I mean Lili is especially dense when it comes to demon/dragon pacts.
Its been a frequent question for Brandon Sanderson, about Davriel and what he would think about Liliana and her contracts. When you read the book you start to understand why the question is asked quiet a bit.
Will be entertaining to see what set of abilities they give him with WAR.

Who knows, Davriel might make a good pair with Tibalt.
Noticeably, Aminatou and Estrid are also missing and they are relatively new. While several others on the 36 are just as green as them, Aminatou's power level is considerably higher.
she's one of the best characters introduced in ages, so yeah, of course she's not in this (which is nice, cause this is a boring ass storyline)
I'm not a hundred percent sure but I think that the Commander product production time is a lot quicker than the sets (which I believe is two years out) so the file for War could have been completed before last summers commander product.

Embrace the dark you call a home,
Gaze upon an empty, white throne
A legacy of lies,
A familiar disguise
Sing with me a song of conquest and fate
The black pillar cracks beneath its weight
Night breaks through the day, hard as a stone
Lost in thoughts all alone
I'm INCREDIBLY EXCITED for more Ashiok, Angrath, Ob Nixilis, and Kaya. I love me some dark walkers.
Do we know who is below Ugin? Reminds me of an Aetherborn. Is Gonti a walker?
Maybe the dark aura means it's Chain-Veil-corrupted Garruk. He had a helmet,I suppose.
Davriel "Greystone" Cain. He is from the novel "Children of the Nameless" by Brandon Sanderson. He is human, he makes deals with devils, he is primarily black with a splash of blue and red magic. However his outlook on the world is very Esper.
Deals with devils? Is he Liliana's soul mate or something?
Won't spoil too much, just he be smarter than her when maken deals.

Davriel is also anti necromancy so he probably bash Liliana. Lili is dumb though there is no question.
Oh yeah. From reading the novella and what Sanderson has said about the character, Davrial's much less Liliana's "soulmate" and far more her foil. I think that he'd look at just about everything she's done and all her reasoning behind it with utter disdain.
Noticeably, Aminatou and Estrid are also missing and they are relatively new. While several others on the 36 are just as green as them, Aminatou's power level is considerably higher.
Same for Daretti and Dack, right? Kaya made it from globally available supplemental product to WAR by virtue of being pre-planned to feature in Ravnica and making a previous appearance in Standard. Otherwise I think those planeswalkers are just not judged to have the same recognition power.
And who can blame them missing a spot when Garruk and Tezzeret get to sind on the bench? Those two are from the first and second wave respectively.

I think the Commander precons are also not necessarily depicting the present time and we don't really know when Aminatou and Estrid lived unless they tell us through additional story.
Eh... 36 walkers and all of them either suck or the standard environment will become Superfriends Vs Planeswalkers killer... What is more miserable? Have to endure seeing your favorite characters depicted in miserable cards or be miserable in a slew of mirror matches and bad matchups?
Sarkhan... That crafty guy journeyed to the Forgotten Realms and stole 2 of Todd Lockwood's Red Dragons while they were just younglings.

Glad other people noticed the red dragons
Also feels good to have bought 100 Oath of Teferi for under $1
The 2 ladies (Jaina proudmoore and the winged sword are new) there is a masked one that was introduced recentry in one of the novels and another one that has a thread created (a shield mage) also one of the Chinese walkers.
I believe the wing-blade lady is Mu Yanling. Lore wise she's a kind of heron deity.
There is anything more on the two GS walkers than their bios? Because I have no idea where you are getting this info from.

I'm also not sure if Aminatou would make for a good storyline character. Her design is cool, but her powers are basically universe-breaking and the only reason given for why she doesn't abuse them is "because she's a child". I think she works best as an obscure side character. Pulling her and her powers into the central story results in too many problems.
There is anything more on the two GS walkers than their bios? Because I have no idea where you are getting this info from.
What I recalled was that the boy Yanggu thought her a deity in the story, but after searching again I couldn't find the info, and even if that's the case she wasn't a true deity either (despite being a PW is like being a god). I likely remembered it wrong.
I wonder if some of the planeswalkers from responsible for the Mending will make an appearance? Kind of makes sense since they could be viewed as Bolas’s ultimate foes since they were responsible for planeswalkers like Bolas loosing much of their godlike power.
Personally I really want to see Jeska reappear. Even though in the story of the mending she sacrificed herself to close a time rift, I could see that being changed to her simply getting sucked into the time rift to another time right as she closed it. After all, it can’t just be that Jeska and the Jeskai monks never met and the name Jeskai is so similar to Jeska out of random chance (this is the main reason why I think she’s not dead, just hiding in the background somewhere like Jaya Ballard).
i for one am pretty stoked. i was wondering if Ugin was going to appear, and glad that he is included as its only fitting for the twins to face off a last time in the culmination of the story arc.

Fun fact: Dovan Baan has only 5 fingers on each hand on these stained glass pictures.
A nice contrast for the people saying #4 can’t be Elspeth because her hair isn’t the right shade of brown.
Yeah forgetting the extra finger that is present only on Kaladesh' vedalken is totally like forgetting the hair color of you character.
It doesn't even matter that "Elspeth" has completely changed clothes, weapon and fighting/magic style too.
Really people expecting Elspeth will be very disappointed.

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
Also with Elspeth it seems, how to put this, bad if she were out of Erebos's clutches already.
Because on one hand its fine that Sorin escaped from his rock prison because he was only partially trapped in it and any number of things could of happened to free him, like a random angel attacking him and breaking the rock on accident instead, or that after enough struggling and vampire strength from pain and near-madness he just broke it. That its not likely in the next five years we would have returned to Innistrad.
But Elspeth escaping from Erebos is a more important story element for if they were to return to Theros. That there is the possibility of them using the original myth of Persephone and Hades, with Elspeth and Erebos filling those roles respectively, and that Elspeth might be able to return to the land of the living for a temporary time.
Also that girl in the stained-glass has more of a reddish/blondish hair than Elspeth who has dark brown or black hair. Also I would expect to see at least a gold mask somewhere on her person if they wanted her to look human and relatable enough while dodging a bullet with the Theros Underworld System for appearance sake.

Probably the other planeswalker aren't technically part of the block but rather release like treasure and expedition.
So they are probably just reprints instead.
