he is in the set (and I don't really doubt it) it hasn't actually been "confirmed".
I don't believe he gets them from anywhere but his imagination. While I do believe it would be very very difficult to say that "named" or meddling something else exists would be far more unlikely that if they just reprinted a fan favorite and tournament staple like meddling mage.
