I rather like this version of Jace. Even so, if anyone posted this version in the design forums any time recently they`d probably have had it altered beyond repair or completely not commented upon. (The latter is prolly more likely.)
What I really like about this Jace is that it gives you two main routes. There`s the draw ability which leads you to the ultimate, or there`s the mill ability which is more of a workhorse. Odds are you`re going to pick one or the other right off. Both "Modes" are pretty strong.
Mode 1: Draw cards, eventually get to ultimate. Give someone twenty cards. Win.*
Mode 2: Milltack for ten every turn. Win.**
Both modes take approximately the same amout of time, but will garner a win in different ways. If your deck is more mill active, mode two is probably your route of choice. If your deck's got more control cards, either route is acceptable. If your deck's just got Jace to draw cards, you're probably going to go the first route.
*Void in decks with insufficent defence and/or decks which draw no wins.
**Void where mill-proof decks are in the metagame.
So turn 7 you can make your opponent draw 20 cards, make them discard their hand and draw another 20 with the archivist leaving them at most 4 cards in their library? True, they get a god hand for a bit, but that is what counter magic is for.
You can even win turn 7 if you use two proliferate spells.
I may be the only one that really appreciates this card. Memory adept seems very fitting especially with what we've known what Jace had done to Tezzeret and to Baltrice.
This card is very flavorful and I'd like one for collection reasons alone.
everyone is complaining too much before the card and blocks even see play... all planeswalkers are OP compared to other cards... just let him have his day first... then when he doesn't do anything, call him crap...
I actually really like this Jace. He seems to be roughly on the level of Jace 1.0 in my opinion. Sure, he sucks against control, but a + ability which provides raw card advantage seems pretty gamebreaking in control mirrors. Alternatively, he iscapable of closing the game out very fast without losing loyalty. Finally, as some others have mentioned, his mill could have useful applications when pointed at yourself if INN does turn out to be graveyard based.

I primarily play limited, so most of my spoiler season comments view cards through that lens.
I don't know, seems pretty strong.
With mana accel; in a UB deck, can be killers.
5 is a bit much; but a 0 cost glimpse every turn? really?
Since we can't see in the picture; I really hope it's a -2... or something like that.

I'll admit that, yes, right now Jace, Memory Adept kinda sucks. He's only good for mill and card draw (which, if I recall, is a big Blue theme, right?). That all may make him kinda useless right now, but he's probably being printed in preparation for an Innistrad-based Standard. I'm going to go ahead and say we can probably ignore this Jace until October.
I'm also kind of thinking that Wizards is going to slow the game down a bit. Everyone's been complaining about how pointless Sorin is because of his cost, so why not make his cost more tolerable by slowing the game down? That may make even this "expensive" Jace reasonable.
I'll agree with everyone else about planeswalkers "protecting themselves", too. Protect your own darn 'walkers, especially the Blue ones. Jace is too busy wrecking your opponent's brain to protect himself. That's why you're there.
Edit: And I'll be holding onto the below quote for when/if Jace, Memory Adept ends up being amazing.
Uhh, Blightsteel Colossus has the same ability, and it's not going anywhere for a while.
No...Colossus does not have the same ability as the Eldrazi...not even close.
This new Jace is too expensive and just bad right now to see anything but random FNM play...I'd rather have Jace 1.0. The only upside is that maybe Innistrad can make this card awesome but I'm sure that won't happen.
That is so narrow. With BUG you have reanimate and Dredge AND the best Proliferate and Infect cards in the format. I can see him being a huge part of BUG for a while.
Also, Jace 3 says, "That Bojuka Bog was cute, but let's do it again!"
Oh yeah, and the coolest new graveyard general in a while.

For my casual mill deck, absolutely. I'd play him with my Hedron Crabs for the small amount of time that's legal. Otherwise I doubt he'd see much play unless graveyard reanimation becomes a bigger theme.
Really? Brainstorming for free every turn wasn't bad enough? Now for 1 more than JTMS you can Glimpse your opponent every turn for free? Yeah, this won't be pricey at all.....
JTMS was so expensive because he made every blue deck better. This is so narrow it will only see play in a few fringe decks. This will be $12 by the time it settles.
His ult is gonna be tough to get to. So that leaves his mill 10 to be his most useful tool. While not great, it will be interesting to see if any type of mill gets into an FNM...

I think he has value just as a basic CA engine. Drawing an extra card every turn while gaining loyalty is pretty big. 5 cmc is a bit hard, but a deck that really is going to put that CA to good use can survive to get there.
Please read Blightsteel Colossus and Emrakul, the Aeons Torn.
There is a pretty big difference between these graveyard abilities.

I think the biggest problem here is he can't be on the field at the same time as Jace B. which is the best draw-engine blue currently has access to.

It doesn't matter, that is why you play this with his little blue buddy and force them to draw at the end to kill them.
