1: Heavenly Inferno
2: Mirror Mastery
3: Devour for Power
4: Counter Punch
5: Political Puppets
RWB is my wedge, so no surprise there. Mirror Mastery is just awesome, and normally outside my playstyle, but Animar is the kind of general I can build a new deck around. Devour has the Mimeoplasm and looks fun, and worthwhile card wise, the others are meh-ish. Counter Punch is much weaker than I thought it would be, and Political Puppets just isn't my style, and has weak cards for my style for the most part. Just not my bag.

This may be a dumb question, but aren't the "uncommons" in a way rares because there is only one in each of these sets?
I mean, it isn't like you get a bunch of them in a booster box or something. Am I missing something? Maybe they are just using it as a power level and in case they want to reprint them later?
Having targeted land destruction isn't unfun in casual environments; it's a necessity. What's more unfun for a table- a guy recurring some abusive artifact/creature off Academy Ruins/Volrath's Stronghold or that guy losing a single land? If they wanted to keep it fairly friendly, they could've included Ghost Quarter, which I can't see anyone complaining about.
That's only important if your playgroup actually uses those cards, which again, kind of violates the spirit EDH. I think we've got one guy in our entire group with Academy ruins and he gets hated on enough.
Regardless, my list
Devour for Power
Heavenly Inferno
Mirror Mastery
Counter Punch
Political Puppets
I'm not that into politicking at the table and while the counter punch deck is in an interesting wedge with an enemy color combo that I like (I'm working on a Savra deck too) it was a bit lack luster for my tastes. I'm only picking up Devour for Power and Heavenly Inferno.
My order for priority would be:
1. Mirror Mastery-RUG is my favorite wedge
2. Devour for Power-I like the synergy of the deck, along with Damia
3. Counterpunch-I like both of the generals a lot, and already have a token EDH deck in the works
4. Heavenly Inferno-I like both of the genrals, but I just don't like the colors that much
5. Political Puppets-Meh.
However, in today's culture of Justin Bieber, Jersey Shore, and Twilight, where every song on the radio, every program on television and every site on the internet is just another monument to the pinnacle of human stupidity, it's certainly not the worst thing that people could be watching.
Just ordered Devour for Power and Mirror Mastery... I'll probably pick up Political Puppets a bit later (doesn't seem to be in demand as much).
I'm excited about the Sol Rings, Command Towers, Homeward Path, and the general buff to the collection. But I'm more excited about making a deck for my girlfriend to have using these cards! She's played with mine a lot but I want her to have something that she actually owns.
I'm going for 1. Mirror Mastery, then 2. Political Puppets, because there are some pretty sweet R and U cards in Puppets I can use to fill out and improve Mastery.
Can someone fix the Celestial Force issue in the first post already?
(For those who missed it - Celestial Force is not in Heavenly Inferno (Heavenly Inferno had the correct number of cards before it was added); rather it is in Counterpunch, replacing the mistaken inclusion of Spectral Force.)
1: Devour for Power: the B and G cards in this are so choice, plus Sad Robot and O-Stone
2: Counterpunch: Pretty meh, but I'll have some fun building around the new generals
3: Heavenly Inferno: Some interesting new R and W cards
4: Mirror Mastery: Has a pretty solid set of cards in each of its colors
5: Political Puppets: Not bad, but not much I'd use in my decks.
Seeing Ruination in the pre-con made me LOL after having two of my three opponents (both 5 color vs my mono-red) concede and block me on MTGO on turn four after I cast it in my Squee, Goblin Nabob deck. It was the only LD spell I even played in it.

(Sorry for my english)
That deck is ridiculous on mana. 41 lands, 4 mana artifacts, 4 creatures with landcycling, 3 or 4 mana creatures, 3 or 4 mana ramp spells. I'm probably going to end up taking out 6 lands for more goodies.
They are not uniformly distributed? That's weird. I always thought wizards was keen to keep the same number of rares in each. Get devour, I guess. Has way more rares...

Why is WoTC so averse to printing actual "good" (expensive) cards in these types of sets? I'm not saying these sets are garbage because there are certainly a fair number of reasonable cards in each deck, plus all the new cards, but I kind of expected a higher caliber overall, especially with the land base.
This would have been a great opportunity for them to print some of the sought after lands (obviously not the ones on the reserve list) and other hard-to-find cards that are becoming rather expensive.
Furthermore, besides the handful of good cards in these sets, any "serious" EDH player would probably replace about 50+ cards from each set with better ones that do the job more efficiently.
I dunno... good for people that don't know anything about MTG and are trying to get into EDH but for longtime players these are not very good.

There's no point because if they made the product too good then the product would be marked up sky high (look at how much FTV: Relics went for above the MSRP), and they'd be bought out by sellers and the chase cards opened and sold as singles, so the entire idea of making staples widely available/accessible directly from the hands of Wizards through product would be defeated by the secondary market.

FTV: Relics (Like all FTVs) went above the MSRP because a limited supply were distributed, and those were only distributed to LGS stores.

I guess I'm just hopeful that WoTC would actually show that they care about the fact that some of the older staples are reaching ridiculous prices and try to reprint some of the non-reserve-list ones in sets like this.
Really had high hopes for it actually.
They need to just release some Masters Edition set in paper form where we can get FoW's, Wastelands, Karakas, all that kind of stuff. They'll make boatloads of money off the sales and it will improve other formats dramatically.
edit: in regards to the secondary market, if they just released "Masters Edition Booster Packs" or something for $3.99 MSRP that included cards like I mentioned above, the price of said cards would plummet. If they ran tens or hundreds of thousands of packs then it would drop FoW's price for example from $75 or w/e to like $5 and there wouldn't even be a secondary market frenzy anymore in regards to those cards. It would be a beautiful thing.
