Don't understand why everyone hates the art...
Jace looks very much like his character at this point, a tired scholar and politician sick of everyone's garbage, and Vraska looks appropriately menacing and spooky.
I have to say that they need to make up some sort of pattern with these Duel Decks. It's okay if you want to reprint Planeswalkers and certain other spells that are no longer easily obtainable, I understand that. But why not give us some...consistency? Some reliability? I mean, I would have rather seen another tribal theme Duel Deck instead of the ridiculous Heroes vs. Monsters thing we have now, especially when the Boros Heroes deck is the most disjointed thing ever and the Gruul Monsters deck is little more than Gruul Bloodthirst with some cycling thrown in.
Awesome, Jace really needed a reprint too (do note that I have four Jaces already). I'm excited for this duel deck. Though I think it would have been the nuts if it was Jace vs Domri Rade. Maybe they can do Gideon or Ral Zarek vs Domri later.

I doubt we'll ever be returning to Ravnica for a third time. Why would they bother to do two Ravnican Duel Decks?
Both Mark and Doug have pretty much said "yeah, it's gonna happen eventually" on their tumblrs.
I hope the idea blows up in their faces and serve them right. They managed to make RTR block engrossing enough this time, but they'll be really struggling to reimagine Ravnica a third time.
They're really pushing their luck. Thing about luck is that if you push it too hard you'll fall flat on your face when it breaks into a billion pieces.
Are we going to have to endure Mirrodin a third time too? Please, God, no. Anything but that. I'd rather do Kamigawa or even Zendikar 2.0

Of course not, Mirrodin is destroyed.
Now New Phyrexia... yeah, we're going back there. Zendikar as well. We've been told in no uncertain terms they plan to go back to address the story left dangling.
I know it's difficult to remember what Gideon is doing since he keeps getting distracted, but that is kind of what his story is building towards after all.
Wizards print good rares, players complain about cash grab. They print underwhelming rares, players complain that the cards suck. They spoil the best cards first, players complain about the insane prices of preorders. They spoil the meh cards first, players complain that this is the worst set ever.
So. I think I understand now.
As far as these forums are concerned, WotC can never do anything good because:
Card that is new and probably good = "pushed"
Card that is new and probably bad = "EDH/casual fodder"
Card that is a reprint = "lazy"
Card that is a better version of an older card = "power creep"
Card that is a weaker version of an older card = "worthless"
I'm pretty sure they'll give up on New Phyrexia as a lost cause, since, you know, not even Karn, the creator of Mirrodin, was able to remove the Phyrexian presence, and that was even with the help of other Planeswalkers and the entire Mirran resistance. It'll become the de facto base of Phyrexia as they prepare to transmit their insanity to other planes, but that's about it.
The Eldrazi...well, compared to Mirrodin, Zendikar hasn't got anything to worry about.

Eh, they'll have to eventually deal with New Phyrexia. Same as the last time Phyrexia was a thing.
But even then, we're getting glimpses of how the cold civil war is going. Elesh Norn is currently winning.
Incidentally, the entire Mirran Resistance is really not all that impressive.

It's been all but confirmed on Rosewater's blog and elsewhere that Mirrodin, Zendikar, Ravnica, (and possibly Innistrad) will all be revisited someday.
What's to be gained from revisiting New Phyrexia/Mirrodin? The rebellion was utterly crushed, now the Praetors are fighting amongst themselves, but you know what? Phyrexia isn't going to die to in-fighting. Even if it's just Norn left at the very end with the bodies of all the other praetors in a bloody heap next to her, Phyrexia will still be Phyrexia. I'll admit it would be novel to play as a Phyrexian fighting against other Phyrexians, but it would be an extremely ugly block to play in. You remember drafting New Phyrexia and playing with only those cards? Imagine if the whole block was like that. That's what I'm deathly afraid of.
I wouldn't mind Innistrad again, even though the only deck I could afford to play was G/W Humans. Didn't get to play in Zendikar block, so that wouldn't be bad either, I guess.
The art just looks more like they're going out on a date than they are dueling.
Like "Darnit Vraska you're petrifying people again. You're embarrasing me."
Vraska looks fine. Jace pretty weird, but still not as bad as Jace, the Wrist-Cutter, who's head looks as though it's being eaten by a bird.
I have to say that Emo Jace is much better than this. I think the main problem is 1. He's not in an exciting position. 2. He's not doing any magic or even glowing. And 3. He's BUFF. He totally looks like he's on roids. And he has no neck.
So MSRP of $20 with the two PW's having a current minimum TCG player value of almost $30 and the first 4 pages are literally NOTHING but complaining about the art (and someone saying "there better be good reprints"). How about "thank god they're going to bring down the value of Jace, which costs more than the MSRP alone, instead of reprinting Gideon".

Okay, I'll be willing to admit that AOT Jace nets you card advantage, but that +1 ability screams to be something else. A +1 that's a Turn to Frog would have been worlds better, but as a result, his -2 would have suffered. Anyway, he's not THAT good, not when you've got Ashiok exiling cards left, right, and center.
Gideon would have been worse, but only because he's a complete joke in this block as it is.

I'll be seriously upset if they try to make a mill-based deck with AOT Jace piloting it. Talk about putting sprinkles on a turd sundae.
And I hope for Vraska's sake they're a little less conventional, not to mention a little less lazy.
Honestly, Jace looks like he had too much MacDonalds...
