She's holding the chained veil though, so it's set after the events from the webcomic (in which she was a PW). The absence of her tattoo work is mysterious though ...

Listen to my M:tG flavor Podcast: Story Circle! (Newest episode is all about Innistrad previews.)
i thought (cause ive read that several times on this forum, esp as that pic came up) that her tatoos only show up when she is using magic, which she isnt while sitting on her throne obviously
Exactly. Every piece of card art so far has shown her with the tattoos because they've all shown her casting a spell or otherwise drawing mana.
Awesome!
I've been complaining about the distinct lack of werewolves in MtG ever since I started playing a few years ago. The announcement of werewolves (in my favorite color, red, no less!) makes me extremely happy!

I thought the tattoos were more a mark of her demonic pacts. As we saw though the Curse of the Chain Veil storyline, she'd been going after and trying to kill the demons that she had those pacts with, having been able to surpass their power with the help of the veil.
At such a point, with the pacts nulled, she'd draw mana and cast magic without them being present.
Well, those cards are all banned in their respective blocks, banned in legacy and restricted in vintage. In modern formats onwards, blue, by its nature is always going to be overpowered, every blue planeswalker has been used in several formats unlike black planeswalkers who've been thrown into the occasional deck or two.
Just because the 2 black Planeswalkers in the past were overcosted and mostly unplayable doesn't mean that they won't have outstanding black 'walkers in the future.
I once farted during the final match for prizes at an FNM. It was a tense moment, everything was quiet, control vs control, I was about to mana leak, thought about it.. and farted. Then mana leaked.
As far as I am aware the markings on her skin are a symbol of the demonic pact she has made. Its demonic writing etched in her skin, it surfaces whenever she draws mana for spells. With the absence of spellcasting there, she could be free of the pacts of not. Last we saw Liliana was off to find the other demons she had made pacts with. This was a long while ago. By now she could be free, however I feel this may be a key element of Innistrad. Liliana may be after her last pactholder.

Next person to say Sorin is becoming w/b will be teleported to Jin-Gitaxias' labs with a sign saying 'everything usable except for the brain'.
We have been practically told it won't happen. If (and this is an if so large it alters weather patterns) Sorin adds a color, it will likely be red. And even then, hedonism (which seems to be the main argument for) is still black. Self-indulgence is black.
Just came back from Comic Con and was at Steve Arglye's booth. This was a print he was selling, new Lillian Vess for Innistrad. I didn't buy the print, but did get a playmat of this artwork.

Oh man, that is a wacky illustration. I guess Argyle has taken to the school of "as long as the rack is right, to hell with the rest of the anatomy!" Oh well. I guess the place where the corset strings together across her stomach ~could~ be straight but with that much shoulder/hip twisting she must have a few extra bones holding up that midsection.

Honestly, considering she is walking down a shallow set of stairs, the pose makes perfect sense. Contrapposto has been used for millennia for that dynamic look, and, although the stance is slightly exaggerated, the pose is still highly believable. Her weight is simply on her front leg as she descends the step. I cannot say the same for whatever pose Jade Mage was contorted into. I personally think this is a refreshing piece, especially compared to the three new anime art planeswalkers we got in M12.
Hey all, I was at the panel and just wanted to share a few stories.
The panel started at 5:30, but people started lining up around 4:00. Getting in line 90 minutes ahead of time isn't that odd for Comic-con (people wait 4-5 hours to get into Hall H and Ballroom 20 where the big panels are); what was odd was that the room the MtG panel was in only seated 350 people. By the time they started letting us in it looked like there were about 700 people lined up.
While we were waiting, MaRo walked through the line, introduced himself to people, signed things and took pictures.
New Liliana has been playtested and we were told she's "very good."
They gave out a bunch of cool prizes to people who asked good questions. The guy who asked about playtesting for eternal formats got a set of Black Lotus sleeves used by Wizards playtesters. These have never been released for sale. Someone who asked a question about PTQs got an invitation to play in the World Championships. A guy who asked, "What's the deal with Modern?" ended up walking away with a sealed box of Italian Legends. They also gave away a pack of Arabian Nights, which the guy promptly opened to find a Library of Alexandria. The kid with the Creepy Dolls painting asked what the process was for putting art on Magic cards, and the last guy to ask a question got a pack of Beta: his rare was Island.

I like to hear this, but I also don't like to hear this.
If she's Elspeth good, I love it, if she's Mindsculptor good, I will but ten the day they come out and hoard a treasure the same way I did with Nocturnus, Jace, Gideon and Rakdos.

Yeah, I gotta agree with this. That lace-up section should be curved.

They really should. I'm tired of seeing all these good looking people.
Give me a few Jabba the Hut or the female version on a planeswalker.
