Interestingly, I think these are likely to be much better in slower decks (e.g., control) than in fast aggro. The EtB tapped drawback tends to be more punishing to faster decks, and the benefit of scrying from some of your lands will be more pronounced if your deck is set up to play long games with high land counts.
Edit: Though I do have to say that it's kind of neat that the RG dual has synergy with Domri.
Too me, I am glad decks like boros agro and gruul agro DON"T get lands that always come into play untapped. Also, I am seeing a lot of disappointment in this thread. I was slightly disappointed at first, but we have been spoiled with a great...no...excellent mana base since gatecrash.
However I could see why it's slightly upsetting that they are rare. Maybe giving the option of not scrying and coming into play untapped would have pushed them to rare. Like I said above though, I am totally fine with a limited mana base.
Oh you certainly could, you just put the land on the bottom and probably another one right after it. Evowilds removes a land from the deck. Too close to EW to be a rare.
The scariest part of these god awful lands is a quote in the article itself:
I'm just happy we didn't get the "balanced" versions.
At this point, my hope is that Theros design represents a scaling back in power level for all subsequent sets, and not just a widespread design failure that has afflicted the entire company. Because the design of these cards, and a disproportionate number of others in the set, is alarmingly out of touch with competitive constructed Magic.
I think we did get the "balanced" versions. My guess is these used to be Scry 2 and they toned them down because they thought Scry 2 would be too good.
There's no way they started like this... nobody takes a guildgate, adds Scry 1 and thinks "we may have gone too far..."
No they won't. Scry 1 >>>>>>> Nothing. Every competitive player will run these, just gotta deal with the fact they suck.
There's these cards called Gatecreeper Vine and Gatekeepers (the Green is actually pretty decent) with or without Maze's End with all doing pretty well in Block...
It's an instant speed 5/5 trampler for 4. Wtf do you people want seriously? It has applications in populate/ above the curve beats decks, or in Bant control/ flash. I seriously think anyone mad at this card for any reason other than losing an attacker to instant speed wurm, should go home and make their own awesome card game and leave the rest of us alone.
I also don't see these lands skyrocketing in price, which is another reason I am totally fine with these land. I know that sounds like a terrible reason but if my wallet is happy, I am happy
I've never met a bigger bunch of babies than on these forums. These lands are great and I cant wait to use them. Our standard has been very lucky with the shocks and the check lands. This set has been awesome and these lands are fine. All the work they put into the gate, do you really think they'd let them die with new shocks or filter lands?
What are you going on about with gates? Gates suck, period. We are mad because these are rares, which sucks. The cards are great, for uncommons.

These lands are a sick joke to make everyone play hot potato when theros rotates. I can't wait to see how early they drop, it's gonna be crazy planning when to get rid of these duds.
They are just good enough to have demand in standard for the scry effect over guildgates, but no one is going to enjoy paying $5-10 for these things.
These lands are god awful as rares. You don't want to open these as the only decks that will want to play them at all are blue based control decks. For constructed they are very meh, as outside of control you don't want them. Burning Earth is a thing but playing a lot of basics and praying to the mana gods is about to be the course of action. And honestly that sucks.
The fact that the Scrys are Gatecrash though make me wonder. I've been assuming they were going with the Allied colours for the Mythics cause what we saw was allied plus Medomai who was assumed U/W Mythic Could they be matching the mythics to the lands though? If so what does that mean for Medmoai, could he be B/U?
I couldn't care less about the rarity issue because I've never played a game of limited in my life and don't intend to, but I think these are awesome. Can't wait to play with them.
You should. If you actually like playing magic you'll probably enjoy it. It feels like you improve your magic mechanics by practicing the format. Your fundamentals lets say.

This is perfectly acceptable I think. People complaining are actual cry babies.

The bad thing is these will probably be dollar rares no one wants after rotation.
