Normally I'd be fine with the art, if it hadn't been for the fact that they could have revealed Name or Type line and we could have attached the art to it anyway.
Seds: You forgot mana cost. Anything above 5 just isn't competitive from what we've seen (Bolas is only played in 5CC-style decks as a supplement to Cruel Ult, and with rotation that deck will die; Chandra and Liliana are never played), unless his first ability was "+3: Until your next upkeep, Sorin is indestructible and his loyalty counters can't be removed" and his ultimate was "-6: You win the game."

Except we couldn't because there's two other planeswalkers in Zendikar. Now we know everything on this card goes to Sorin.

"Planeswalker - Sorin" would kind of give it away I think.
Atobe: I intentionally left Tezzeret out because he sees play. However, keep in mind that in Magic's history, anything that interacts with artifacts is good, and in Standard, he can play as mana accel to make his cost closer to 3. Also, being able to animate your field the turn after he comes out is pretty darn good, and kind of negates his high cost...if Liliana cost 4, she'd be broken. I use her in R/B and mono-B control, so I think she has potential, but I'm going off competitive metagame.
Spoiler wise, I think its good they spoil something we already know, builds up suspense
The next would probably the Name.. and hopefully give these whiners something to whine about.
If you really cared about the art shouldn't that be the LAST part of the card you want? The card's abilities, text, name, type, etc should all form an image of the art in your mind and then when the art is revealed you can see how well it matches up to what you expected. Revealing the art first just takes all that fun away, while being completely useless for people that actually care what the art does.
For a regular spell, maybe. But planeswalkers are blatantly top-down designs, so I'd prefer to have the concept (art/name) in mind while the rest of the text trickles in.
that art is amazing i cant wait to see what this is gonna be

The reasons to vote for art are really weak in a rumour mill. When we do get spoilers, do you avert your purist, art-craving eyes just because they come without art? And the much repeated line "we will get the rest spoiled eventually" is ridiculous. The reason spoilers like these exist is to allow people have fun speculating. Any one of the three abilities would have people debating on forums for days about the other abilities and which planeswalker/creature does it belong to. Art says nothing beyond itself, and after apreciating its virtue, we're left with nothing to say for the rest of the week.
Magic is not a gallery, it is a strategy game. That it sports amazing art is the cherry on top, not the rason de etré. If we got the whole card spoiled, and then the art it would be much more of a treat IMHO. I guess that when someone treats you to a dinner in a fancy restaurant the first thing you ask for is to see the design of the dishes? This could have been a great apetizer for Zen, but at this pace, when we actually start getting spoiled something actually relevant we'll be deep into the rumour season and I wouldn't be surprised if someone spoils it whole before.
If you like art so much as opposed to spoilers, what are you doing here in a rumour forum? You better run; soon we'll get lots of artless text spoilers that will hurt your tender eyes.
how else would you ever be able to view it in full glory as it is now?
Because Wizards never exploits the images of the planeswalkers in different products and size. Thanks, oh thanks for this rare and unique opportunity of seeing this art that would otherwise be lost forever.
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.
We actually didn't have the art... we had about a third of this full artwork.
And do we really know he's a planeswalker? Just because this is full art, doesn't mean anything... every magic card originally has full artwork, it's just cropped when made into a card.
Line 1, 2 or 3 isn't necessarily abilities 1, 2 or 3 either...
I still find Sorin a bit of a puzzle. We all swore he was a legendary vampire, but if now he's a planeswalker... can a planeswalker be a vampire (undead) also? He looks like he has blood coming down from the right corner of his lips, but his left hand looks like it has a cross on it. Maybe that just happened by accident with the art.
If he ends up not being a planeswalker, I would love an extended art version of him... that art is wicked!

Not everyone who voted on a poll at a different website visits this website. Not everyone who comes to this website likes to read twenty pages of speculation. None of us had any idea that what they would spoil was something people might have already seen, and arguing in hindsight that everyone should have voted another way is ridiculous. Just because the same artwork happened to be posted here a few weeks before, there was no way of knowing that was what would be spoiled. It could've been the new Chandra and you'd still be throwing the same fit.
To claim that art says nothing beyond itself is a condemnation I'm not sure you're worthy of leveling. If you are unable to muster more than a shrug at Magic art, which has improved exponentially in several areas over the years, that's your problem. In a few months will you really care when and how a card was spoiled? Do you remember all the other ways cards were spoiled?
And by the way, I usually don't believe just the text. I have this nasty habit of waiting to see the whole card.
We can be fairly sure he's a PW at this point because one of the options for "You Decide: is loyalty. Unless his Loyalty happens to come up as 0, which would have been a major cop-out if that had been the first thing spoiled.

Chill the hell out and use foreign phrases only when you understand and can spell them. We all love spoilers, but we can wait. It should be added to the first post that another piece of the card, in order of voter preference, will be spoiled each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until it is finished. Be patient! Can you wait a couple days to get the next hit?

It's says "Power/Toughness or Loyalty" on the page with the art of the card that was revealed, so we don't know. But either way, I will be playing a deck with him if he's a PW or not.
I agree with Spekter (thanks for pointing out the French mutilation!), no reason to throw your toys out the pram ITT.
I'd rather start with art or name personally - gives you something to work from, and gives context for all the other spoiled information. I voted name, but art is probably best.
For a start, this art all but confirms Sorin's PW status, effectively giving us his type line and rarity for free - they could pull a dick move and wrap a text box in that lower half, covering the rest of the art, but that would be a failure of Steamflogger Boss proportions.
I hope we have his abilities spoiled next!
PS: Looking at the poll figures I find it slightly amusing that one in 40 people voted for (presumably) artist credit...
It's a little weird if Sorin's full card art has his foot cut-off like that. The only other PW I saw with a cut-off foot is Lili's Lorwyn PW card. Now I'm ecstatic to see his full art as in the FULL art!
I'm pretty sure Sorin's a PW since WotC is using this tactic to hype us up. The art already has the black boarder. Just paste the PW card template and voila! The top of his head would very likely be the one to have the popping out trademark of PW's. Spoiling a legendary creature this way is kinda meh IMO. Spoiling a mythic is the way to go, and a PW at that!
Counting off all the Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays til prerelease: we'll get 19 spoilers from this stint of WotC. If we continue upto the release date then we'll get 22 spoilers. 2 cards spoiled this way. But we'll get to have the full set of Zendikar spoiled by then.
so what should we vote now? Line 3? It will confirm if he is a planeswalker or not and we will know his ultimate (And probably Bolas' unused ultimate)
we don't get to vote anymore. they've already locked in the order of things to reveal but the percentages of what we voted for at first...
19.3 % voted for art so we got the art.
13.7 % voted for something else which is waht they'll reveal on monday.
