On Daily MTG a few days ago while discussing JTMS, Tom LaPille mentioned that there are at least two cards in New Phyrexia aimed specifically at dealing with planeswalkers. I took a quick glance over the cards, did anyone see anything that really stood out as far as answers for planeswalkers? I didn't really see anything but then, I was just scanning.
Depise
Hex Parasite
Beast Within
Brutalizer Exarch
Karn
Off the top of my head, all of these are capable of killing 'Walkers.
am i the only one who loves the fact that green has an instant speed pseudo vindicate?
giving them a 3/3 in todays day and age means literally nothing
i guess valakut just gets more fuel
Heck, it's better than Vindicate in a lot of ways. I'd be very surprised if this doesn't become one of the most powerful cards in the set.

Into the Maw of Hell is a name so awesome, it deserves its own song.
It would be about a world of brown spikes and red fire, where men fight and scream and become blurry masses. Then it would change to somber, we learn that this glorious place exists only in Raymond Swanland's head. To visit it, you must enter the maw of Hell itself.

I love this set. So much casual goodness. I hope Karn and Obliterator hit astronomical prices and push the non-tourney rares/mythics into the ground.
By the way, what's the deal with who is running New Phyrexia? Karn is out, and we have 5 praetors. Are the 5 praetors sharing power? That can't possibly last. The only way it will work is if they have a single leader. I could see the 5 praetors melding into a single "Yawgmoth Reborn" ... 5-color general anyone?
alright, ive seen the whole set now and read em. all i can say is wow. best set ever? I certainly think so it seems. maybe the hype is just tickling my excitement but it seems realy awesome. I love you wotc. so so much. what a crazy day

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.
I invision a future where one is not mighty when he can silence a crowd with brutality,
but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
This. Is. So. Sick.
This is ridiculous. Standard will definitely be a slight bit different after this, much more so than after Besieged, regardless of SoFaF basically being the reason for the rise of Caw-Blade.

If you read the flavor text on a lot of cards, the Praetors are already in-fighting.
Maybe next block on duals. They need to give us SOMETHING to look forward to after all...
Interestingly, I don't see much in this set I need... it's a GREAT set, but since I don't play standard... there is more to offer for me in the uncommons than anything else. But that's a good thing!
This set is so good. It gives a little to every format. As for enemy dual lands, we prob won't get these til the revisit to ravnica that has been hinted at from WoTC.
Some of you may think that you have made great mistakes in your lives, and perhaps you have. But let me ask you this.... did you ever play strip poker with two fat chicks and win?
Oh my god. These are going be such a shallow and vapid few weeks leading up to this set's release. I just that I won't feel like myself again until I finally get to beat down with Demon of Death's Gate armed with an Expedition Map thanks to the glorious new Bludgeon Brawl (rare red enchantment that lets you equip all non-creature, non-equipment artifacts). Bludgeon Brawl really tickles me; that is what impresses me in design terms.
The rest of the set looks exceptional, too. I await for it eagerly.
I can't believe you people if you aren't trolls. This set looks awful. They wasted rare slots with praetors and chancellors... There are no new good infect creatures (in the set where the creatures with infect are supposed to take over... really???), it went from Skitheryx to Crusader and Vatmother to absolute **** infect cards. Bad set is bad.
wow...I'm speechless. This set is extremely good. Well done wizards. The past two sets have been crap. Then you give us this. Why you no give us this sooner wizards?

Infect was Phyrexia's way of expanding...it has now won the war so it no longer needs infect as a ways to fight between the factions-Phyrexian oil does nothing to those who are infected.

Ok? And this makes the cards better how? Silly Vorthos.... This set seems to have very limited applications for Spikes. Theres some good uncommons and commons and like 1/10th of the rares are playable.

Turn 2 Lotus Cobra + Misty Rainforest + Myr Superion
A 5/6 on turn 2 seems pretty powerful. I'm not saying it is as powerful as this card, but it does feel like a miniature Tarmogoyf...
