Don't get why people complains about its rarity, seems perfectly legit. However, i think is a fake, but i really hope that is real. Good card for control.
will u/r control even exist? maybe u/r tokens lol (yes uwr, but will it even still live post-rotation?)
Fact or Fiction is already of a high power level card. It being an Uncommon at the time was somewhat questionable. Add in that they've extended the rarity base to 4 rarities, and it makes perfect sense for a card that is comparable to Fact or Fiction to be Rare. This fits the model for a utility rare perfectly.
It's also well placed in its colours, with the Red element being the chance of your opponent picking the set of cards you least want. It's plenty powerful, but instead puts the onus on the caster to out think his or her opponent, instead of on the opponent to out think the caster.

One of the best spells in set, so far.
I think with this card, the decision making process is split between you and your opponent. You, dividing those into two piles; and your opponent, choosing what he "thinks" is least beneficial for you. Both requires thinking and time - complex. Definitely rare level.
I would argue that this is a more skill-intensive card (obviously not talking about the 4 land 1 creature split).
Why isn't it called truth or dare!!!??? (Sobs uncontrollably)
That would have been a nice parallel to fof. I think rare is okay on this kind of card, and I was a part of the war cry for the scy duals being uncommon.

Feel free to tell me yours!
For those arguing that this should be at Uncommon to parallel FoF, do you also think that Thoughtseize should be reprinted at Uncommon, given that it is a (nearly) unrestricted Discard effect?

May your games be chaotic and your decks be Rogue.
I can't think of anything more boring than a rare draw spell. Not exactly a fan of mythic blue sun's zenith anyhow. I don't like the grease for decks to be rare and that was one of my issues with the original RTR and rare removal.

It's more of a shame that Choice of Damnations was already taken as a name, since that would also fit. I like the flip from FoF in letting you seperate the piles, and then having your opponent choose which group you get to keep.

By the way, this is arguably more powerful than Fact or Fiction. Fact or Fiction was a ludicrously difficult card to play against. This is definitely going to be a skill-testing card, count on it.
The only skill in this card is the skill of realizing you shouldn't play it. Letting the opponent pick the pile you get kills any chance of this card being good.
S(t)eams real. Not overpowered, captures some enthusiasm of previous iterations but mixes it up appropriately given the infusion of red. Matches flavor without trying too hard (which for this set, so far, is saying something). It should exist.
I like it and want it for EDH, type 4, and maybe, who knows, some sort of Grixis control build with a hint of reanimator in Standard.
At minimum, you can manipulate this so you draw cards equal to Inspiration. At best, you can manipulate this to draw you cards equal to Opportunity. That's anywhere from a 4-mana to a 6-mana effect as well as you occasionally getting some selectivity from your draw and also dumping stuff into your graveyard. That's definitely worth four mana.
hm Just saw this is instant... well ok I can believe this is real. I just don't like the idea that it's red.
I think this is real. The number of the card, the new artwork, and the artist make me think that it is way too realistic to be fake. Great card though. Not sure I am going to use it cause of this color combination is not my thing.
After seeing 5 rare slots go to uncommon lands you're really going to discuss design excuses? We already saw MaRo discuss the reason for the lands to exist at rare even if it was a terrible one.

UW Control (:symu: :symw:)
Don't forget the scry lands being at rare. Also, don't forget Domestication. However, I'd say that Fact or Fiction isn't that out of place at rare.

There is a GB rare in Theros. There also isn't a GB temple in Theros.
There are also RB cards and we still haven't seen WB ones.

If that were a solid reason, then innistrad would have had enemy color tribal rather than allied color pairings
