This is a combo engine. I cannot think of exactly which combo right this second, but I’m certain that she is going to fill a niche void in some combo.
I really like her. I don’t think her + ability digs deep enough for my tastes, but that is soild removal at -2 considering it could easily be -3/-3 by then. The “ultimate” is obviously a major payoff.

As for this card, it feels like it was designed for Brawl more than anything. Will be decent until rotation with all the AKH block stuff, but there’s gotta be more zombie stuff in the future for this to have a shot in Standard.
I think MaRo already confirmed that there's no Ugin in this set.
Shame its not Ugin, would have been sweet with a flip version of him.

Anyway, this Liliana feels like more of an EDH card than anything, but she does at least have the potential to protect herself by killing a creature.
It's an EDH card for sure. But it feels like it's designed to be a commander. This card definitely feels like it was designed as a Brawl commander, which is unfortunate, because she just seems rather weak. It's like comparing a card for Standard vs. a card for Modern, where she's more of a card for Brawl than for EDH. I mean she can slot in the 99, but I dunno. It's not downright atrocious, and I'm sure once we get enough zombie pieces this will be a good card in a Standard zombie deck, but it needs to be in a zombie deck to be even functional, which isn't the case for the vast majority of planeswalkers. Like she's absolutely useless in a deck without zombies.
Hopefully past rotation, there will be a ton of good zombies to make both a Standard and Brawl deck with her as a centerpiece.
Well she enables you to cast quite a few things from the yard in standard right now. ammit eternal is particularly smexi. I just don't see that being on par with what mono green, red/x, or control is pulling off though.

Look at the planeswalker deck planeswalkers, and look at the walkers that have been spoiled in the Core set thus far. After that, tell me what the odds are that we're getting Jace over Tezzeret.
This Liliana seems OK, but I'm not sure if she'll see Standard play as it stands. Amonkhet hasn't rotated yet, so maybe? I can see something happening with the Golgari when Ravnica starts up though.
I was wondering if they were going to give us 5 core set walkers (since now the average walker count is now looking to be 14 instead of 10) I wonder if for complexity they made the core set walkers safer and more niche to not worry about the influx.

I'm thinking more along the lines of any 1 drop zombie, Phyrexian Altar, and Tendrils of Agony.
Yeah the other walkers got a Planeswalker Deck Version and a Core Set Deck Walker.

Shes already been protected byt the zombies tough. ofcourrse in some scenarios it is protection against a flyer but its pretty meciore.
The card itself is kinda bad but i still like her for Zombie tribal in EDH. I really need to get Death's Magesty aswell
