I tend to think of it more as recursion. I save "reanimation" for getting around mana costs.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
I tend to think of it more as recursion. I save "reanimation" for getting around mana costs.
Funny, that - "recursion" to me is graveyard-to-hand and also Phoenixes; "reanimation" when I think of it is any graveyard-to-battlefield. Guess terminology is just subjective sometimes.
Great card design! It's great to see that there will be some reanimation in Standard post-rotation (even if it's costly). Deathtouch makes it hard to block favourably, and getting back a Gifted Aetherborn or a Ravenous Chupacabra is simply good value.

So the corpse counter is just a marker without any mechanical meaning?
Yes - if it were "If that creature would leave the battlefield with a corpse counter on it" or similar, then using the likes of Thrull Parasite would allow you to put cards back into your graveyard in this way and recur them indefinitely, an unwanted interaction for sure.

Eh. Theres a few moving parts in that combo and I don't think it would really impact any competitive formats considering mostly that you have to untap and get to combat with both of those creatures and a good creature in your yard. So, for that reason I think they probably should have given it the clause you laid out to keep the card from feeling like they forgot to delete a line of text on it, like it does now.
I understand that they designed the counter as a reminder but because the rest of the game has sort of trained players to expect counters like that to do things, this card just feels chunky.

I like. Always glad to see reanimation/creature recursion pop up.

Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
Can I successfully cloudshift something she's brought back?
Yes; it's just like the unearth mechanic. You're putting it into exile instead of exile, which is where it was going anyway, so Cloudshift and the like don't even notice that the replacement effect happened.
There's any mechanical reasons, besides flavor, of why the creatures has to have a "corpse counter" on it? Isn't "is a zombie in addition to its other types" flavorful enough? Am I missing something? I tought the corpse counters were related on the exiling part but really the creature would be exiled even without the counter, the 2 things are not related.
To force a distinction between which is affected by Isareth's triggered ability and which aren't for the sake of clarity.
Lets say I have a Death Baron in the graveyard, Isareth on the battlefield with another Death Baron. When I attack with Isareth and the Death Baron, I can pay 3 to retrieve the Death Baron and put it onto the battlefield. The two barons buff each other to become 3/3s. The corpse counter on the reanimated baron helps as an indicator and reminder of what occurred and that way there is less confusion

The counter is added to the creature as a reminder that it's going to be exiled if it leaves the field. I'm not a fan of the way they did it and I think it would have gone smoother if the last line of text on this card was "If a creature with a corpse counter on it would leave the battlefield, exile it instead." But that's the only reason it's there, really
