Blight Beetle
1B
Creature - Insect
Protection from green (This creature can't be blocked, targeted, dealt damage, enchanted, or equipped by anything green.)
Creatures your opponents control can't have +1/+1 counters on them.
Leaf and soul alike wither at its touch.

Explore is still in Standard until Fall set.
I am much more surprised they brought Protection back. From the first glance I was sure it has hexproof from Green.
... Protection? In a new core set? After they said that "protection is too difficult for players to get right" (in other words, saying that players are dumb) and that they were shelving it indefinitely?
Well this is a Hardeness Scales/walking balista hoser lol
For standard
Also this stops Amass, pridemates, mentor, proliferate of +1+1 counters, part of riot, and adapt (and new mechanics with +1/+1 counters). It does nothing to Nissa, who shakes the world and also don't negates the draw and life gain effect of HKrasis.
It will be interesting to see if and how it sees play.
I'm guess development is a little afraid of proliferate (or an upcoming +1/+1 counter mechanic and wanted a nerfer.

“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
How this interact with modulate or effects like "enters the Battlefield with x +1/+1 counters on It" like ballista?
Modulate will ask you were to put the counters but when the counters would be passed to another creature you put 0 counters instead. The card will enter with 0 counters, ballista and Hidroid Krasis enters with no counters and probably will die as a stated based actions 0 toughtness.

THAT is unexpected.
You know, I wonder if Arena, holding players hands, is enabling these power/complexity boosts.
Or it could be that Sam is no longer involved with Design/Dev.
This isn't what i expected from the name, i expected some golgari beetle that spread tokens/counters or destroyed creatures using tokens/counters
Still a cool hate card

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
[Quote]Yes, but it doesn't say opponent can't PUT counters on creatures, it says creatures can't HAVE counters on them at all.
This completely hoses Nissa. It makes her kill your lands.
Wrong. If you read the card itself instead of the transcript it says "Creatures opponents control can't have +1/+1 counters PUT on them".
It uses the same wording as Melira, Sylvok Outcast which in her rulings says she doesn't remove counters already on creatures.
Nissa puts the +1/+1 counters on the lands, before turning them into creatures, so it dodges the restriction.

To be fair, protection is really hard for players to get. It comes up often enough in EDH and I'm constantly explaining the nuances to people.
I'm really surprised (baffled, even) that they would be putting protection back in a core set, on a non rare. Man this card hoses lots of EDH strategies.

She first puts the counters then the land becomes a creature Nissa, Who Shakes the World
