This is only Mythic because of flavor...It is one of the worst cards ive seen in awhile. You cant use it till turn 4 and then every other turn thereafter. You might win on turn 22 or something ...ugh no thanks.
The best part about this reveal is that it's card 152 of 156, which means at least 4 other lands in this set. Enough maybe for a cycle!...
And no, the shocks and guildgates are not included in the set numbering.
Shocks no, Gates yes. The Shocks have been stated to be printed with their RTR/GTC Set emblems, but the Gates are printing with DGM emblems. So the lands would be:
That land needed to be an uncommon or something. I would just rip that damn thing to shreds if I get it as my mythic rare. /Irrational
I was under the impression that this was only on the land sheet. In other words, it will only ever be opened in the land slot and never in the normal rare slot.

If that's true then it's very good news. Being mythic means it eats up less Shock land slots.
So it's a worse Thawing Glaciers huh? Weak. I guess it returns on activation so you can replay it if you can play multiple lands per turn but that seem pretty weak to me considering the etb tapped thing.
disappointed in the name. This signifies you already have all the lands and have reached the end. Oh well.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see how evenly distributed gates are in draft formats to see how good this card is
That, and you know what they say. If Wizards started shipping $100 bills in boosters tomorrow, people would scream and cry and whine that they were folded the wrong way.

Saying "It's a worse Thawing Glaciers" Is kinda wrong. Unlike glaciers, it taps for mana itself and gets lands that produce two colors of mana. I'd consider it a lateral movement from Thawing Glaciers. And Thawing Glaciers is an absolutely fine card.

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)

[QUOTE=Taylor;/comments/5657307]Still, seems like a really hard win con since there's not a lot of ways to get a gate into play, other than as your land drop. The deck couldn't really win until turn 11, which makes it slower than Door to Nothingness.
Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

Having an unstoppable, inevitable win-con sounds like it might be pretty good for control decks. No one can counter a land drop, and you also can't Detention Sphere or O-Ring it.
Keep in mind that Nephalia Drownyard, as the win-condition for Esper, can take quite a while to whittle a deck down for the win. My bet is that if this new card will ever have a home, it will be in control decks.
A not too christmas-land scenario would be if you're in a control vs. control match up (and those can go really long), this new card provides a pretty much unbeatable win-con, save for land-hate, which is fairly non-existent and will probably only come in from the SB anyway. Same goes for Bant Control mirrors.
Nevertheless, it is still a lot of hoops to jump through.
I'm kinda glad to have silly-out there mythic cards that are flavorful more than OP every deck needs them mythics. I'm against mythic to begin with, but at least this way, as a collector, prices don't get too inflated on the card.
Not a great card, but you could easily build a fun deck around it. Urban Evolution and Unexpected Results would work wonderfully for it, considering it's not legendary.

There is also I think almost enough Gate support. You have the Gate version of Arbor Elf. You have the Shade, and you have that enchantment that lets your gates ping a person. All, in all, I feel like a gate deck may be coming xD.

Shocks aren't, but the guildgates are.
Shocks no, Gates yes. The Shocks have been stated to be printed with their RTR/GTC Set emblems, but the Gates are printing with DGM emblems. So the lands would be:
Azorius, Boros, Dimir, Golgari, Gruul, Izzet Gate
Maze's End
Orzhov, Rakdos, Selesnya, Simic Gate

Bad card is bad. Must like Tibalt R&D changed a fun usable card into a $0.25 card.
Even RTR and GTC promo cards were better looking and functioned better than this.
Decks used- GGarruk vs LilianaB, WElsepth vs TezzeretU, WGKnights vs DragonsR
WGRAjani vs BolasRUB, WUVenser vs KothR, RUIzzet vs GolgariGB.
WBSorin vs TibaltBR, WRHeros vs Monsters RG
