I once farted during the final match for prizes at an FNM. It was a tense moment, everything was quiet, control vs control, I was about to mana leak, thought about it.. and farted. Then mana leaked.
If you doubt the book being canon on those merits then every single book published in recent times is not canon.
Not only that, it is unfair for these authors these days. Wizards hires an author and they have to read every book from every block and remember every little detail so they don't make a mistake that doesn't work with earlier books?
It's a good reason why they have a lot of new blocks to write on instead of continuing old stories with new authors.
My problem with Venser's death always was that no card represented it.
There should have been a card in NPH saying something about it.
I mean I think your being sarcastic, but just incase Remember the Fallen pretty much makes it obvious Venser is dead. Why he has such a gigantic helmet, I could say.

They're pretty much making new settings to avoid clashing with the older continuity then just these details they failed to consult/weed out with one another? And damaging ones at that... I mean, if what happened with Quest for Karn passed by Creative then they should've had released that Liliana novel.
You know what is unfair? Being promised of a better handling of the storyline after that Mending fiasco only for the quality to sink lower and lower.
And to add insult to the injury, apparently the writer in charge with Quest for Karn was an in-house author. Was it that hard to go and consult your superiors for clarification on just 2 things?

This! Lucas has held on to creative rights for SW for years, but every author was out-of-house. They still had to submit it to Lucas to ensure that there wasn't any problems. In the 35 since the first movie, the first continuity snarls started appearing with the Clone Wars movie.
And this is a setting basically like Magic, only with places revisited more often. We've been to Mirrodin twice, Ravnica twice, Kamigawa one and a half times and a whole bunch of Dominaria. In SW, with the far easier travel, they've visited Tatooine, Kashyyyk, Coruscant far more times and many planets have visits at least twice with no continuity issues.

BTW, MaRo let us know via his Tumblr that Innistrad will introduce the Werewolf creature type to Magic. So no backwards compatibility with Wolves, it looks like.
So we finally get an out-and-out smoking hot male planeswalker that doesn't look like an anime character, a pretty boy in a pond full of pretty girls, and they kill him off before the year is out?!?
I quit Magic. They could at least attempt to cater to the ccg-players-who-also-love-looking-at-pretty-males demographic.

Sorin doesn't do it for you? Gideon? Ral Zarek? No?
Well, I'm sure they'll make another pretty boy some day.
---
Werewolf creature type eh? I wonder if this'll be the start of a new tribe. It's possible that ISD will feature tribal as a sub-theme, as revealed at SDCC, but that the tribes therein will not all be familiar ones. (Save zombies.) This could explain the amphin, a Salamander tribe. WOTC could rationalize this as wanting to branch out, and free design from having to maintain creature-type patterns. Instead of yet another block with merfolks/wizards/elves/beasts etc doing their usual thing, they could start fresh with a new salamander/werewolf tribe. This way they could capitalize on flavor, instead of maintaining the status quo. It would be bad for cross-block synergy, but I'm sure they'd write an article or two on why it was necessary to forsake all that magic has established.
So perhaps Salamanders are the GU tribe, and Geists are the GW tribe. Food for thought...

salamanders should be RU to be compatable with the old red ones they could also turn Greater Werewolf back to his old type
So there goes the cool potential for Werewolf and Wolf tribal synergy. That is actually a functional change to Treacherous Werewolf. Or is he going to be a Werewolf Wolf Minion?
just something i noticed that i thought i'd share with you guys. more reason to believe that the Dotp 2012 cards are the real thing for Innistrad. Vamps are B/R, and if you look at Bloodgift Demon's flavor text, He relishes the devotion of his Skirsdag puppets and their belief that it will earn them immortality.
it mentions the Skirsdag, which are the red card that was spoiled which talks about "Within blood is life. Within life is fire. Within fire is the path to our master's glory!"
i dont know if this was mentioned or anything, but i thought it was interesting

Lol. The people playing 5-color elves at FNM are a bigger demographic. I too wish they had kept venser around though. Killing him off for a minor plot point was bad enough. At least give us a u/x teferi with a spark. I understand the need to cleanse karn, but couldn't some part of urza deep within him just have gotten outraged at the rebirth of Phyrexia and cleansed him or something? /rant
I'm looking forward to the Tribes fighting the darkness/horrors. Also please make a u/g leviathan named Dagon, wotc. That is all.
Because conservative bias is a far, far worse thing. Liberal bias doesn't, statistically speaking, make people stupid. Conservative bias (or at least Fox's version of it) does.
I wish they'd have killed off a riskier character. Killing a cool walker with no almost no play gets no emotional reaction. I mean, I felt the pain but I'm pretty hardcore on the Vorthos wagon. Killing off Elspeth or Ajani would have had a much bigger "noooooooooooooo!" factor. Killing off Venser is like killing off one of the housekeepers in Forrest Gump. Who gives a damn.
They kill of Venser, the artificer trying to build a ship that can travel between planes? Why even mention that he was doing that if he was just going to die? And why kill him so soon after making him an important character?
And, worse, he gets killed by the Phyrexians, the borg like creatures that, in their new form, don't even have a way to travel between planes! Why!?
Oh, that's right, because Venser will become the new Father of Machines, and use his plane-traveling ship to make Phyrexia a real threat again. That's why. Venser isn't dead folks (well, he is, but you know what I mean), he is just changing teams.
Maro said on Tumblr that the second planeswalker in the block has been printed before. I'm thinking Sorin will be in Dark Ascension, so this one could be Ajani maybe? Some white to balance out all this black would be cool.
But what about Dirty Wererat and Werebear? Are they gonna make Wererat and Werebear creature types just for them!? Or will there be Wererats and Werebears in Innistrad too?

Isn't Garruk still hunting Lil? Did a show-down ever occur between them? Though i felt that since Garruk got a new card in M12, he wouldn't be in ISD. Same goes for Sorin, i guess (that he's in M12, so he wouldn't be in the proceeding set). Though it's inevitable that two walkers of the same sub-type are in adjacent sets (different versions). From what we know, there's no elves on ISD, so Nissa seems kinda useless. Sarkhan/Tezz are still, presumably under Bolas's control. Perhaps Bolas learns of the veil and wants it too?
Ajani has been unusually AWOL, Gideon has filled in as the "good old white guy", but Ajani's purpose in the story-line would be unclear.
In general, what other planeswalkers beside Garruk and Sorin would have business on Innistrad?

Well, I just am going to still go with Garruk for that one - the Duel Decks mean something after all!
I'm pretty sure Karn Liberated represents it quite nicely.
