The Iona ban is absolutely ridiculous. She's so innocuous I was laughing when I read the announcement. I still think Paradox Engine is fine and shouldn't be banned, but at least that card *was* legit broken if you're that kind of player. Banning Iona is just a sign to me that the rules committee has completely lost touch.
One vote of no confidence from me. I think Wizards should take the reins and come up with a ban list that makes at least a *little* bit of sense.
you're sociopaths and I'm glad that I never have to sit down and be locked out of the game for 2 hours while I watch you play tbh
You actually don't have to sit there for 2 hours. There is rule 104.3a:
A player can concede the game at any time. A player who concedes leaves the game immediately. That player loses the game.
I think most of the confusion for Paradox Engine's banning is why now and not 20 months ago?
The RC/CAD is between a rock and a hard place.
Ban it early on and be criticized for not giving it a chance.
Give it a chance and be criticized for not banning it early on.
They chose the latter, which I tend to agree with.

And if the other players at table don't do the same you have to wait until everyone is finished for the next game

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.

if it took this long to realize it was a problem what game are they even playing?
there's giving things a chance, and then there's not doing anything. the card's been out so long its rotated out of standard... that should have been plenty of time to say hey wait a minute, even in decks that use it "fairly" its degenerate.

Isn't that the same problem when losing to aggro, voltron, poison or when being focused?

When, exactly, is the perfect time to ban a card in Commander?
A time that isn’t too early or too late?
There have been many cards over the years that were predicted to be ZOMGSO broken in Commander (and other formats) that turned out to be fine or even duds.
Perhaps the RC/CAD thought/hoped Paradox Engine would be one of them.
Assume the best about people. It’ll brighten your outlook and theirs.

It shouldn't take two hours if these cards are played properly.

Nah, it's way faster

Glad to see Engine go, Iona was very meh.
Painter's Servant is super obnoxious. My friend who ran Engine decks is going to jam Servant instead, with Wash Out, Llawan, etc.
We'll deal, since it's a creature, but man.
