It would be really interesting if they instead did it for the original five Gatewatch as a juxtaposition of the “[blanks]’s Defeat” cycle from Hour of Devastation

That is definitely possible since we also have a card called Liliana's Triumph which gets better if you control a Liliana PW.

That expression... Is the same you can see on serial killers / supervillains in movies...
Doesn't really fit Gideon, unless he is being corrupted by the blackblade.
Either a cycle or a mirrored pair. Both would be nice.
It seems like a missed opportunity for some cross-set flavor if they didn’t make them for Chandra, Jace and Nissa too. But yeah, I guess a mirrored pair would be fun
The flavour text seems to imply he dies saving someone, most likely Liliana I guess.
Doesn't seem to imply that he dies at all, just that he saved people, and considers that a victory. It's actually harkening back to when he originally sparked, when he ended up causing his friends' deaths (by challenging Erebos), instead of saving them.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a full cycle of these to mirror the "defeat" cycle in Hour of Devastation.

He really does look creepy, like he boned them all to death.
Pretty sure that this will be a cycle to mirror the Defeat cycle from Hour of Devastation.
Jace's Triumph could easily be turning Vraska.
Not sure about Chandra or Nissa. Well, Nissa could turn the Gods, perhaps.
Chandra’s Triumph could be her defeating Dovin? And Nissa’s doesn’t have to be anything specific. It’s not like Gideon had an emotional attachment to this eternal, and we don’t even know the normal art of Liliana’s yet.
It looks like none of the Gatewatch die. Super lame and super safe by Wizards.
When will they let go of their pets? I am guessing Nicol Bolas doesn't die either, so...when are we going to see resolution here?

I’m pretty sure Gideon and Liliana, maybe Nissa too, will die. All of their story arcs are wrapped up in a neat little bow (sans Raven Man, which could very well be concluded during this set), and just because a card depicts Gideon not dying to a bunch of rando Eternals doesn’t mean he won’t die.

They need Gideon for Theros Deuteros. Not a matter of if but when.
Anyway, that art and flavor text...really don't go together. Is white getting all the Liefeldian art this time around?
*looks at artist credit* And this one isn't drawn by Steve Argyle either.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
