So far we know that player rewards are gone, no more incentive to play fnm(planeswalker points), no more good( mythic rare) cards at pre/release events, and last ( but certainly not least ) they are giving away oversized cards(unplayable). I'd be happier if they just told me the truth.

Well, to be fair, some of the release promos and rare prerelease promos kicked ... donkey.
Ya those where in the pre-mythic days. Now most of the good cards are being saved for mythics.
If the pre-release promo's where cards like snap caster mage, gravecrawler and cavern of souls then you would have a point.
A 40 dollar mythic rare would constitute a must have 4 of that goes in many decks.
Stats About Mythics
-Mythics are on average 40% rarer than pre-mythic rares
(old blocks about 200 rares, Mythic blocks 35+ mythics)
-They are printing more new cards a year not less
(about 665 now vs. 630 in most pre-mythic block)
-To drop the value of a rare by $1 a mythic must go up $2
-In a 3 year time span deck prices doubled. I am petitioning for the removal of mythic rarity. Sig this to join the cause.
Yeah, I'm totally excited for the prerelease / release cards nowadays... oh wait, no I'm not, they've pretty much sucked for the last couple sets. There's the occasional gem (Metamorph, Hero) [INN block ones all sucked. Seriously, disagree with me against this one], but I still say they need to evaluate their picks better as most are nearly unplayable. It's really not that hard to pick a chase rare and / or mythic. They couldn't have given us Snapcaster over Ludevic's Test Subject, or the sort? I still say the prerelease and release cards should be chase rares or mythics to reasonably depress the market initially, while still allowing for plenty of product opening.

Vexing Shusher is definitely not Mythic material. I don't think that Figure of Destiny is either, but a case could be made for him.
You guys didn't like my previous examples, so how about Restoration Angel? That's a card that's far from useless, it appeals to the angel collectors, and it's the release promo for this set. Gravecrawler was the Buy-A-Box promo, so they did give it out.

Well, that's kind of their argument: they very much do not want to depress the market initially (or at all) by handing out chase rares. I think that they need to balance that against not handing out cards that are completely useless (I won't argue that the INN PR/R cards went straight into a binder, and the only one I'm considering building around is Mayor), but they have come out and said that they don't want to devalue mythics by giving them away wholesale at the prerelease.

Ooh forget about that one. Looking forward more to the release than to the prerelease now. That is an actual useful card, and still in flavor (for the Angel set).
How does the release card work? Do they give them out to everyone who goes to the FNM on releaes day or just the winners?
If I'm remembering right everyone gets the release card and then the winners get a full art killing wave?
You remember incorrectly; you're thinking of Game Day. Everyone gets a Latch Spirit, and top 8 get Killing Wave.
They're doing a new thing with this release. It maybe given to everyone who plays FNM that day, or possibly given to everyone who plays at all that weekend. Unclear as yet.

Looks like other people are reporting getting angel-themed Judge promos (Exalted Angel and Decree of Justice) along with all foil tokens. I guess Wizards decided to screw some people over and give others really nice prizes.

It's like buying a pack of cards without knowing its contents. You cannot blame the Wizards for not having them all be the same. This also adds to variation and not actually knowing what is inside. This will draw in players rather than having them know what is already there and being disappointed.

Uh, that's exactly what players can (and will) do. It's sketchy to begin with - why would WotC put 54 judge promos in a single helvault and not 1 promo in each helvault, with instructions to hand out the promo to the pre-release winner/collector of most achievements? Obviously, this needs to be confirmed, but if it's true, it's really mind-blowing how far WotC Marketing has it's head up it's own ass.
I got a foil oversized Griselbrand, foil angel/demon token, non-foil angel/demon token, spindown die, and the Exalted Angel judge promo.
By the way, pretty much everyone seemed excited by the prizes. There was lots of trading going on for the oversized cards and they really enjoyed getting the achievements on their card so they could go break a seal.

I admit, I'll be really bummed if this is true AND my helvault doesn't have any judge promos.
But, if I really think about it I have nothing to complain about. Did I pay extra for this prerelease? nope. Am I excited at the mere prospect of getting a judge foil? yep.
Its very similar to the "priceless treasures" thing they did with Zendikar. Obviously, not every box of zendikar would have an expensive, old card, but the (free) possibility was cool and enticing.
Its like playing the lottery, without having to buy a ticket.
I was pretty bummed at hearing what the default contents of the helvault were, and I would agree that only the default contents would have been a bad marketing move on WotC's part. But this? If true, this changes everything.

I figured that this random way would be the only reliable way to minimize the chance that some people will open their stuff early on and spoil EVERYTHING the day they got their Helvault.
So, well played, WotC, well played ..

No foils in our helvault. Just regular dice, oversized legendaries and tokens.
I call shenanigans on any foils in Helvault. If that was really the case, don't you think more people would have made pictures of it?

Im going to go with the more typical response to such things. Eithor they provide unequivocal proof that this actually happenned, or they are automatically assumed to be liars. A couple of random individuals claiming such things dont hold much creedance in my eyes.

They could put different good things in each helvault.
They are lucky no one cracked one of the ones with the judge promos, imagine how pissed players would be if they got crap but where expecting judge promos.
