i'm not sure how i feel about it honestly. there's a part of me that worries it'll get too big and then collapse. like a lot of other games have done when resources have been suddenly dumped into them.

Well, the Creative team was already quite tapped out, so increasing that in size and get more people into Play Design should make a lot of people happy.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.

Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
On one hand it will result in people catching more bad interactions among card synergies. On the other hand, this could result in too many cooks. Only time will tell how the team doubling in size will actually affect the game.

Yeah, I agree. We could see an improvement (read:consistency) in game design or they’re setting themselves up for a massive screwup on epic proportions.
But the reality I fear is we’ll see Hasbro push harder for more “elitist” products. More $10 packs. More severely limited exclusives. Doubling the team won’t go towards what we have now. Those resources will go towards the higher end products for the whales.
Which is fine I guess. We’re already seen playable cards that don’t have a version in regular packs so how much longer before they put the next Nexus only in a $10 whale pack?

Those premium products don’t require a larger staff to produce since they’re mostly reprints put in new packaging. We’re likely looking at the beginning of a more constant bombardment of MTG products. More supplemental products to support more formats, more tie-in products to appeal to broader audiences(like collectibles and toys), and more “synergy” between paper and Arena. The new Brawl decks, the sudden support for Pauper and current MTG devs talking about Oathbreaker is what makes me think more supplemental products are coming.
They already put flusterstorm in Modern Horizons...but yeah you’re right, maybe next time it will be something like Wrenn and Six as the buy a box promo

I think you nailed it there. I wouldn't be surprised if they put an additional Standard set in rotation, maybe at the same time or near a Core set. HASBRO is going to pour gasoline on the fire to accelerate whatever Creative R+D has in the pipeline (for better or for worse). I think it's safe to assume more premium product releases for Modern, Pauper precons or set?, and more Spellbook type products.
It would be entirely silly to accelerate Standard even more. After their recent experiences with changing rotation during the switch to 2-set blocks etc. they also should be aware that Standard rotation cannot handle too much alteration - and they know that they cannot indefinitely increase the size of the card pool. But they sure can create more product lines. Brawl decks are already small Commander bonus releases and we get an experimental booster product + Commander annually. They could go deeper into the supplemental sets.
I see them creating a brand new competitive parallel format before messing to the degree of an additional set to Standard.
