I remember someone playing a janky deck full of hunted creatures. He even passed the creatures around the table. No one attacked him, but they kept the creatures and it sort of lead to a standstill... until the player played Insurrection.
From MaRo yesterday : "Join me next week when I get carded."
Does it mean he will have a card preview?
Oh I sure hope so, but it would be a bit early. We may see some new cards over the next few weeks, but the decklists may be 2 or as late as 1 week from release. No problem though. They could punish us innocent little players for glimpsing the unthinkable new set early, and wait forever. Oh well. I want to see the new commanders' full cards soon though.

what I think is more likely is one deck will be completely revealed every week with the last one being revealed the week leading up to launch. Otherwise, what are they going to do? Say specifically what deck every single preview is from? Which sounds more likely?
(Weren't Archenemy previews revealed by the deck as well?)

I honestly wouldn't expect anything until 1-2 weeks before release. Maybe one or two things via Twitter or Facebook... but they are going to spend the next couple of weeks talking about NPH and design stories etc...
Granted, we've never quite had a "new" product quite like this... but I don't see why we should expect anything other than what we'd normally have with Duel decks or sets like Planechase.
sorry if this has already been said, but if you look at the previews vs release dates for both planechase and archenemy it will shed some light on how previews for commander may work.
Archenemy: Released Fri June 18
previews on Tue June 1, Thur June 3, Tue June 8, Thur June 10
Planechase: Released Fri Sept 4
previews on Tue Sept 18, Thur Sept 20, Tue Sept 25, Thur Sept 27
So in the two weeks prior to release, they would release the deck one at a time ever few days. It's only an educated guess, but I figured they'll do the same this time, only with one week having three previews instead of two
I would love to see some of these old cards that only have a high price tag due to their scarcity. I guess only time will tell if we get any real gems out of these.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
There was a podcast posted on the main site a few weeks ago from pro Tour London... from a member of the rules commitee that has seen the sets... he basically said that it's not TOTALLY for n00bs, but it's a way to gateway into the format. This being said, he also said that EDH was not a great way for someone to learn Magic... but I think what we can take from this is that there won't be any super OMG reprint cards in this set. Outside of the "new" cards, we really can't get our hopes up too heavily here.

Well... thats a bit disappointing. I hope we can at least get some decent runable commanders out of it. I sort of figured there wouldn't be any lolz reprints though considering the fact that it would imbalance the sales of a single box.
I can at least keep my hopes up for the commanders to be ok. I always enjoy the option to build new deck ideas so new commanders are still some fun.

I'd REALLY like to see Simulacrum in every box. I'm guessing Top is out of the question, but stuff like new border Defense of the Heart, Future Sight, Karmic Guide, and Aura Shards isn't! Come on Wizards! Give us some cheddar!!
When I started playing EDH a year ago Solemn Simulacrum went in every deck... now I think I have a deck or two with now...
I don't know if it is in part due to me enjoying running decks with green in them, having a lot of commanders in the 3-5 mana range which he doesn't ramp for nearly as nicely or what. But for some reason I just cant seem to get him in nearly as many decks anymore.
I agree though I think there will be a lot of formidable cards that are very usable for EDH. I am sort of thinking that we are right though in not expecting much for cards in the $5+ range though. It is sort of hard to make all the cards worth that and sell off a deck at $30
I would expect to see a few of the cards you mentioned. But I would also expect to see a lot of $0.50 rares that are just sort of meh filler.

RRR in Wedge colored deck using a budget mana base? I suppose it could happen, but they want people to be able to play the cards they put in there. I suspect we won't see anything that intense.

I think many of your suggestions are right on the money. This is the type of thing we'll see... Shocklands, likely not. Simply because it's going to be 3 slots in each deck. If anything I think they'd do enemy Lairs, enemy Alara lands, maybe some kind of artifact that taps for all three at some stupid cost... but I could see signets or karoo lands for sure. 3 common slots are easier taken than rare or uncommon.
Ok here is to hope: (yes I know none of this will likely happen in these decks)
I want them to release more Ninjas. Blue has a really cool legendary ninja that would be super cool if we could get a few more ninjas printed for him. Sadly they wont ever really print another set that has ninjas in them. However this would be something that they could print more of them for.
Also they should print a usable samurai legend. There are so many legendary samurai but they all totaly suck for EDH. I think that a usable commander of the samurai type would be super cool to have. Sure there are a few that if you really push them they can be run.... but seriously I want one that doesnt suck. Some sort of 5 colored samurai would be so ridiculously amazing I would probably just explode. (clearly a 5 colored samurai could not be printed in these boxes. Regardless they should make one... and do it now)
Also a Tribal Warrior legend in the colors of G/R/X Both green and red have really cool warriors and some tribal support for such a deck but I would love to see a warrior legend built for going tribal. Kresh the Bloodbraided is the only usable warrior that splashes these 2 colors that I am aware of and he is hardly a tribal sort of guy.

Uncommons are in unlimited supply even in duel decks with their $20 MSRP. We've even had multiple decks with more uncommons than commons. Unless it's over $5, I'd expect they'll print any common/uncommon that'll make the decks play better. We also have 18+ rare slots for the decks, so "wasting" one or two on lands isn't really going to hurt. Hell, they put M10 duals in the event decks and Premium Deck Slivers and they're still standard legal.
Shock lands, in particular, are probably more unlikely due to the 2 damage than dollar value. If all the previous decks are any indication, drawbacks, land destruction, counterspells, discard, hosers, and really annoying control cards will be in short supply unless there's a compelling reason to include them. (see Akroma)

As much as all of this would rule, and since I'm a pessimist, I'm guessing we'll all be paying 30+ dollars for the new wedge generals and a bunch of over costed jank. I also hope they don't put top in any of these. It's bad enough every game has the phrase "before the end of your turn, top" spoken 70 times. More tops means more people looking at the top three cards of their library at the end of every one's turn all day.

I'd rather have divining top personally than any of those. Also why is top out of the question? You mentioned Sower of Temptation and she's about 15 dollars.

Pay attention wizards. Don't bother putting anything decent in anything, just add top to anything commander related if you want it to sell because apparently edh is all about rearranging the top three cards of your library and occasionay drawing a card.
I'd take anything remotely useful over top. The less top the better. If any card should he banned it's that, simply because I'm sick of hearing it brought up everytime a commander product is mentioned. "wizards is making over sized game mats for edh!!! I hope it comes with a free top because that's the only reason I'd buy it!!!"
I'd rather them reprint stuff that is actually enjoyable, useful, and relevant then some stupid annoying artifact that adds 20 minutes to every game because people are obsessed with looking at one new card before their turn.

The reason top should really be banned is because it makes games drag on FOREVER and is virtually indestructible barring Krosan Grip and Stifle + Shatter effects. I hope we don't see it, because then every EDH game I play will take 3 hours to finish.
Lightning Greaves would be cool. It's been reprinted several times, but is still very high, and is a staple in most decks.

Previews were after the release?
Yeah. It was really screwed up and made WotC look like they were running around with their heads cut off. Everyone here complained a lot
Or he meant August.
And, I think that kind of preview schedule makes sense, but with all the new cards they could drag it our for a lot longer so who knows?

The Commander decks are bound to have at least a couple bomb EDH cards in each box. I'm thinking stuff that's great but not hyper expensive, like Eternal Witness, Genesis, Sower of Temptation, Academy Rector, Karmic Guide, Stonehewer Giant, Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni, Anger, Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker (GUARANTEED in the Intet box), Solemn Simulacrum, Future Sight, Mana Reflection, Tooth and Nail, Aura Shards, Oblivion Stone, etc, etc, etc. Each deck having a Shockland isn't that far-fetched either, imo.
