what cards skyrocketed in price due to commander and aren't on the reserved lists?
The other question is will they avoid cards they have already reprinted in the other commander sets or will they print those card because they are good in commander?
Doubling Season has been about that expensive since it was in standard. It's kind of the exception. (yes, that means it was really pricy before planeswalkers existed) Of course, it's one of the most obvious casual hits ever.
Make a list of 20 staples for a deck archetype in EDH and you still have 80 cards left over. Make a list of 20 staples for a deck archetype in a 60 card format and you're lucky if you have enough slots in your sideboard. EDH was supposed to be a format where cards that couldn't see play elsewhere because of deck sizes being too restrictive or games being too short (and therefore not hitting high mana totals) could become powerful, format-defining cards. So many EDH players hate Time Warp, but the fact of the matter is that Time Warp is the poster child of what the format has always been all about. It's worthless almost everywhere, but in EDH it's absurdly good.
The fact of the matter is that the moment a format gets a large playerbase, people WILL identify certain cards that are simply always worth running. The fact that these cards are good is not inherently problematic. It's only when these staple slots go beyond merely being very good and step into being game-winners in their own right, like Staff of Domination, that they become an issue. Sol Ring? All it does is make it so that the parts of the game that the format is all about - the big plays that other formats dream of making possible - start sooner.
I think you meant Time Stretch.
Staff of Domination isn't all that game winning. Its problem is that it's just useless unless it's a combo piece. I'm surprised it didn't become legal again like Worldgorger and Lion's Eye Diamond. It's not like any of those cards have "fun" uses.

... Derp. Yeah, I meant Time Stretch. Kinda woozy and sleep deprived thanks to a nose that won't stop running and all the meds I've been using to deal with it.
In any case, Staff of Domination most assuredly is game-winning. All it needs is an infinite mana source and it puts your deck into your hand and taps all your opponents' creatures, and it very often ends up being part of infinite mana combos itself thanks to its ability to untap creatures that generate large quantities of mana. Even without infinite mana, EDH decks regularly ramp well into the teens by late midgame, making a resolved Staff of Domination an absolutely crushing advantage.
To be clear, I don't support Sheldon Menery's banned list because I don't support any list that includes cards for being "un-fun"... but as far as Staff of Domination is concerned, they definitely made the right call.
What I love about commander is that it encourages casual play without putting an emphasis on competition. Before commander made it big, I could build casual decks IRL and have no one to really play them against. (My LGS is super-competitive). All the premium deck series did was cause people to shark up the foils and shove them in their legacy decks . I also hate the premium foiling process.

Hopefully, the card(s) foiled are randomly inserted, similar to booster packs, or more standardized, ala' the preconstructed decks we typically see with each new set.
If the whole product is foil, it will be more money saved by myself, as I cannot stand foil.
Still, I cannot wait to see the contents. Perhaps it will contain an even spread of colors, lands, artifacts, and multicolored cards.
Alternatively, a full set of Painlands and their patriarch, the city of Brass would be sweet, as well as some/all the join forces cards and commander-only rares from the Commander boxed sets.
Regardless, reprinting cards is a good thing.
Cheers!
God, if it's not already in FTV: Realms I'd kill for a black-bordered City of Brass in the Commander's Arsenal.
I'm also hoping for Legendary creatures out the bum-hole. In particular, anything from Legends that CAN be reprinted. For the record:

I have no idea what you're talking about. Doubling Season was NEVER an "expensive" card during standard. It was NEVER run in a top 8 deck. It didn't increase in price until Planeswalkers were spoiled. It remained a $1-3 rare it's entire life between spoiler season until the end of Time Spiral.
I remember this well because when I sold my collection, I happened to send 9 of the damn things with it. It certainly was NOT even a $10 card at the time.
I'm also hoping for Legendary creatures out the bum-hole. In particular, anything from Legends that CAN be reprinted.
I hope you're wrong, and would be surprised if the set contains any creature. It's called cmdr: arsenal, not cmdr: garrison! I expect staple utility cards. I hope they leave off reprinting creatures to actual commander decks, not filler sets like this one.

I have to disagree with this. The way I'm reading this it seems to be a product designed to introduce new players to the Commander format of Magic. Staple utility spells will likely be reprinted, but you can't build a Commander deck without a commander. I'm expecting reprints of Legendary Creatures that building a deck around wouldn't be too difficult such as Rhys the Redeemed, Rafiq of the Many, and Stonebrow, Krosan Hero. I would also hope for reprints of the Elder Dragons of which granted Commander its original name. The fact that they mentioned oversized cards pretty much confirmed that they'd be printing Legendary Creatures and mention of "first time foils" hint that some of them may come from Legends.
I hope FTV: Realm will satisfy any need for lands. Look at the name of the set!

I would not be surprised though if at the very least they reprinted the 2/3c legendary creatures from the commander decks in here so they got foiled.

Worldgorger can be really useful for "hiding" creatures from Wraths and etc.
I use it in dragonstorm and if I have 4 dragons I have two under world gorger and two in play.
Collector's Edition-Commander: With ABU lands, Wastes, Strip Mines, Force, Mana Crypt, all Tutors including Imperial Seal, etc. With a special border and the "only legal in Commander" clause.
There's your solution for stuff that will sell like hot-cakes among the casual crowd but won't be hoarded by greedy store owners for their rich T1 crew.
Would buy cases.
Foil Power? Foil Duals? Foily goodness for casual play?

Less blowouts.
But Worldgorger Dragon opens you up to being blown out by any instant speed removal.
So, essentially we're getting Premium Deck Series: Commander + sleeves (obviously with the PDS being all singletons). Awesome! As someone who has to have everythihng foil, this is great news!
One question... who's going to do the sleeves? Ultra Pro, because they're officially licensed to do MTG, or someone cheaper?

I'm pretty sure that the Commander's Arsenal name comes from the fact that it comes with a bunch of stuff to play the commander format such as a die, sleeves, deck box, etc. and it probably has no bearing on what type of commander cards are in the arsenal. I would expect both reprints of Legendary Creatures and some commander staples.
My fear is if you have some foil commander staples, a reprint will totally kill any value of your cards. I'm someone who has invested years of buying and trading to completely foil out my Karador commander deck and I'll be pissed if my foil Genesis is now worth $5 due to a reprint. I guess that's the chance you take when you own cards that are not on the reserved list.
I don't think the good edh cards would tank in value if foil reprints came along. Look at ulamog still a 14 dollar ftv foil or a 30 dollar real foil. Same as kiki jiki - sure its played in other formats but dominated in edh due to combo. I currently have foils of urborg tomb and dryad arbor. after seeing ftv realms I am now worried about the tank of value town on these cards. REAL FOILS ARE AND ALWAYS WILL BE BETTER.
And then theres cards like Akroma's Memorial isn't an edh card no one play's that card competitively. It's a casual card.
Or look at leagcy cards like Entomb 18 dollar premium card and a 25 dollar non foil and a 50 dollar reg foil...WEIRD
I think oversize cards of really popular generals (like Thraximundar) would be awesome. I love using 'em but don't use the Commander generals much lately.

Yea, I did not think I had to say "what is the realistic solution that will not drive large number of players away and perhaps destroy public support of the game", but apparently that was not as obvious for some.
1. Remove support for all non-modern eternal formats,

Sure, it may be terrible in a 1v1 deck. But that's like saying a card is a "legacy card" because it's good in a 8 player free for all "legacy" game.
Commander is multiplayer, just like legacy is 1v1. You can adjust the rules if you like, but then your experience is in no way connected to what the majority would consider a "commander card" or a "legacy card".

Nowhere has it been officially said that this will be an all foil product...actually I am not sure that it has been confirmed that this will have any foils.

While you are correct that DS was inexpensive for a long time after it was printed, it was not Planeswalkers that upped the price in to the $10+ range. It did not get that expensive until Sept. 2009, so about 2 years after PW were introduced. My guess is that the increase in price has been largely due to the increasing popularity of Commander. That was about the time I started messing around with the format, and I did so because I saw it starting to become popular at the shops.
The funny thing is I have tried to "break" Planeswakers with DS (which is what wizards believes would be the case if it was reprinted in a block), and have never done more than just have a cool synergy.
I don't think they should print too many cards already in Modern Black-Bordered Frame. I think WOTC should concentrate on printing more cards from the earlier sets (e.g Legends to Onslaught era) that are good in EDH/Commander and which haven't been reprinted before in a Modern Frame.
This. Well said too because it's very difficult to fight off swarms of people buying out one specific deck/box for a specific card. I hope they print a ton of arsenals for november and that they distribute the value of decks better. Commander last summer was baller but dealing with people buying out boxes for ooze or fluster was a joke. Then those specific cards were so overpriced. Ruined the market for people who wanted a product to have fun with more than anything else.
People scrambling for Counterpunch (Ooze) didn't start until WAY after the product was out of print.
It was readily available for 8 months, then became an issue when Maverick exploded and supply was lower.
While in print (and for several months after) you could easily go into a Target or any LGS and grab product for retail.

Off the top of my head, some cards that are pricey just because of EDH (and maybe casual in a few cases):
Vampiric Tutor
Demonic Tutor
Enlightened Tutor
Sylvan Tutor
Genesis
Bribery
Karmic Guide
Phyrexian Altar
Vigor
Desertion
Thraximunder
Mana Reflection
Sylvan Library
Temporal Manipulation
High Market
Phyrexian Tower
Idyllic Tutor
Woodfall Primus (though I think this gets used in a Legacy deck?)
Stonehewer Giant
Gauntlet of Power
Decree of Pain
And then there's a lot of stuff in the $4~ range like
Coalition Relic
Rings of Brighthearth
Blatant Thievery
Burgeoning
Black Market
Future Sight
Darksteel Plate
All would make fine reprints.
