You could mess with your opponents so bad with this.
Say you get them down to 0 or -X life but all you have in your hand is a lightning bolt or something that doesn't quite hit for 6, just SHOW it to them and tell them to attack you! lol
Limited Bomb anyone? I actually like how this guy fits into the super-aggro limited curve instead of being a 6-drop, which tends to be almost unplayable in the format most of the time.
I think he's kind of neat actually... pointless in many ways, but it would be fun to have a sac outlet on the ready after you've beat your enemy down. I mean get him out turn 3, OUCH.
Personally, I think that this guy could become very very good. you really have to look at this as a 4 mana, 6/6, flying trample because by the time he has beat the opponent a few times, they are going to need to get rid of it themselves, because they need to make sure you don't get rid of it yourself after they are already at -X life. And a start with multiple of these could be insane, finishing off with possibly a Day of Judgement or even a Whiplash Trap.
As a Timmy/Johnny, I am greatly pleased by this guy. Especially because he won't probably cost much... I hope.
Oh I don't know... for such a wacky card... he's WELL worth trying to break in Standard. 4 for a 6/6 flyer? That's just BEGGING to be broken. I wouldn't be shocked if he's $10 out of the gate.
Hmm, you're at -4? I'll announcing I'm casting Bone Splinters. I'll pay the costs associated with the spell... oh! you lost the game? You had a negate in hand? Woops!
This is not even a drawback until you've actually 'won the game', and in any good deck design you'll have a way to get rid of him when that happens. This is certain to get some sort of secondary market love. I want to get some for my casual mono-black deck. Also: don't you just want to stick that into a Donate deck?
I love love love the design too, this definitly comes across as a Black creature.

I'm still trying to come up with some game theory scenario, and I'm still baffled. If I'm pitted against the persecutor, I have to get past the huge flying demon to win, but while he is in play I can't lose. With the odds as they stand, my opponent might as well keep attacking with the demon while he deals with all my other threats and drop me to zero. Then I can race him if he doesn't have the removal to deal WITH HIS OWN CREATURE hoping for....a tie?
It's so wrong yet feels so right. When magic becomes a math puzzle I know I'm playing the right game ^^.

Jacerator is an aggro deck - it just wins by attacking the library, it doesn't really control the board other than to play a few Fogs

Nope:
10/1/2008: You could choose to target the creature you're going to sacrifice to pay for Bone Splinters. First you choose the target (at which time it's still on the battlefield), then you pay the costs (at which time you sacrifice it). The spell will be countered.
What does damage on the stack have to do with him?
Certain rare effects that would trigger and put them back above 0 after combat damage is dealt. (Noble Purpose, Souls of the Faultless, etc..) I just thought it would've been an optimal time to sac or something but as long as they don't have life gain to respond to you saccing him, it's pretty irrelevant anyway. I like him regardless.
Is anyone else wondering if a 6/6 for 4 isn't enough with this drawback?
It's a 6/6 for 4 with great evasion and whose drawback goes away if the opponent removes it. It's just fine.

All this discussion about an opponant trying to keep him in play...Do you really think that'll be the case? If I play it, my opponant will have to know that I plan on self-removing it at some point, preferably when he's at 0 life. Therefore, why would an opponant let it beat him over the head to get to that point? If your opponant has removal, I don't see him holding it back and NOT using it on this guy, in most cases.
He could work well in WBG (ramp and wraths), UBG (ramp and bounce), BG (ramp and sacrifice effects) or just B (just sacrifice effects).
Pretty versatile!
He'll particularly shine in decks that can accel him out because he gets better the earlier in the game it is.
Early game he clocks your opponent fast.
Late game he can only whittle without winning unless backed up by another card that gets rid of him. Which isn't always a guarantee, but can surely be built around.
Mono-black is getting some true beef these days between Ob Nixilis, this guy, Bloodwitch, Halo Hunter and Nyxathid. And they're minus most of the usual drawbacks that black fatties have traditionally had.
