I mean yeah. I would hope they’d do this with any creature type they introduce. I understand the whole “well now I have a bunch of cards that don’t read what they actually are.” But I think that’s a small price to pay.
Still salty about noble, I made an entire custom block around nobles and posted it years ago.
Well to be fair this something they have been talking about doing for at least 7-8 years ago. Doug has a old tumblr post from 2013 saying they had been talking on adding Nobles for a while.

My biggest thing with the errata updates is that they should actively seek to reprint old cards that are used often or at least see some play that received the new errata. People always love reprints, and this cycle in the "fixed" versions.
Well one of the disadvantages of older formats like commander is this cause they prob will not just add warlock but also remove Wizard from the type line. I m ok with small changes but with this one specially i m worried:
-Inalla will lose some wizards, hope none of the good ones get errated.
-Onslaught block had some black clerics and wizards(3) that i hope don't becomes Warlocks mostly because of the block tribal theme (and because it would make historical drafts worse)
Why am I buying physical cards if hundreds, if not thousands are going to be inaccurate? Every burn spell, tons of creatures.
If WotC wants to invalidate thousands of cards they sold to us because "lol flavor" then they should be buying back old copies and replacing them with newly printed, accurate versions.

This is an incredibly dumb line of thinking, we're so deeply entwined with technology at this point that familiarizing ourselves with Oracle text isn't that hard
The cards aren't invalidated just because the printed wording isn't up to date, and Wizards isn't going to waste their time or money printing "updated" versions with each errata just because a very tiny minority of people find it mildly inconvenient
I'd rather they make periodic improvements to the game and retrofit preexisting cards into those changes than let it stagnate in those areas, and I would want them to put their resources into anything other than pointless reprints of cards with updated Oracle text
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.

Errata is something they need to be careful with since it is a fact that some people are bothered by it and this cannot be so easily dismissed. If they actually did have to reimburse people with updated cards they would probably only issue errata when absolutely necessary, which ought to be the standard. Although I'm not sure such a program is ultimately practical.
I think "noble" is a pretty egregious example of errata since a previous errata got rid of the "lord" subtype and now we're getting a rebranded version. They could have just kept "lord" honestly which makes the change to printed cards feel especially frivolous.
Errata is commonfare in card games, pretty much everyone is used to it.
But yeah the whole Warlock type felt totally unnecessary... I guess its ok for as long as they keep mixing up types like black shamans and wizards.
I hated when they started to make every red mage a shaman even when there was nothing shamanistic about the creature.
I like warlocks. But I agree that sometimes they create overly broad tribes that end up sucking all the flavor out of something that could be its own type (e.g., rakshasa are cat demons, much like angels are bird humans? Please, less of this WotC). And all the shaman everything not just in red but taking up a lot of space in black and green was totally an eye sore. I'd also like them to take an ax to the zombie type and delineate varieties of undead better, with some tribes getting highlights based on setting. All the Theros zombies could have been shades, for example, which are much cooler.
As far as I understand its;
Cleric- Spellcaster who uses faith or healing magic
Wizard- Learned spellcaster/ traditional magic user
Shaman- Does magic by using feeling and instinct
Druid- Using magic by connecting to nature
and Warlock is unclear but seems to be dark magic and possibly use the DnD idea of having a "patron". We don't quite know what the Warlock types is suppose to detail.
And while they normally stick to color wee seen these classes moved in other colors for flavor, such as Amonkhet and Theros getting different colored cleric or the Tarkir and Kylem tend to have warriors while Eldraine and Dominaria have knights.

I don't think we should have to use a smartphone to look up creature types when we play EDH. Errata-ing hundreds of cards at a time shouldn't be done lightly just because you think this wizard looks more like a warlock than a wizard. What's even the difference? In Magic there has been none. This doesn't seem like a "periodic improvement." It seems like an arbitrary distinction made for flavor purposes that causes a lot of hassle for people playing with or against tribal decks in EDH.
And obviously WotC won't replace the cards they invalidated but I think if they were held to that standard they wouldn't be making decisions like this willy-nilly because Maro or some flavor director decided they want some new cards to be cool and different.
Some cards need oracle text to function. However, these arbitrary changes didn't need to happen. Magic is already a very memory-intensive game and we shouldn't have to memorize thousands of changes repeatedly because "lol flavor"

I think we should have a list of old creatures that don't get updated. That way they don't need to reprint them and we can keep our old favorites away from the prying hands of new players. Let's call it the uhhh...I know! The "Preserved" List.
Honestly this will be bull*****. It will either be too much errata or not enough errata. Simple example: will the new mh Urza become a noble and Yawgmoth become a warlock?
If so, they are errataing cards that aren't even 6 months old. If they don't, it doesn't make sense

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
Mostly so players don't play older cards that say something like falkenrath noble and then get mad because it isn't a noble even though it says noble right there.

Urza won't become a noble because Urza was never a noble. Same issue for Yawgmoth, Warlock doesn't fit him. Yawgmoth was never an "evil magic-user".
