$10 msrp may be wizards way of keeping too much of it from hitting the market. I would gladly still draft mm1 at $25-30. If this set is similar quality, I don't see the price being an issue for the market as a whole.
10 bucks a pack. Does this mean that the booster box (if contains 36 packs) will be roughly 360 dollars? Thats almost as much as MM1 boosters TODAY! And they have been out of print for like 9 years. Also, 36 packs per box? or will it be a smaller box?
My local game store refused to sell modern masters by the pack. They would only sell for drafts. This is going to be the same, with a higher price. Rediculous. Simply rediculous.
If you read the release the boxes are the same size as MM, 24 packs per booster box.
Price is a bit higher, I hope limited print run means it's still more than MM I think it will be. remember limited print run just means they will not reprint it to demand, it speaks nothing of the actual size of the initial run.

Thanks. I also noticed on the MM1 wiki page that it said it has 229 cards in total. This one, however, is showing 249 cards. Thats a bonus I guess? 10 bucks a pack though. Can't wait to see the spoiler!
EDIT: Also, itll piss me off if thats the new art for Etched Champ. Just a new bg?
It's not like you could find Modern Masters packs anywhere for MSRP (which, iirc, was $7). Every store I heard of was selling them for $10+. I wouldn't complain about the markup in MSRP as much as the potential markup of what stores sell them for, which is 100% based on the value in the set. If you're paying $14 per pack, it's because your expected value is high enough to warrant it.
I can't get excited for this. All the game stores in my (extended) area bought as much Modern Masters 1 as they could and sold them on ebay. I have to assume the same thing is going to happen this time around.
Everyone here is complaining that it costs 10$, but I am sure you will all still buy the packs/cards. WoTC obviously had the same thought. If the price is really too high for you, show WoTC: don't buy their packs and don't support the demand for modern cards by buying them.
Personally, I think 10$ is fine. People will pay it and it means WoTC, the company that makes the game we are all obsessed with is making money, that is not a bad thing for us players.
What about those stores that don't sell packs unless you draft? What about those stores that jack the price up due to limited print run. I would be extremely surprised to find packs for $10. Wizards ... Disappointing. Very disappointing.
Also, what are they realistically going to add from Kamigawa block? Jitte is banned and pretty much everything else is bunk. (Hoping for Twincast with sick new art though for sure)
I was stuck in a dilemma of whether I should buy the modern staples I need now, or if I should wait in case a MM reprint lowered their prices. This settles it for me. For every money card in this set there are some $10 junk packs, so this set can't possibly bring down prices enough for me to care. Are these sets actually intended to lower staple prices? It doesn't look like it at all.

When I hit my 3000 post mark, I'm gone for good.
Stay reasonable, be mindful of your expectations and don't feed the trolls.
$10 is a little steep, but I am definitely going to start saving now to get some of this, as I missed out on MM1. I was going to save up for a car this year, but this is definitely going to put a damper on part of that saving lol.
I love the new Etched Champion art.
Going to start some speculation as the mythic cycle will either be the Titans or the Praetors.

The reprints are to increase availability, not affordability. I understand where some would think they are the same, but they are not. Goyfs are $200 but they are available if you need them. Prior to MM that wasnt the case.
The cards that will be lowered in price are those at the rare or lower level. Anything put in this as a mythic should be pretty stable and possibly go up in price.
I didn't buy any Modern Masters product and I won't buy any Modern Masters 2 product either, the problem is that there's no way of avoiding how these product warp the costs and availability of the cards in the format save cashing out of it entirely.
Which is certainly an option, though I rather WotC start actually supporting the format.
That is what I am implying. If modern is really too expensive, people can sell out.
Very recently a local LGS had a Modern Masters draft costing $75 a person to play. They had to turn people away.
$10 a pack and $40 drafts are going to do just fine.
You say that as if these MM2 packs will be sold at MSRP at most places. That wasn't true of MM1 I doubt that will be true of MM2 unless they really bump up the print run.
seems like wizards cares more about collectors than they do players, even thought the true playerbase would make then MUCH more money overall if they just threw them a bone. Also why are they doing kamagawa again? the useless dragon cycle alrdy took 5 rare slots from the first MM, not to mention meloku who is also useless. Overall kinda sad esp since the 10 dollar per pack price is a little deceptive as the true retail price will be MUCH higher, I live in canada and when MM1 came out the standard price at my LGS was 15 per pack even thought the msrp was about 7, its going to be even worse this time. Again this seems just like a cheap cash grab and not a way to keep the format healthy and accessible for PLAYERS and not just collectors.

Too add to my original rant, if were paying 360+ dollars per box (most likely much higher in retail) and were not even getting tarmogoyfs and bobs then whats even the point of it all?

I expect it to have a minimal effect on card prices.

Mythic dragon reprint confirmed!
the first one sold like mad, and most places were asking more than $10.

I believe Azusa, Lost but Seeking is played in some modern decks. $20+ card. Also Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker.
Cards that really need a reprint.
Plenty of other cards at medium prices such as Goblin Guide.
