regeneration has always been a joke, and wizards has said they needed to boost it. like snow covered lands in ice cage, it was an ability with more ways to punish it than take advantage of it. here's the cards in standard, come zen, that regenerate:
cudgel troll, hellkite overlord, kathari remnant, metallurgeon, skeletonize, vagrant plowbeasts, wall of bone
heck, the only cards up there even coming close to playable are blockers, cards the 'day of judgement player' would happily save to stop the aggro player stabilising. not killing regenerators is more likely to be an advantage than a disadvantage as far as i can see. that is, unless they reptrint troll ascetic or knight of the holy nimbus.
I'm a bit torn. I'm happy to see this back in Standard, and I'm happy to see a chase rare in ZEN, but I'm a bit disturbed that Wizards is pulling this stunt. Overall, the happiness wins out I guess. I already know my wallet is a slave to be abused by MTG, who cares at this point.
As to the missing regenerate clause, go-go-gadget-reverse-power-creep!
Anything that makes regeneration (and by extension, green) a little bit better is fine by me. Between Wrath and cards like Last Gasp, regen was pretty much a joke.

you can generally tell the easiest road to victory by how many players congregate on it; and the road of counterspells/control has been the freeway of choice in magic for quite some time.

What I find offensive is not that Wizards is endeavoring to make the game more accessible, but the attitudes of elitists who act as though no one of any age should show their face in the Magic public without first having mastery over the complexities of the game.
I'm annoyed. Mostly because i finished my playset of wrath THE DAY BEFORE we spoiled no wrath in m10.
I guess i figured that wraths were a safe bet since they had always been legal. Like birds of Paradise. If birds rotate see if i dont quit on the spot.
I know it wasn't a pre-print, but maybe they plan to do a "traditional" reprint of Wrap in Vigor in Zen? That seems like an easy and obvious way to make Day of Judgment situationally superior to Wrath, making its replacement sting a little less.

If your signature takes up more lines than your actual post does, you should fix one or both of them.
Meh, not really surprising. I love the new name and the lack of the regeneration clause. Regeneration might be relevant for once. Zen is shaping up to be quite an interesting set.
Good news: Wrath's price will drop(I hope) so poor players like me can afford them.
8 wrath extended? So? I dont really follow the format, but I heard Wrath isnt even played that much in extended.
Well I am amused. I think this just makes all those "oh it will allow for better variants" arguments seem silly. As soon as they've printed something that appears playable and as if it were replacing ***, it becomes the new gold standard. Anything not efficiently costed will be considered unplayable by many.
Is it just me, or does that card frame look much darker than usual? It might be just an artifact of the card presumably being foil, and it certainly isn't the PLC back, but it still seems notably different from a normal white card...
(Did I just comment on something OTHER than card mechanics? Yes I did.)
Congrats to WotC balancing *** and making regeneration relevant. I like that move. There should be no "can't regenerate" clause on any card. If you want to kill a regenerator, either nuke it when the opponent's mana is locked down, or -x/-x it, or exile it.
I have basically the same opinion. WotC wants to fix old mistakes from the game, like the existence of the Fear keyword and the large amount of "can't be regenerated" clauses. It's a good move.
Heck, I remember back when I start playing some ten years ago I actually asked "so is there any removal that actually lets my creature regenarete?".

I rolled 5 D6's and got 3 fours. They must have changed the odds of getting a 4!
Extended? no, really, no.
I agree on the rest, but a fact remains: people that are HAPPY to be SCAMMED (functional reprints are a way to do money with cards that already exist) maybe deserve it.
At least they could have waited to print it. Now it really screams "yeahhh, gimme your money! I know you will and I know you'll find strange excuses not to admit you're wasting them!"
wow, finally someone that's a bit clever.
Right, because they'd rather just give us cards for free. That's much better for business.
If people had a problem with the word "God" in Wrath of God, it would have been just better to make a functional reprint of Wrath.
Why they were at it, they probably did it all at once. Mind you, I would have gone as far as printing this in M10...

... just because Birds of Paradise is too small to be multiple creatures, therefore the inconsistency between the current art and the plural name, and because Birds and flyers shouldn't be in green's part of the color pie. And this comes from someone who owns 6 BoPs, therefore I'd have a lot to lose. But, once every decade, things need to get fixed, and that's it.
The removal of the regeneration clause seems to insinuate that Wizards wants to push creatures harder.
No, it insinuates that Wizards wants to push regeneration harder. Or, actually, make it an ability that doesn't only matter in limited. When was the last time this has occured? With Silvos, Rogue Elemental? 'Cos I dunno, it was so long ago that I wasn't even playing at the time.
This is the worst thing wizards has done in a long time. First they take *** out of the core, during some of the most ridiculous aggro shenanigans i have ever seen, and now when Lorwyn rotates they are giving it back? Oh wait, they made it so we cant play with all of the wraths we have acquired throughout the years. Hell im surprised they didnt make it mythic rare just to get a little bit more money. Dont get me wrong, I love having wrath in standard, it makes my favorite deck type much more viable, but i dont like the money gouging.
I have Wraths. I bought them a long time ago because having wraths means that i can cut 40 dollars off of most deck prices in standard. Now i need to get myself some Day of Judgement? *** sounds cooler too, im not gonna say oh yeah turn 5 DoJ! lol
EDIT: I do think the art is cool. and awww man reknit is rotating!
I'm good for that. I was waiting to see something like this anyway, glad they made it four mana.

That's why I support my local business by buying boosters and singles. They're more fairly priced at the local business, whereas boxes aren't.
