Allow me to apologize now for the misconception of the Helvault to be of any specific weight. The TO aforementioned in SyntheticDreamer's post is me. The specified weight is baseless speculation due to me being hyped up since I had just spoken to my WOTC rep. The only real information I have received was the height of the Helvault itself. But considering the large number of posts due to my recklessness (albeit trivial), I will leave by saying it's over 9000! (Yes, I couldn't help myself.)
The only other information that I received was:
We will probably not find nor receive any information about the Helvault until each tier is opened at the event. (From our end anyway.)
They pretty much begged me not to open it early. (No problems here.)

Lately, WOTC has been lowering the bar about what we should expect of their products.
Indeed. The bar is set at why bother level. Which don't get me wrong is great because I feel no need to make arrangements to go to events anymore. It was becoming a burden to feel the need to go to them at the distance in which they were due to what WOTC offered. Now they have the bar set at a level in which it does not matter if you attend or not. It is good for the casual, and it doesn't effect anyone at any point. I believe that is where they are trying to set the bar which they have indeed met.

They have said they were stopping this for Prerelease Promos... not nessessarily for one time events like this.
My bet still goes to T-shirts or something like spindowns or slap braclets. TEAM AVACYN... *ugh*
I don't think so, the hype surrounding this is pretty big. I bet this will be like the treasures expect to see random cards from older sets. heck even a good old pile of tokens would be better than random T-shirts.

Pretty much. They can't make the prizes so good that people, once finding out about them, will refuse to play in any event other than a Helvault, potentially leaving one store to go to another.
Now the question is this - how many stores are going to raise the entry fee on their Helvault events?
*edit - post #666 is talking about the Helvault. Oddly appropriate...
None. They don't know what's in there either, and if it turns out to be worthless then the backlash kills them.
Well unfortunately, we all know that someone in a small shop is going to have an extra or something stupid and crack it open before they are suppoed to.
If that happens and the prizes are awesome, expect word to spread and the store hopping to occur in larger markets.

What I don't understand is why they can't just simply make the Helvault event the main attraction. Like, part of the usual sealed event as well. So this ridiculous race-to-the-store doesn't have to happen.
Reprints the one card that people point to when saying that art objectifies women.
Well done Wizards.
Liliana does not objectify women in any way at all. We have gotten to a point in our society that every single picture of a women must be objectifying a women in some negative way......blah blah blah.. That is not the case. (((Sarcasm)))Picture of a girl drinking a milk shake, must be sex related and putting women down, picture of girl sitting on a beach, picture of a girl driving a car, picture of a girl on the moon at a new space station.)))
You have a picture of an attractive strong power women who girls dress up as for anime conventions. What more do you want? The picture is fine, happy to see a reprint. Sick of of seeing people claim that everything in existence must be putting women down. Then all I have to do is replace the word "women" with anything else to get the same mentality; fish, cats, arabs, blacks, jews, men, environment, whites, chinese, old people, etc. It doesn't matter what word I put in. Stop sucking life out of everything man. That artwork of her is awesome. Stop putting stuff down man. Just stop. If the picture was really as negative as you claim she would totally nude, in a kitchen, making sandwiches and giving blow jobs. Her abilities would be horrible as well. +1 do nothing -2 do nothing -6 do nothing. Instead liliana of the veil is an amazing planeswalker comparable to jace, the mind sculpter with great art to appreciate.
My suggestion listen to some comedy radio for a while, pandora is free, youtube is free there is something out there for you. ***** go make fun of somebody. The whole world is so serious and campaigning for some cause, or someones rights, everything is a hate crime, racist, sexist. blah blah blah.
"O no mcdonalds must be slandering a hate crime against skinny people every time they make a big mac." hahaha jeeze You're just someone perpetuating another groups negative perspective that they've made you believe is correct. Look at the picture for a hour and tell me what's wrong with it? I don't see anything.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
I would assume that, since you're supposed to open up the Helvault as the event goes on, that store to store hopping won't do you any good, unless you define hopping as 'sitting in a store for 3 hours playing'...

Well, if you're in an area that's running multiple events at different times during the day and you have time to go from one to another, it's possible to hop from store to store.

Drumming up expectation and interest is what good marketing is about. I'd say that so far the helvault is doing a pretty good job of that.
Well "FREESTUFFFTW" helps.
@Titus/Gryfalia... part of the issue that I'm refering to is that sometimes in a large city, there are multiple stores already running multiple events over the weekend at different times to avoid conflicting directly. You might go to a smaller shop where there is less compitition and a smaller group of 15-20 players where the Vault will be cracked "faster" than a larger store... then hop over to the next event that starts later and keep hopping.
Not that this is a bad thing I guess, but if the Vault gets cracked early enough on for some reason, I could see people dropping and skipping off to the next place after getting the swag.
I think it's going to be various cards. From what I've seen, the whole purpose of the event is to break open the helvault. We're not sure exactly what's going to be in there, but when we break it open, it would make sense for it to be cards of various demons, and altered art griselbrand and Avacyn.

I'm not even sure what you're saying here, but most stores that are big enough to have these things will have more than one. The store closest to me isn't even one of the bigger event stores and they anticipate getting two of them. They will have one at the midnight release (which ensures that people won't be store jumping because I expect every store to open one at midnight), and one during the Sunday sealed event.
There won't be any "race-to-the-store" shenanigans because the people who really want to play in these things will have multiple opportunities unless they live in some far out small place with only one local gaming store. Anyone in a decent sized market who wants to play in one of these releases will probably have no problem doing so.
The sky is not falling, people. Everyone back inside, move along, move along.
Don't forget that the thing inside the Helvault could be something new, that is revealed within AVR's storyline. It's the perfect chance to introduce some person(s) or object with multiverse implications, aside from Avacyn and Griselbrand. But I doubt they'd steal their thunder with something secret.
One thing I'm curious about; How many angels and demons are there on Innistrad? How many of (both?) were contained in the vault? Why is it that there seems to be so few angels right now, but more when Avacyn debuts?
The sky is not falling, people. Everyone back inside, move along, move along.
Totally not implying that it is. SImply stating that in my area it's quite possible for someone to hit up a midnight on Friday, then a 9am, then a 2pm, then a 5pm Helavault event by store hopping the smaller shops. And that doesn't count Sunday. But I suspect the demand for whatever is in these things won't be THAT major, and it's likely something cool mixed with some stuff that a few people won't even care about. It's a fun promotion, but outside of a cute promo... I won't expect all three prizes to blow the doors off.

It was mentioned in a StF, I believe; whilst Demons and Angels are both creatures of Mana, and can thus just re-coalesce when defeated, on Innistrad, Demons are able to revive individually. However, Avacyn's flights rely on her power in order to revive; the Angels are still present, as evidenced with Angel of Flight Alabaster (whose duty only requires leading spirits to the next life, not face-to-face fighting, so she can still work) and Requiem Angel, but if they are defeated, they're gone, no come-backs. Properly dead.
Thus, Avacyn's numerous legions of angels have retreated behind the clouds, despairing in the knowledge that they must let the humans suffer, because if they can remain alive until Avacyn is restored, they will be worth more to the humans. They COULD make one last push against the forces of evil, but almost all of them will be slain, resulting in the humans receiving a respite from the evils of Innistrad, maybe even for a period of years. However, the forces of evil would return with a vengeance, and there would be no angels left. Basically, imagine that there are a couple of hundred angels hiding behind each cloud on ISD/DKA artwork.
There are obviously a handful of heretical angels such as Angelic Overseer who have moved to getting their invincibility from the hope of humanity instead of Avacyn's divine power, but they're few and far between, mostly because humans are so squishy; Angelic Overseer looks nice now, but if you die, she could get taken down by an Insectile Aberration of all things. There must also be some like Saint Traft's guardian angel, who manages to resurrect thanks to some older power (just like Divination, magic without Avacyn does exist on Innistrad, it's just people aren't used to it anymore) or simply isn't afraid enough of permanent death to stay away from fighting with the spirit of the man she loves.
Once Avacyn is restored, all three Flights will be able to descend and assist their leader with the eradication of evil from the plane, safe in the knowledge that if they may be defeated, they will return to continue fighting in Avacyn's name. Thus "legions of angels have been given a renewed purpose".

It's just that "ridiculous race-to-the-store" sounds dangerously close to panic mode. And, let's face it, Magic nerds (myself included) have been sent into panic mode over lesser things.
SImply stating that in my area it's quite possible for someone to hit up a midnight on Friday, then a 9am, then a 2pm, then a 5pm Helavault event by store hopping the smaller shops. And that doesn't count Sunday.
So what? If someone wants to spend over $100 on something that in all probability won't come close to being worth that much, what does it matter? If a store expects trouble from these things they'll do pre-registration and the first people to sign up will be the ones to get the goods. No skin off anyone's back.
Besides, if someone does do what you suggest (which could easily be done where I live, too, there's at least 6 stores running pre-releases here), what does it matter? If they have the gas money and the desire to get multiples of the Magic fairy dust in these things then good for them.
This would be a really good a way for Wizards to start doing Planechase promos again... They could do a Helvault plane card and throw it inside the Helvault, and it would attract attention to Planechase right before Planchase 2.
It's a Helvault within the Helvault!

My guess would be: deckboxes, dice and tokens.
My guess.
This is unlikely IMO.
1) Avacyn and Griselbrand (being the 2 leaders of the main opposing factions) will more then likely be of Mythic rarity.
2) WOTC has said they're stopping Mythic promos as they effect the value of the cards too drastically.

As if making promos of non-tournament staple cards is any different.
I don't think there will be any planes cards in the helvault, but I don't think your reason for discounting the idea is very strong.
I stand by what I said, two different promo cards and some goofy other thing. Who wants to bet against me?
