Truth be told. I haven't been so hyped for a set since Khans.
Can't wait to brew with Jhoira. And finally i found my suicide black commander in Toraag, famine incarnate. I might Replace Molimo with Multani.
Also, when do the "real" spoilers stsrt? I know that we're getting some info on the leaked cards this week, but we're still missing some legend. I think. Like a UG legend, since every other color combination has at least one legend.
I'm also mighty curious as to what the BBB creature might be. Nice cycle, that one.

Great PR Job for the leak, arguably the most professional one I've seen so far. It wasn't too long ago their PR was a complete disaster when it came to leaks (a.k.a. the Kozilek incident) and while I will probably never forget how unprofessional the response to the incident was (long story cut short it almost felt like they were insulting the playerbase/consumers in the midst of a tantrum of their hard work being washed away), its memory is also a reference point to prove the huge improvement they've come to.
As with the Kozilek incident, I'm leaving the leak itself as an issue to ignore (mainly because there's literally too many opinions even here alone) and best left to their own internal/legal teams to settle. My stand still holds: As a player, such major card reveals are exciting to me (as my first paragraph indicates, I'm the type that waits for the full spoiler to personally analyze and am largely immune to the marketing techniques the typical spoiler patterns/articles try to hype up), but I understand they, as a company, need to set up these marketing techniques for, well, less jaded people out there.
I am not saying you are wrong.. but..
Do you have any proof? Any link to confirmation, a source or a statement by Wizards?
Or is this just a guess based on your stomach feelings?
His claim was just that the PR was handled better for this leak than the Kozilek leak. It's just an opinion, doesn't really need confirmation or source.
"Let me entirely ignore that multiple copies of a legend is built-in card disadvantage."
That rule of thumb doesn't apply to Mox Amber, though. Why? Because it has a CMC of zero. You can chose to tap Mox Amber for mana, then play a second and sacrifice the tapped mox. If you have two of them in your hand you can do this twice in one turn. Or three times. So basically, because it is a free artifact you can slot a playset of them in your deck, and in effect its like having one mox amber and three lotus petals (conditional lotus petals, but still). No one ever turned their nose up at a lotus petal. Its free mana, the most powerful ability in the game. Even if its conditional on the deck being built a certain way, it will be played, even if that play is restricted in the long run to being a Commander staple.
To be frank, it feels like they intentionally put three cards in the set that are for modern / legacy play, where as in the past few sets it's just a complete crapshoot. Opt and Spell Pierce were pretty much the better cards from Ixalan that I can think of off the top of my head. Merfolk got stuff I suppose for UG fish. I can't think of anything out of Amonkhet / HOU that was intentionally powerful outside of maybe As foretold. Heck, wizard tribal CounterSpell sounds good to me.
Hollow one was in your face get to make a discard deck work
Well, Karn feels like the second coming of Gideon for vehicles decks. The ability to make tokens that can also crew vehicles is pretty wild.
As for the card format for sagas, they are not what I was expecting. I was thinking they would use the normal card frame with the rules text at the bottom.

Same here - I did expect some kind of indicator, but closer to the Level up creatures from ROE.
This looks... gimicky - not sure how I feel about it
The card's physical design is just fine. A little underwhelming for a mythic, perhaps, but that wouldn't be the first time that has happened.
How did I miss Tempest Djinn for Limited/Sealed before? All islands to get a 3/4 flyer on turn 3--that's pretty solid.
There's a whole cycle of MMM cards that are real bombs (Benalish Marshal, Tempest Djinn, Goblin Chainwhirler, Steel Leaf Champion; and we haven't seen the BBB one yet); of course being able to tailor a sealed or draft pool to be able to go that deep that early in a single color isn't trivial.
I do like when a draft environment supports either multicolor or monocolor builds. It seems most draft environments steer heavily towards multicolor builds, while Theros went a little further than I'd like towards encouraging heavier monocolor (in permanents, at least).

I like it a lot. Visually there is a flow of information on the card (top to bottom) which emulates the feeling of progression in the card's effects. "Saga" fits here, it feels right to me. It's hard for one image to depict the progression of the card within the scene being displayed, so visually the card text provides an additional feeling of progression (in my eyes).

Oh, don't get me wrong, it looks nice, clean and well structured, I'm just not convinced that sagas really needed a drastically different card layout. If something like this is done too often, the game just gets more confusing imo.
Still, I'm not yet decided on the matter, we have just seen the layout for the first time after all - things like this take some time getting used to.
First, Firesong and Sunspeaker. The FAQ notes that it's the Buy-A-Box-Promo... How does that work, exactly? Is buying a box the only way to get it? Or is it a regular part of the set as well witht he BABP being special art/foil/whatever?
Buy-a-box promo has been a thing for almost a decade (since M10). LGSes get a supply of the promos, and they're supposed to give out the promos with box purchases. Some stores only give out the promos for preorders. And obviously, you only get the promo if you buy a box while they still have promos to give. But you can always get the non-promo version of the card in the set.

The Dominaria set contains 269 cards (20 basic land, 101 common, 80 uncommon, 53 rare, and 15 mythic rare) that appear in booster packs, plus 10 cards available only in Dominaria Planeswalker Decks and 1 unique promotional card (available as part of the Dominaria in-store Buy-a-Box promotion).

I honestly don't think the card is going to be in the set proper, especially since it's called out as the buy-a-box specifically in the card notes section in the same way that the PW-deck exclusive cards are.

That would be beyond bizarre if true, since it's the same program that's been running for 9 years.

I mean, I agree that it's strange that they'd go from alternate-art foil to a completely unique card outside the regular set, but it sure sounds like that's what they're doing to me. Which is annoying, particularly for people either without easy access to an LGS or whose LGS overprices boxes.
Reading over the set more and more makes me quite excited for it. So many cards to brew with for at least a couple different formats and for slipping into EDH decks.

Yeah lots to brew with! I love the homage to old creature types with the new tribal legends....Knight tribal? Check. Saproling tribal? Check. Kavu tribal? It needs to happen! Squirrel tribal? Pretty sure it will happen!
I like that there is a legendary Specter now, but it should have been a 4 drop... So many of the Specters are 4 drops anyways. I'm wanting a Nightmare legend though, a Horror is more likely but I'd like to see "Nightmare" sneak into the creature type text box and get some new tech on the side... Pipe dreams.. lol
People find me to be the negative nancy of mtgsalvation because of what I consider to be a more 'neutral' assessment of what is going on with design, but damn, those saga cards frame look cool.
Whoever thinks they don't is entitled to their opinions. Wrong opinions, but they're entitled to it.
People think it might be too confusing in the future if you start to exploit other ways to frame the cards, but I actually wish magic did that MORE, instead of less. Sometimes you will have misses, but when it looks good it looks good.

Yes, why give us one homelands when we can have twice the homelands while being pummeled with a flying motor home named after a dead guy and piloted by a random god we have never heard of. I don't think that happened in standard but it's how I'm going to remember this particular moment in time.
Then we had "YAAAAR PIRATES" that were tasty snacks for dinosaurs.

I agree, I like that WOTC seems much more willing to play about with card frames recently and if I had my way they would do it more often. The vertical art also opens the door for some interesting compositional options for the art.
I think the design of the sagas helps makes them easier to grok; you move down the list and it stands out on the board so its harder for either player to forget its trigger. The text looks bigger and clearer than it would in a traditional text box and I have a soft spot for type lines at the bottom from full art cards.
I think the possible confusion in the longrun is outweighed by the "Wow" factor that these different frames bring.

I mean, I honestly don't mind some of the things they explored in lots of their recents sets, like shadows over innistrad, Amonketh and Ixalan. I like some of the themes, some of the cards, etc. What annoys me is that they're still focusing most of the power in creatures, and usually powerful mythic creatures... Scarab God, Hazoret, Emrakul, Ulamog. And now everything that is good and efficient has to be banned because there are no answers to it. Ban copter, ban reflector mage, ban cat-combo, etc. Where are the good SPELLS, is what I want to know. They basically forgot almost all their other card types to favor a more creature-centric card game.
And now here comes Dominaria and they keep giving me this bull*****? "Hey, wanna have lightning bolts? Great! Play some wizard creatures!" "Wanna have a four-mana wrath? Sure! I will staple that in a mythic enchantment that takes a turn to go off" "What about powerful spells with unique effects? Sure! Just have a legendary card, mostly just a creature, into play!"
For crying out loud. Give me some unconditional good removal. Something that doesn't cost 4 mana to cast at instant speed. But no, let's keep going the direction we're going and stocking the plane chock-full of big clunky legends so vorthos and timmy both get happy, and we move along with the worst standard format ever.

Yeah but we have only seen the cards that needed rulings, there are still tons of cards out there that we have no seen.
Also, Llanowar Elves is back. So that's a step in the right direction!
I agree with him, though. What the heck is wrong with this company? People have been wanting lightning bolt and counterspell back in standard for ages. They were a core part of magic during the time period that a LOT of the older player base was involved with, and the younger playerbase has been introduced to these cards by the older playerbase, so they aren't going away. I still remember when I introduced this one person to magic and they asked about why he couldn't play Counterspell in his modern budget deck. He literally said that the legality was the stupidest thing he ever heard.
Then he brought Mental misstep into the conversation and that one took some explaining.
