A bad BOP? Unless there is good support for food tokens, I just don’t see it. I suppose there is interesting synergy with Oko, but is that enough? BTW, “Sacrifice a food”?

It is strange but is kinda the same as "sac a tresure" on the ixalan cards. (also there are more artifacts on the set that are food)(that was on me cause i saw the other spoiler as i was finishing the goose)
Did... did Wizards of the Coast just consciously give Eggs strategy players... an actual egg?
That said, it's nice to know what a Food Token does. The cards themselves seem fine. Golden Goose is a much worse Birds of Paradise, but depending on how Food Tokens pan out, it will be functional for the Format since Llanowar Elves is rotating.

Nice new version of Bird of Paradise. Thought I find it funny they didn't nerf the flying (the issue with birds) but did the color making (what made birds green).

“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
Food tokens are horrendous without synergies. Was it really too much to ask to make the activation cost 1 instead of 2? Hell, even 1, T: You gain 2 life is infinitely better than this.
I have a feeling this is the se where the power level goes way down. The power level has been rather high as of late, and I have a feeling Wizards is very concerned about power creep and perhaps is using ELD to calm things down a bit.
"According to legends, there's a golden goose at the top of this here Mountain. I want to be the first person to the top, so I can grab it! I just bought some insta-sprout-ultra-super-grow seeds from a bear with a bag of gems. He said they were Magic, but I can't make them do anything. You can have a couple, if you like."
"....pant pant...I found this Egg on the way up here...I think it was laid by a golden goose! We'll have to keep going, we're almost to the top!"
"At last! I've found the legendary golden goose! You can have another one of its Eggs as a souvenir!"

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
the main thing here to me is that the extra ability for food requires saccing it also, so food still only gives a small net boost regardless of which choice made.
however, if food actually gets more support, which seems possible if in rare, then the egg creation ability might actually see more play than the mana one.
Golden Egg is a food but it isn't an egg... Atla Palani is sad

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.

I guess the closest comparison would be between a fertilized egg and what you would buy at the supermarket.
I mean, the rules also make a distinction between the card types to which subtypes are attached, Egg being for creatures and Food being for artifacts, but the flavor might be easier to swallow.
Kind of wish the Goose just allowed food to sac for mana when it was out, but it's hard to tell if that would be too OP.
Since food is not limited to tokens, someone would probably come up with some recursive degeneracy.
Until we see more of the cards it's hard to tell if it would be too good or not. Spending 4 mana to gain 3 is fine enough, but take two turns to make 1 mana isn't all that great.

Yeah, anything that's a creature type can't be a subtype for noncreatures unless they're also Tribal ... and that ain't happening.
So already in this set we have an Egg that isn't an Egg, and now that they've made Noble a creature type, we may also have existing Nobles that aren't Nobles. Unless they have another mass subtype errata planned.

I'm sure someone is going to break Gilded Goose in EDH but I'm not that person.
Art is life itself.

Whatever, play with the PW dude who also produces Foods.
The namesake cards for using "Egg" to describe low CMC artifacts that replace themselves were eggs. A cycle from Odyssey, to be specific.
I wouldn't have expected it, but I wish they had gone with "Eat some food", because that would make Yule Ooze more hilarious.

"Do you have any Food?"
"How many Food do you have?"

I'm excited for this, lol.

The flavour of this set is phenomenal. I hope it translates into just as good gameplay.
