Why does Wizards insist on reprinting Demolish over and over? Its never playable in Constructed and rarely in Limited, so why?
I think you're partly right, but I think that a singleton of Demolish will be VERY playable in this Limited environment. I also felt that Volcanic Submersion was playable in Limited, too, but the main target was against Esper though. Of course, I'm the guy who actually makes sure to pick up a copy of Molten Frame if I'm in red, just in case. (And that's paid off more times than I'd like to say. Random Ethersworn Adjudicators against me much?!) Still, it WAS removal for the more obnoxious artifacts in Alara Limited (Sigil of DistinctionBehemoth Sledge to name a couple of the noncreature variety)
The Valakut cycle and whatever artifacts we get besides the INSANELY obnoxious-in-Limited Eternity Vessel are more than enough of a target for Demolish, hands down. I don't think I need to say why.
I'd rather have demolish than shatter for limited as it acts as a counter for more bombs in this set. Shatter's lower mana cost rarely matters much in limited anyway.

So you are saying you need demolish in limited in order to destroy a rare land and a mythic artifact?
I'd rather believe you just wanted to post lame stories about a past limited format.
Demolish gets the job done, even if you don't think it has a place or would prefer it cost, say, 1RR to do it, or just have them reprint Stone Rain or Molten Rain. (Personally, I'd prefer they just make a 2RR instant version of it and be done with it.)
My anecdote was partly to explain its presence as a reprint to others (who might not understand why). It's kind of like why they reprint Cancel so much; it gets the job done for what they want, which is "basic/common-slot answers" that are on color.
In the future, I'd appreciate you not skirting close to the personal attack line when responding to me, thanks. <3
If you really want to have powerful land/artifact destruction just reprint Pillage and be done with it. At least Demolish is a bit better costed and is a card with more stock in limited formats. Remember that WotC isn't a huge fan of LD but recognizes the need for it regardless.

Can somebody tell me exactly how the orb counts basic lands?
The FAQ states that it automatically includes 20 instances of basic, 20 instances of land and 8 instances of each land type, but how does it count the text box? Does it include four instances of each colored mana symbol and if so, does it also include 20 instances of each word usually associated with mana production as in "T", "add", "to", "your", "mana", and "pool"?
No, they are not actually printed on the basic lands.
Don't think so. With a number this large, it can really only be dealing with either gaining life or a life total of that size. Basically he's a Test of Endurance with legs. Nothing unexpected.
Agreed. But some people I know were expecting "crazy" things, hence my rolling eyes.
I can definitively say that the Orb does NOT count the "W" (:symw:) in the basic lands. I just used the Shards of Alara Orb to verify this. Only 13 hits, all of which were on cards that were not basic lands.
Rosewater has hinted that it is, at this point. If Refuge was a keyword, I imagine we would've heard about it by now, so the likelihood of it being on the uncommon land cycle has shot up astronomically. This means one of the below two things:
1) They definitely enter the battlefield tapped, and have another, self-referential ability (like the Teetering Peaks cycle).
2) They behave like the Ravnica duals, where the second and third instances of the name are along these lines: "As CARDNAME enters the battlefield you may (something). If you don't, CARDNAME enters the battlefield tapped."
Maybe they're actually doing karooish duals like was speculated in this thread? ("As CARDNAME enters the battlefield, you may return a land to your hand. If you don't, CARDNAME enters the battlefield tapped.")
lol we already have that, it's called Sage Owl!

No, they are not actually printed on the basic lands.
Pretty sure that's a no. In Oracle, basic lands have no text. The giant mana symbol is kind of like a watermark, in a sense.
I guess it's not what some people expected.

I'd be thrilled with an Ankh Of Mishra functional reprint... though we did have Polluted Bonds. Why wasn't that in Shards?
Agreed. But some people I know were expecting "crazy" things, hence my rolling eyes.

Come on WotC, it's the perfect opportunity for a reprint.
