Kruphix is going straaaaight into my Bant Superfriends deck. Nothing like banking unused mana at the end of your opponent's turn for a Sphinx's and Syncopate n stuff.
The word "instead" replaces the rule that removes mana from your mana pool as steps and phases end. I agree, it's a kind of obfuscated wording at first glance, but much more elegant than the other cards we've seen with similar abilities.
I'll have to think about Kruphix for a while. I'm sure you could do some silly things with accumulating mana...and he is indestructible...
Prohet is kind of.... meh? I like the synergy with Prophet of Kruphix, who is already the Osama Bin Laden of EDH (Kill on sight)... but it just feels boring and uneventful. But hey maybe it's actually terrifying. Not sure yet.
That burn spell is a better flame slash in certain decks. I like it.
The wording on the god is kind of off. Doesn't say anything about mana staying in the mana pool. Just that it turns colorless.
It says that the mana turns colorless instead, which implies that the mana stays because the action that the emptying of your mana pool is being replaced by another action and therefore stays because it doesn't empty.
That does make me wonder if the mana that stays in your mana pool keeps any other characteristics like "Came from a basic land" for cards like Imperiosaur or "This spell can't be countered by spells and abilities" from Boseiju, etc.
Kruphix is underwhelming but everyone had really high and unreasonable hopes for him. On a second glance he's not that bad. What bothers me is that he synergizes with his Prophet almost too well. Clearly built for Commander in mind and that's fine.
The wording is a bit unclear but it's technically correct. I can imagine some players not understanding how it works because the card doesn't explicitly say "stays in your mana pool".
Kruphix works hilariously well with his prophet. Drop prophet t3-4, then Kruphix on your opponent's turn, then next turn play stuff, then on your opponent's turn keep your mana up. If you don't play anything, just dump it into Kruphix.
I'm an EDH player. I was quite disappointed that there weren't enough really Johnny cards in this set...I stand corrected. Spite of Mogis could be a disgusting killer in Izzet decks. And Kruphix in EDH? All the mana. Always. Forever. I mean, the fact that it turns colorless makes it a little harder to work around, but when all you have to worry about is specified mana for the rest of the game, in EDH where you have 7-12 lands on average? Psh. NBD. Pus, as a Johnny, I appreciate the new design space. I wonder if he's foreshadowing some color-matters subtheme in this set, more than just devotion?

I really love Kruphix and his effect, and I don't even play U/G in EDH. It's really too bad that people are so far beyond the point of being able to look at a card objectively instead of passing judgment based on preconceived notions and their opinion on what it should be.

You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
Kruphix is really good with Braid of Fire in EDH, as you'll actually get to keep the mana, and in a few turns you'll be getting Eldrazi mana each turn. Unfortunately, that means you'll need a RUG general.
Isn't there a RUG general that needs lots of mana?

Kruphix is really quirky, I like that. He does certainly fit the "turbo" theme pretty well that they seem to have been going for with the GU cards in this block.
Also interesting how already there are so many differing opinions on whether he is good or bad. I think the design is polarizing, which is fine in my book. The EDH crowd should at least be mildly pleased.

It is a replacement effect. So when the mana would empty, instead it just gets converted to colorless mana instead. There is no emptying anymore.

Also, Spite is a really cool removal spell that might have some eternal implications.

Actually, we came up with a hell of a lot of options here: http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/magic-fundamentals/the-rumor-mill/speculation/543150-what-can-kruphix-do-that-isnt-redundant
About 90% are either broken or unplayable, but we made them. My favorite was giving him Fateseal 1 on each opponent's upkeep.
