HE has been, but sometimes he needs to sit down for the good of the game, as cheesy as that sounds.
Chaos Warp sees marginal play in Legacy and Vintage, I'm guessing, so it's ok if Spike warps Johnny's/Jenny's Doubling Season and gives himr an...Avenger of Zendikar?!
Good reprint too!

Thanks for the info. Chaos Warp has been responsible for a lot of interesting games for me. Super glad it exists.
Uh, while MaRo is adamant about color pie breaks in new cards, he has shown remarkably little concern about reprinting existing breaks whenever convenient.
This may generate the most discussion, but Swords to Plowshares is likely the most-reprinted example.
Fantastic reprint. I should be putting this in most red decks.

StP is not a break. It's just too good for a spell that only costs 1 white mana. Exiling creatures is totally in white's wheelhouse; it's not even close to a break.

Can you name all of the creature types with at least 20 cards? Try my Sporcle Quiz! Last Updated: 6/29/20 (Core Set 2021).
MaRo is like one of those beer purists that runs around the bar with his shirt tucked in jawing your ear off about how your favorite beer is the worst and you should be drinking his choice of piss water. At least when it comes to the color pie. And his color pie articles are unreadably cringy. WotC makes the cards, makes the colors, they can make them do whatever they want.

They can also lay down the guidelines as to how the colors get to interact with certain aspects of the game... It's what makes the colors actually distinct. I don't get why people get so upset with MaRo for trying to have cohesive identities for the colors. He's also stated that they are more concerned with new color pie breaks; old breaks are like the ship already sailing. They can't do much about them already existing. I think he said there are discussions whenever old breaks are reprinted, but obviously they let reprints happen more often than new breaks.
Also, I'm pretty sure MaRo said that StP is a break because of how minor the "drawback" is to what amounts to an unconditional removal spell.

100% agree. I cringe every time he refers to himself as the "Keeper of the Pie." More like the Pie Nazi. I'm just happy he reports to Aaron Forsythe. I kinda doubt we'd have tri-color Elder Dragon Legends in a core set right now had he not inserted himself into the design process.

We wouldn't have Elder Dragons in a set whose story focuses on Bolas' past... Yeah. Ok. Uhuh.
One of MaRo's jobs is to keep the game healthy, and whatever you believe about his track record for the past few years, color pie issues have not been an issue.
You may like MaRo or not, but when the oldest game in a genre is still (by almost any standard) the best game in that genre, whoever is making that game is doing something right.

I want a downvote button so badly right now...
Do you seriously think every color should be able to do everything? That would just leave us with basically one gray color. The color pie is arguably the thing that makes MtG distinct and the variety of the colors makes the game so much more interesting. Therefore, it is very important that some people (not Maro alone, but the Council of Colors) watch the pie and try to prevent breaks.
Not sure that's what I said, but no. I don't think they should throw restrictions out and make it a free for all. I just think MaRo is a little overzealous about it. Bends are fine every now and then. Chaos warp isn't a bend.

Honestly, I'd be in favor of the colors being mere cosmetics. For example, green could counterspell...creatures, artifacts or enchantments. Black could destroy artifacts or enchantments if it sacrificed creatures or your life total. The more flexibility we have with the colors, the more we can build our decks to taste instead of having to splash X for Y because it's the best out for any situation. A lot of the stuff is really arbitrary. Red gets a lot of haste because it's impulsive. Okay. Then white should get haste because it prepares ahead of time and can surprise opponents, etc. Instead, what happens is that blue has an overwhelming advantage in older formats, red needs to be super pushed to be constant, green is green, etc.

When you aren't overzealous about maintaining the color pie, you get cards like Chaos Warp.
What's wrong with chaos warp? It's undeniably red. You get rid of what's bothering you now for something that may be worse. Its, wait for it, almost, here it is, CHAOTIC. Impulsive, uncalculated, full of feeling. Sounds like you don't like losing to bad luck.

It sounds like you don't understand how core sets work. Multi-colored cards and Legendary creatures are generally not something you're going to find in core sets. In fact, there have been exactly 3 multi colored cards printed in core sets dating back to 1993 (Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker, Garruk, Apex Predator, Sliver Hivelord).

Sounds like it's a card that undermines one of Red's weaknesses, its inability to handle enchantments. Did I mention anything about losing to this card? It does something red should not be able to do, that's my (and all of the people who care about the color pie) beef with it. Not power level, not price, not gameplay concerns.

The card that says we dont know how to give red better removal in this format, and we dont know what else to reprint.
Meanwhile the community has largely stopped using it because they flipped into things like con sphinx or vorinclex just one too many times.
