Well she shales in comparison to kiora, but Varaska looks very pumiceing.
You just have to marble at the way she can protect herself, of quatz burn spells put her between a rock and a hard place.
Those are my sediments anyway.

If combo should die before I wake I'll slide a Smokestack in every deck I play, roll in every shop wreck the Spirit of EDH.
Oh man, surprised someone hasn't tried to go deep with her ultimate and suggest using populate with it. Planeswalkers usually take everyone to magical christmasland.
Geez...This thing is monsterous. The only thing stopping her from being absolutely busted is the various hate spells and abilities that seem to be cropping up in this set. In pre-rotation I'd say she's auto-playable simply because she's so difficult to kill, and that ultimate is scarily easy to pull off. Amazing design, Golgari rejoice!
Is Vraska one of the Sisters of Stone Death? During the rav arc, 2 of the three died, and the third was soundly beaten. That sounds catastrophic enough to be a spark-igniting experience...

Vraska looks like a really fun card, not sure how viable she is in constructed though. (Well, asides from being in a control deck or 2 of on the sideboard) She's got cool abilities and is just an overall well designed card, got to give props to Wizards for making much more interesting (and balanced) planeswalkers. Also, the art by Aleksi Briclot is just a bonus.

“My abusive words are filled with forty grams of copper, twenty five grams of zinc, fifteen grams of nickel, five grams of embarrassment and ninety seven kilograms of spite.”
Whoa, that is redonk. Unless you have very solid board presence before she hits, or a spell that will directly deal with her, she's very difficult to deal with. And in three turns she starts pooping out Phage tokens, yikes!
It's an interesting design for sure. Her +1 does nothing on it's own. If the opponent doesn't attack her then it actually just doesn't do anything. But her middle ability is very strong, it's like getting Karn's strongest/most useful ability for 2 mana cheaper.
For 5 mana, a little disappointing. I guess not every 5 mana planeswalker can be Gideon Jura tho.
Seems like it was designed almost specifically for multiplayer.
...What?! Did you read the card?! Its amazing! It makes Gideon Jura look like Relentless...And it makes Relentless look like The Sojourner...And it makes The Sojourner look like Ablaze! Honestly this card is insane!
I have NEVER been a BG player before but this card makes we want to give it a spin.

My work schedule requires me to work several doubles, so it may take me a couple of days to respond to messages.
Oh man. I hope sometime, in the future, while I still play magic, Vraska teams up with Tibalt to create some sort of nightmarish plotpoint. I just think those two would make a really cool unit. Both of them new, with only self serving ideals. She seeks out her vengence, while he comes along for the ride, grotuetously assisting her in a bloody....something.
ALTERNATE SITUATION: How lamentable is this character? She has transcendented a normal gorgon, and is still one of the last of her species, at least on this plane. And once she cools down (kills everyone), what can she do? She can't exactly have a one on one with someone, like jace, because she can't be looked at directly, and obviously instills fear. I for one cannot wait to see the future of this character; Her future inspires me.

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?
Vraska... a walker I actually think could turn out to be pretty fun. Welp, time to set the starting bid at $40 and watch her crash to (hopefully) under $10 ASAP.
I'll have to check out the mothership for her story. Her name sounds eerily familiar.

Legendary Creature – Human Designer (MR)
Brian Tinsman, Set Designer can only be cast during the third set of a block.
When Brian Tinsman, Set Designer enters the battlefield, ignore all flavor and mechanics of the first two sets in the block. "Ok so what do we have here... gothic horror? Scrap it. Expand the Devine Vs. Demonic duel deck to 244 cards and print it!"

Vraska is decent, but I think people are seriously overvaluing her +1. It doesn't actively do anything, which means anybody with a reasonable board presence can reasonably ignore her and go straight for the dome. The -3 is painful, but it only fires once every four turns, which should give you enough time to find a replacement threat (and if you're playing with hexproofcreatures, all the better). The -7 simply reinforces the importance of having creatures. My verdict: solid role player in certain matchups, but not the all-star that some people are making her out to be. I'd put her around the level of Garruk Relentless.
It never left. You can't stop the rock; only bury it for a little.

Once again, Jenna, thank you for the beautiful story. So that explains why the Gorgon suddenly disappeared in part 1.
But wow, that was pretty quick for a Boros soldier to become a Gorgon sympathizer.
A pretty nasty gorgon; either you kill her in one shot, or she'll be killing your army one by one. Second ability also damn awesome. Last ability would make a fine finisher.
Planeswalker looks busted, but it is not, how she is good largely depends on who misplays. Gideon is a little better since his +1 will always do something. Vraska's +1 can simply be ignored, and if you do the -3 she loses her protection, ultimate is usually only for fun. 5/5 in Flavor though.
What's with unleash? Seems like the potential of unleash is not yet unleashed.
..Her + 1 reads: your opponent will ignore me allowing you build me up! Good enough for me! Isn't that what we want? All walker's minor abilities don't have a ton of presence anyway so might as well count for something. Seriously, let it be ignored! This is a good thing! I can't remember the last time I said a card was amazing...This card is amazing!

Yeah.. But she costs 3BG dude.. i know Karn can "kill" PW too, and Sorin with his Ultimate..
Just sayin, 3BG and can kill ur PW and keep mine alive is sweet
Look, I admit that the new PW is cool, costs 3 less than bolas, with one less color, but she is still a pretty far cry from bolas status.
First off, if you have a hard time dropping bolas with 8 mana available, you are either god awful at building a deck, or he shouldn't be there. Second, read the ability that lets the new PW kill another PW. Costs -3 LC right? Well, Bolas' GIVES you 3 LC. Plus, his Ult is by no means ambiguous, and is so much harder to prevent. The Gorgon's is easy to chump block. All Day. And while though you can Artful dodge, any control will destroy it.
So, my point is, though they can both kill PW, Bolas is WAY more effective, and he doesn't have many easy fixes to his ability. Plus, Bolas can get +3 LC for popping off a land. Craterize, every turn, for 0 mana, and you get LC for it. Wonderful.
If it would mean Wizards has access to the Golden Legal Army of Disney and could slay the Reserved List, I for one would welcome our new rodent overlords.
This card also has the distinction of being my least favorite art on a card in the set thus far,... he looks... Out of place to say the least. His face seems to say: "I'm only wearing this outfit because if I don't Niv will eat my family."

How is her +1 not considered a green thing? If anything I see green. -2 b/g. ult b. Imo course.
This is why I'm your number one fangirl. Erm... Boy.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)

She doesn't target with her +1, doesn't matter, as long as something deals combat damage to her it dies
It's like saying Honor of the Pure and Wrath of God targets and cannot affect Hexproof creatures
