Boo on that "up to 5" clause. I want my Chorus of the Conclave to make an 100/100 Double Striker goddamnit.
Is that really why it has that clause? It seems strange and unnecessary to me. Those types of effects (like Chorus of the Conclave) are very rare, aren't they?
EDIT: Okay, so having one other changeling in play does make this cost -1000 less, so I guess it's just a precaution.
Well i wonder if it is possible that a changeling-slivers deck could come out of it in modern... we probably could stop at abzan or abzan + R maybe.
A 3/3 double strike with the potential of other abilities for 2 manas and that can’t be pushed, if you have a +1+1 sliver it becomes single bolt proof too.
If we have like 2 changelings at 1 mana I guess it could be marginally playable.
Awesome. More Slivers. I love how they’ve attempted to bring something new each time to every Sliver spoiled so far. But then again this is for Modern. If this were a Standard legal set they’ve be rehashing old designs with retweaked power/toughness and casting cost.
Valiant Changeling seems like it could be good. It benefits from literally any Lord, and is easy enough to make cost just WW (And doing so involves using other creatures that benefit from your lords). T1 Changeling Outcast, t2 this guy, t3 literally any lord, swing for big damage?
I mean, if they printed 3/3 Double Strike for CMC2 on a Merfolk, I'm pretty sure Merfolk would be running that, right?

I don't think another set but ones like this and time spiral can really play around with the sliver design the best since they can give a lot of the slivers one off mechanics (outlast, hellbent, unearth, cascade) that normally they would need to expand in a typical sets.

It is also the fact that you have to have pretty arcane rules knowledge. I mean without looking it up. How many creature types currently exist in magic?

Even making mutavault into a creature for one turn and casting this changeling could be reassonable (3/3 ds for 3). Oh boy, can’t wait for the rest of the set lol
Well I love the changelings and having them back is a huge win for those who like tribal decks, and an increase in them helps many formats where some more obscure tribes have just a few to little pieces to make them work.
However, my gripe is the slivers: sure, the 'art' design is back to normal, but Wizards has failed to correct the thing that made a lot of people truly unhappy with the last set of slivers, the design change from ''all'' to ''you control''. And while they argued it was easy to distinguish because they're two different types of slivers as shown by the latter's anthropomorphic design, these slivers have the textbox design of the latter with the art design of the former.
Lots of cool choices for slivers in this set, but I'll be using non of them because they're not the slivers I know and love, they're just the modern, unliked ones with art from the old type stuck over the top, meaning they'll play just like 'tribe #473', with all the same problems and loss of uniqueness that the modern slivers have.
End rant, more changelings please, and more low cost angels. Honestly, outside of the botched slivers, this set is pretty good for most people. Like that knight gets totally broken if you've a changeling in play, which I find totally hilarious.

Turn 2: Plains, valiant changeling.
Don’t thing that any of these have real constructed applications but a turn two 3/3 doublestrike is pretty sweet

Actually, officially -242, so with Chorus, you can get a 240/240 creature for WW. (5WW + 237 - 242 = WW), (3/3 base with 237 +1/+1 counters).
(As of Modern Horizon's printing. This number would go up in time.)

Turn three neoform into an 8-drop. Griselbrand ho. Or eldritch evolution into a 9 drop. Hello, Iona.
Turn 3: Play a land. King of the Pride. Swing for 13 damage.
