Agree. I like my deck boxes being only slightly larger than my decks. The idea of lugging these stupid things around sounds silly. I'm going to dump the oversized cards the day I get them and then just have the 5 decks in a big dumb cheap cardboard box. Practical solution to picking up 500 new cards.
Yeah Europe, keep you stupid boxes!!!
I should add one more important thing: oversized generals are being distributed at a 1:1 ratio with the regularly sized generals. So having an oversized general is about as pimp as Shia LeBeouf.
Online retailers are doing that in droves already, not really a big deal.
Really? Where? Starcity WAS doing "buy 4 get 1 free" and that was a pretty good deal at the time. Minituremarket was at $95 for all 5, but that deal vanished.

That's pretty much my thought... except Shia LaBeouf before he came in physical contact with Megan Fox.

If you prefer, substitute "Fred Durst", "Vanilla Ice", or "Alan Greenspan" where applicable.
And yeah, never heard of "buy 2 get 1 free" anywhere. Even if that were the case, though, I don't like the idea of buying them on the hope that they're good without knowing the decklists and the new cards. If the decks don't have enough value in them, there's a good chance I'll just buy the generals I like as singletons.

Not so much buy 2 get 1 free as much as 'buy all 5 for the price of around 4 or less' that some sites had.

And Australia gets screwed over on that promotion too, how nice
I've been dissuaded to buy the WUR one, seeing as people gun for me, no matter what I do (or what general I have) anyway. BWR seems more enticing now, than before.
I had a card design for a legend that went something like:
"Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, if -this creature- is the target of that spell, you may copy that spell. You may choose new targets for that spell."
Maybe it has a similar ability -- considering its part green (the +X/+X color), red (the big +X/+0 color) and blue (the utility/cantrip color.)

it's already pretty clear that the first ability says "whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, you may pay (?). If you do, copy that spell."
Yeah, my favourite is the blue/red/green one followed by the blue/black/green deck. I'll probably only get one though... that's if it isn't 80% unplayable jank.
And 2 sol rings... shifty eyes... that's right... you heard me
Seriously though. It is very unlikely that more than 1 deck would even have a divining top. I will be happy if they include it in one of the decklists. It is very unlikely we would see more than 1 or 2 of these high staples across the decklists. I doubt Wizards wants to make 5 decklists each using the same staples. Its just not like them to do something like that.
I for one feel like it should show up in at least one list though.
I doubt they'll do too many of the expensive staples. They'd really throw a monkey wrench in supply etc and they'd have to worry about balancing all 5 of the decks or 1 of them would be the most sought out by far.
The best I'd hope for is seeing the Zendikar fetches in them. They could put one in each deck and then if you got all 5 you'd have the 5 you need for EDH. They also seem to like to put player favorites into things shortly before they rotate (see the numerous duel decks etc)
Another decent cycle they could easily split amongst the decks is the ultimatums but I doubt those are going to really push people to buy the decks.

The Ultimatums are Allied tri-color, not Wedge so they won't have those. But, something like that could be done for sure - although with budget landbases that will be tough to pull off.
I am more hopeful for the Guided Passage "cycle" from Apocalypse in new borders. That would be really cool.
1 - Think of it as a uncounterable Ponder. Granted you only get to draw that card if you "Top" at the end of your opponent's turn...
2 - With all of the heavy shuffle effects that are in most EDH decks, it's nice to know when the right time to Tutor/Fetch might be...
3 - It's kind of indestructible... If someone targets it, you activate it to draw a card and the Top goes on top of your library...
4 - It enables silly storm tricks with Future Sight and Etherium Sculptor.
Thankyou farmer of pandas.*bows*
So in your opinion would it work in my fledgling EDH *see sig* or should i just trade it as i don't know where i'd put it and it seems to be worth a playset o' commons?
I really doubt that wizards wants most of the cost of the decks to be tied up in landbase. Even wizard looks somewhat at the secondary market when they build these things just so they dont blow their prices right out of the water. They want it to be worthwhile to buy the decks vs buying the singles yet they dont want it to be just pooring out money.
Wizards tends to want the attractive cards to be in the form of the nonland cards usually to appeal more to the casual players who dont care as much about their landbase they just want big flashy cards that are worth something.
EDIT: again this same thing is why its doubtful that wizards will include much of any of the expensive staples of EDH because they want to appeal some to the casual players.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
They recently reprinted Sol Ring and Sensei's Divining Top in From the Vault sets (and in foil, no less), so I doubt we'd be so lucky to see them again in these boxes.
Recently (re)printed uncommon staples like Whispersilk Cloak and Lightning Greaves should be auto-includes, imo. And Thran Dynamo was just reprinted in Archenemy, so it could be here as well. But everybody probably already has them, so it would be nice to see something that hasn't been printed in forever.
I agree ISB... I think we'll be lucky to see one (maybee two) rare slots for land in each... and you can bet Exotic Orchard is one of them. But if they give us "good" uncommon options, I'll be a-okay...
Nano... I think you're dead on... Top and Sol Ring in FTV gives them an out and they know they could "avoid" printing them here. Besides, I doubt we'll see many repreats from deck to deck... I see things like Signets and Tallismans... where they can avoid copying the other decks identically, but still give a similar feel.
Out of the staples though I think that the Divining Top has the highest chance of being reprinted because of these reasons:
1) It was originally printed at uncommon rarity.
2) It has not since original printing been reprinted
3) The price jump on the card is due to its high use, not its scarcity or how old it is
Out of the money staples I think it has the highest chance of being reprinted but I still don't find it likely that it will be. If it is reprinted in here it will probably be in like 1 deck. They aren't going to put any staple in every deck.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
1) It was originally printed at uncommon rarity. Same with Sol Ring
2) It has not since original printing been reprinted Just about with same with Sol Ring. Aside from the FTV... Top = 7 years. Sol Ring = 16 years since it was printed last.
3) The price jump on the card is due to its high use, not its scarcity or how old it is Same with Sol Ring
Edited... So why not the ring?
And technically, the high price is because of the scarcity, but that scarcity is because of a high demand less than a low print run.

Wow top has gotten expensive...... as have a lot of the EDH staples. I don't count on seeing either ring or top, but I wouldn't complain at all
