Dude xcric you had to mention jesus after he said no relgious talk.
I hope this card is something good, i hate when the buy-a-box isnt any good. Its nice when they give you an incentive to buy a box that is worth buying a box for. Im gonna say that its probably a black spell. Meaning that its for sure overcosted judging by the results of the last release. It probably punishes a player for not playing cards in a turn (idle hands)
Hope this is cool.
although
haven't there been a lot of black buy-a-box promo's recently?
Memoricide and Cranial Extraction were both promos, right? *shrug*
I ran into the name "Devil's Game" offsite before seeing this. "Devil's Play" sounds a lot better, to me. It makes me think "play" as in the theater, or maybe chess, and sounds more Diablo Swing Orchestra than Rob Zombie. tl;dr I have weird standards.
I am, though, genuinely curious about what it does. Like with all the Buy-a-Box promos. I'm gonna guess that it'll be useful but not top-of-the-line.
As an additional cost to cast Devil's Play, use a ceremonial dagger to puncture your finger so the blood flows freely. Then use your blood to draw a pentagram and summon a devil.
For the duration of this game, the devil plays your turns.
Do not turn to religious/occult discussions in this thread, even as jokes. We're not going to derail this, and it's not appropriate for this section of the site. Infracted.
i feel the post i just made was deleted for some reason... anyway, heres my thoughts
Devil's Play
2BR
instant - rare
Choose one — Target creature gets +0/+1, Target creature gets +0/-1, Target creature gets +1/+0, Target creature gets -1/+0; Or Destroy target artifact, Destroy target land, Destroy target Enchantment and destroy target creature.
flashback — Pay ten life or sacrifice 4 creatures or 2 lands or 2 enchantments or 3 artifacts.
or
Devil's Play
BR
instant rare
target creature gains bands
the latter is far more devilish
It was deleted because custom card designs are not allowed in the rumor mill. You received a warning for it already, continuing to do so will result in an infraction.
sorry mod, didn't realize that, didn't even know i had a warning. won't happen again.
Also, do not edit a post after a moderator has edited it. This is a verbal warning in lieu of an additional infraction.
This thread is just gonna be basless speculation and infractions until it gets locked, and not even reopened becuase by the time the real card is spoiled this thread will be pages behind... save everyone time and lock it now lol

just hope its not a chase rare, that is all.
promo art chase rates are always nice. I hope it is, I wish everything was a chase rare.
BUT I hope it is a multicolored card. mono colored sucks.
I wouldn't really consider the three measly Devils that've appeared in Magic to show one way or the other how they're set to exist in the Magic multiverse, nor would I say that it makes them even somewhat established. Frankly, I also disagree that MTG doesn't draw from D&D outside of generic fantasy monsters. You really wouldn't have Magic without D&D, just as you probably wouldn't have D&D without Tolkien before it and so on. Much of the fantasy concepts people take for granted throughout Magic's history or don't give a second thought to will find roots in D&D.
The two more-recently printed Devils share several elements (Smallish, without flying, red with a hint of black) and their arts are physically similar. There's no reason for them to change that, especially since Demons already fit Lawful Evil perfectly fine in Magic and two modern Devils are obvious Chaotic Evil.
Vedalken don't come from D&D. Just because much of Magic was inspired by D&D does not mean everything in Magic is inspired by D&D.

I feel like it'd be a little similar to Skirsdag Cultist, being mostly red but with a touch of black (the "sac for cost" just feels most black to me). Hey, the Skirsdag in general are BR. So, uh, something very red but with a little leaning toward black sounds reasonable. (So, I guess, in that respect, a Gamble knockoff, which someone probably suggested, isn't too ludicrous, as far as concept goes.)
For some reason, this topic made me want to create a Devil in CCC.
Finally WotC realizes that no one really cares about "religious references" in the game. It's a fantasy card game. Next step: Unholy Strength reprint, art redone with the old flaming pentagram in the back!
This card name reminds me of the early days of the game. That is totally awesome.
Zomg so they might bring back STDs in this block. Stone throwing devils in desperate need a of a reprint. In other news ravnica was a guy who made magic block and had a devil in it. Oh yeah it is not confirmed we will be playing with devil's merely that the devil plays which is good to know and essential info. Anyway, really excited about this block.
On another note it is possible the devil is actually holding a play. Perhaps theater plays a part in this upcoming occult world of vampires and demons?

In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck ********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like this to occur and validate you.
I don't know if you did this on purpose or not, but Magic cards is not the first thing I thought of reading the above.
On topic: I'm curious to see what the card will end up being. If it is for Innistrad and it is a Graveyard block, maybe this could be something that brings a creature back from the grave into play?
I don't.

R Citizen Cane (Feldon of the Third Path)
That dissension mechanic makes that creature more rakdos than red, as it is fairly unplayable for anything but BR.
I say the color is a toss-up here. People just have black on their mind because of innistrad and FFL.

you can't possibly imagine how much i want it to be like Goblin Game, a card to this day, whose existence i question

Considering the dates the newer Devils were printed (One as recently as Alara block), I'd say it does make a convention.

If it's RB, will have something random included (you pick a random card from your opponent hand and may play it)?
I'm a Spike Vorthos - I love lore and flavor, but only if the cards are competition worthy.
