So are all Wastes going to be full art right off the boosters?
Looks like.
Also, is Sol Ring going to be "add <> <> to your mana pool"?
Without some silly rules hopscotch yes - it'll have to be changed to that.
Yes, is one of the question answered in Facebook, now will produce <><>, also confirm that any card who produce (x) will produce X numbers of <>, and if is reprinted will change the symbol in the card description. This change is not a only "zendikar change".
What is the obsession with Sol Ring? I see it keep coming up in these discussions at every website.
The Urza lands will be the same way, but I don't see them mentioned at nearly the same frequency.
Becuase it's a colorless mana producer that has existed literally since day one. You could replace "Sol Ring" with "Urza's Tower" or "Mind Stone" or "Kozilek's Channeler" and the question is the same, but more people remember "Sol Ring".
Ian Duke saying literally "so in order to cast Kozilek, the Great Distortion you need to spend 8 mana of... 8 generic mana, which means mana of any color or colorless mana".
I do hope they will just rule that a wastes can always produce <>, and urborg doesn't become a counter to the colorless strategy.
Asked them that at the FB.
Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth would allow them to be Basic Land - Swamp and tap for {C} or {B}.
Interesting. This would have to be a special Wastes rule, otherwise any basic land could be considered to have no type and its own type and shall be able to tap for <> as well.

Ian Duke saying literally "so in order to cast Kozilek, the Great Distortion you need to spend 8 mana of... 8 generic mana, which means mana of any color or colorless mana".
LOL
Well with this comes a slight change in terminology, which will take a little getting used to, and Ian caught himself real quick and corrected it.
82 pages of arguments and discussion just for one of the very first theories that showed up to be correct. I imagine what is going on in the internal dialogue of the minds of people here on this topic:
"Really, 82 pages... was it worth it? Was it? WAS IT?"
"Yes"
"Cool"
yes! it was so worth it, even tho I was among the losing theories' factions. I enjoyed maybe 25 pages of the 80+ lol
So, now that we got that out of the way, let me speculate on something here. What are the chances of we getting a fetch land that search for a colored basic card or a wastes named card in Oath? It has to search based on the name because Wastes have no basic type. The template would be something like:
"pay 1 life, tap: search your library for a Forest card or a card named Wastes and put it onto the battlefield. Then shuffle your library"
I feel like there is a strong incentive to print this. The reasons are:
1) Increase the incentive to run wastes cards in your deck, that so far are almost always worse than colorless lands with effects in standard, such as Ugin's Sanctum.
2) Prepare the field for when Khans rotates out. Khans fetchlands are obviously stronger than these 'wastes fetchs' would be, and they play well with battle lands. If Innistrad comes in and we lose fetchs and don't get anything new... then the battlelands will become terrible, really really bad cards. By printing these 'worse fetches' you still give the battlelands some breathing room without making it easy for you to build 4 color deck in standard.
3) Increase the incentive to play with cards that need colorless to be cast (whatever these cards may be).

According to facebook there will be 2 versions of Wastes, so they are twice as common as other commons. I suspect there will be a dust-art version and the already known bismuth-art version.

What bothers me is that you could have OGW boosters with four or five lands: the classic basic land, both wastes, some uncommon land and a manland, for example. That seems like an awful pack for limited.
Now my questions are about Eye of Ugin, i just ask this in facebook
" If i have Eye of Ugin in play, can i cast new Kozilek only for 8 generic mana ? I understand based in the new rules that the (2) from Eye of Ugin will be now <><> less to cast an Eldrazi right?"
So the errata only apply to "add (2)"->"add <><>", but no "cost less (2)"-> "cost less <><>" ?
I'd say it is more likely for them to print a basic land fetch (such as evolving wilds) but with a different downside than entering the battlefield tapped (so, lifeloss I guess). Hopefully at uncommon. Doesn't take up too many slots, would enable wastes enough for modern and would hopefully keep the price a bit low.
We'll see.
The land you suggest does not fetch battle lands, which doesn't solve the problem of 'battlelands becoming terrible cards'.

Eye of Ugin has only ever changed the generic mana cost.
For example, you can't cast Blisterpod for 0.
So Newzilek with an Eye of Ugin will cost 6CC.

The one nice thing is that with two Wastes in play, all your Tangoes enter untapped.

Correct.
Works in a similar way as Edgewalker, it reduces the Colored portion, not the generic portion. Reducing the Generic portion of a spell, won't reduce it's colored/colorless requirements.
So we have two basic lands (#183 and #184) and 10 extra commons (as reported by Sam Stoddard). There are usually 10 Mythics, 35 rares and 60 uncommons in a small set. That leaves seven cards unaccounted for ....
Maybe someone should ask them on twitter/fb why they opted to do this change mid-block and make all those cards from BFZ need errata, since thats the million dollar question of this thread
Not sure if anyone's said this yet, but I'm speculating that since Ulamog didn't leave Zendikar, his mana type didn't change since we last saw him. Emrakul and Kozilek weren't on Zendikar last block, so we can assume they phased out of the plane (or whatever Eldrazi gods do), thus morphing their mana types to include required colorless mana. I haven't read any of the uncharted realms yet, so I could be late to the party entirely.
Shocks were not terrible without fetch, were they? We just lose the "modern power level play" in standard. Besides, a big change in the mana base quality generally shakes up a format quite a bit.
Indeed. Shocks were not terrible. That is because shocks are a thousand times better than Battle Lands. I understand that without fetches people would still play the battlelands just because it is what it is (unless Innistrad shows up with better duals... not that hard). But you would be stranded with a bunch of guildgates until you find two basics to use, and at that point you would probably have to run more basics or endure the pain of being always one turn behind.
I know if they don't print it won't be the end of the world, but it seems like really poor design to let the battlelands only be useful through half of their duration in standard.

ya, it does look like if you're playing a B and <> deck, UrborgToY will be a nice card making Wastes effectively a dual
Asked them that at the FB.
