Maybe that's liliana's throne, scepter, and crown.
I thought about that, but it'd be weird for them to print Liliana-related cards without an actual Liliana card in the set. That would seem more fitting for Innistrad, assuming Liliana plays a big part in that set.
I just hope they do some cool stuff. None of this Greatsword and Kite Shield crap.
these really really dont fit into m12
nothing in the set so far seems very royal
illusions
vamps
elves/spiders?
titans?
none of that stuff fits in with a throne/crown/etc
the only walker that comes to mind is vess since her art has alot of purple.. but these seem to nice and normal for her. her throne/crown/scepter would be alot more wicked or sinister looking.
A lot of that has to do with how sparse any card looks when you take away all of its text. I'm sure once we find out what they do and see them in their entirety, they'll look a lot less token-y.
I don't agree at all. Look at the pictures and zoom in. I've seen better Token art than these pieces of art. There's very little colour depth to the images and little to no background detail. It's very plain.
Maybe they are more silly artifacts that do nothing on their own.
"If you control [crown], [scepter], [throne], creatures cannot attack you."
Or maybe Liliana's has a new ultimate ability that has something to do with these three.
:0mana:: If Liliana Vess is wearing a hat, holding a scepter, and sitting in a chair, you win the game"
also idk if this has any meaning. the scepters background looks like the old school backgrounds

my only other theory is, a set of artifacts that only effects your planeswalkers.
like if you control scepter, whenever a PW you control gets a loyalty counter it gets 2 instead.
something like that.
Clearly they are Exodia's king-things, and if you can assemble them all in play at the same time, you win.
Also, I don't really care for the art either, and am incredibly un-excited about what these might do. No reason to think they'll be terrible, but right now the art and implications of them being related just aren't very interesting to me.
Though I will go ahead and say this. If they are dependent on having each other in play, there will be a series of questions to ask to decide if they're worth running in constructed:
1) How expensive are they, in total?
2) How difficult will it be to find all three?
3) How easily will they be destroyed or protected?
4) Is the effect worth as much hassle as you're putting into this?
I can't imagine much that would entice me to try this, unless they were all 1 mana, could be given hexproof somehow, provided some real benefit on their own, and had a pretty extreme effect. Winning the game, certainly, also perhaps stealing a permanent every turn. Maybe a mindslaver effect. Not much else seems worth it.
They are an "engine" system like the Stations which provide an alternate win condition by having all three activated, like the Stations from MIR. (This is the theory I favour.)
They are static artifacts of different rarities that do a similar thing... for example, the Throne gives absorb 1 to you and your planeswalkers (or equivalent), the crown gives it to equipped creature, the scepter to a target.
Just three random nice artifacts, with one of them naming the rest a la Kaldra. I guess this could be factible too.
You missed a fifth possibility: Three artifacts that all of them name themselves, like the Urzatron.
My guess would be that they have synergy that flows into a combo, like the stations. Magic rarely does cards which name other cards, and that would be a strange thing for a core set... but using a shared theme to guide players into finding a combo makes a lot of sense for the core set.
I really hope this is a 3 piece combo to win the game. One common, one uncommon and one rare. It would be pretty cool for edh.
I really hope the scepter says something like, you may choose targets for any spell or ability which would be chosen at random.
The crown could let you gain control of one creature each upkeep at random until end of turn and the chair could make end of turn effects not end at the end of turn.

Lilliana's throne had 2 dragon's coming off the side of it in the image that was released. It wasn't a pretty pink princess throne.

Since most of the rares and mythics are gone, that means these are probably more likely then not common or uncommon.
this will mean they have some very basic effect. now i'm just hopeing that these cards arn't overcosted so they may be viable, but we will see.

The crown could let you gain control of one creature each upkeep at random until end of turn and the chair could make end of turn effects not end at the end of turn.
Seems flavorful and powerful.
it would be a big waste if these all were rares. uncommon would be my guess to the rarity.
