I was just thinking about Devils, and at the same time what INN's red theme was going to be. Oddly I didn't sync the two thoughts, and I actually thought they'd never really expand on devils because they were afraid of lawsuits. I hope this isn't just a single spell with no connection to a devil theme.
So people can run 8 Confidants in Eternal formats?
Sure, why not.
IT could be
1B sorcery you can an emblem that does Confidant.
Can't get rid of it.
Seems okay.
I'm hoping for a Confidant reprint, he seems like he'd be fine in Standard.

There's no way that this is a functional bob reprint. I also wouldn't mind bob being reprinted. I don't know what to make of the name as far as what the card would do. Hopefully it's black CA.
They restored much of the occult imagery and occult references in recent years. Unholy Strength was reprinted, as was Lord of the Pit.
Magic is large enough now that card names like Devil's Play aren't going to get any more press or outrage than the game already has. Besides, Harry Potter, Twilight and Marilyn Manson/ICP have made the occult trendy. Magic isn't going to take much of a hit from going a bit darker.

No one cares if you like the art.
It's a children's card game, not an art exhibition in SoHo.

You might think that balances it (since you can never remove your "Bob" leading to an inevitable death), but making a Bob that your opponent can never stop would be outrageously broken.
"Idle hands are the devil's play things"...I'd bet anything this messes with hands or steals things from other player's hands. Whether its red, black, blue, or a combination remains to be seen obviously as we know nearly nothing :p.

Wait a second someone said lawsuit, who would sue? the pope? for using The Devil™. the only reason they don't use God™, or Grizzly Bears for that matter is because they want Magic to have its own feel , they are going to make Devil's Play a fully unique card with its own magic feel to it, im sure it will be awesome, just like Runeclaw Bears or Day of Judgement!

so thats why they changed grizzlys to runeclaw? hmm
"Grizzy Bears" was changed for being too mundane. Grizzly Bears are a normal, every-day creature; they didn't really fit in a game about mages dueling with magical creatures and spells. And it was weird that multiple bears were only a 2/2.
The change from Wrath of God to Day of Judgment wasn't (just) about the use of the word God. It was at least in part because of the desire to tone down the amount of spells that say "can't be regenerated" in order to make regeneration matter more often.

Clearly I was going after the trademark aspect there, not zealous christian parents...or whatever reason they avoided demons way too much or took the pentagram out of unholy strength. Nope, it was clearly because someone owned a trademark.
Adaptive Automaton as a Devil lord seems pretty fun. It definitely doesn't sound like a creature though. I guess we will just have to wait to find out.

(That would be hysterical, but I bet this is just some "Draw X cards RFG X cards from your library, lost X life, sac X creatures" kind of spell.)

No. Devils are basically fallen angels. Demons are evil spirits. This is according to Abrahamic traditions.

Possibly letting you steal stuff from people's hands?
I need spoilers of INN now :D...
So..
Anyone knows when the spoilers stars?
Hmm, I see a pattern here
Not in Magic the Gathering.
Devils are... Well, they're red (With a hint of black) and kinda weird-looking. They're shrimpy compared to Demons.
See Scourge Devil and Squealing Devil.
