Loving the Serpent of Yawning Depths! Going straight into my Arixmethes sea monsters deck. That is some much needed evasion for that group of creatures.

HEY. I’m supposed to say that.
Actually I’d prefer it to confer hexproof to them, since many sea monsters have evasion already. Still, I love this thematic effect. I see they didn’t batch them, though.
At first I thought Grasping Giant said "blocks", then I read it again. Seems decent with Lure effects but otherwise pretty meh.
Serpent of Yawning Depths seems pretty good, even by itself it's pretty much a 6/6 unblockable dude for 6, and the added love for your other sea monsters is also very welcome. Probably the second best in the batch.
I think Underworld Sentinel is pretty damn fantastic and the best card here. It's pretty slow, sure, but at the end of the day it's still potential mass reanimation and, most importantly, it doesn't exiles itself. That means a second copy can target the first one, creating an easy loop. Couple it with the excellent sac outletswe already have in Standard to ensure it dies and, hell, throw in the other reanimation spellspeople are already running, both of which also work damn well with the Sentinel, and I think it might actually be good enough to make a deck around. And yeah, also seems pretty deece in EDH to boot.
Deathbellow War Cry is super cute. Super expensive but if you're playing either one of the two mono iterationsof Neheb in EDH it seems doable. Biggest problem seems to be what to fetch, if you're playing Neheb tribal Kragma Warcaller is a given, while Fanatic of Mogis is always great in mono but other than that there aren't any big haymaker Minotaurs right now that justify the 8 CMC. Honestly the biggest value in this card is just knowing that apparently Red is back with its Dragonstorm effects.
I love all these cards though, even those I don’t intend to use myself. The hydra is tempting me to build Gargos Hydra tribal. Terror of Mount Velus looks amazing and that underworld sentinel has a very flavorful and strong effect. The card that made me laugh though is Deathbellow War Cry. Amazing effect.
All of a sudden? Minotaurs
Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)

grasping giant rule question does it grab the creatures before the damage because if it does I should point out it doesn’t say “one or more” so force everybody to block it that’s a board disappearance
victory's envoy splendid great upkeep trigger for edh players
demon of the loathing Not bad of a combat damage trigger there’s ben better version of this though (for a sec there I thought it was the first ever female demon)
underwrld sentinel yep clearly amazing for edh artisocrsts but reminder though it’s a die trigger so whatever you do do not let it get hit by path to exile/swords of plowshares cards while it has creatures in it
deathbellow war cry lets see.. will we get a better Minotaur legend than Neheb pre-externalization (that’s the best Minotaur legend)
ironscale hydra wow that thing is nasty with trample since its immune to combat damage and it grows per blocker
treeshaker chimera splendid a force all creatures to block it thing and draws on death and takes down a lot of creatures only con is Breaker of Armies has a bigger body and power but however the chimera has a death trigger
They all cards I would gladly use in edh depending on my decks
Deathbellow War Cry could be interesting way to deal a crap ton of damage with Fanatic Of Mogis, provided that they print some minotaurs in the future that have triple or quadruple red in their costs.

Both Nehebs, Fanatic and Boros Reckoner sounds like a good selection.what it really needs to spice it up is a minotaur furnace of rath
@Ryperior74: For Grasping Giant, it triggers for each time a creature would be assigned to block it, but before damage is dealt. So if you attached a Lure or Noble Quarry to it, you would force all your opponent's creatures to block it if they can, then the Giant 'grabs' each of them, exiling them until it leaves play.
Huh... 18 posts and nobody is complaining over the decision to have exclusive theme booster cards.
I mean, theme boosters are the perfect places to put the high-CMC brawl plants a la thorn mammoth / workshop elders in the absence of actual brawl decks. I'm glad that cards like this can exit without taking rare up rare slots in the main set. The power level for these cards seem to be spot-on for for this function and I'm happy with them.
With that said, it only takes one Nexus of Fate-esque "miscalculation" to pump the value of a standard-viable card to $50+ and sour this idea... and the idea of making mythics in this way (effectively creating a "super-mythic" status with supplies between normal mythics and inventions) puts a sour taste in my mouth... not that either of those things are guaranteed to come soon.
As far as the cards themselves, I personally want quite a few of them as they are generically fun and decently designed.
So, yeah. Pretty happy so far. Just surprised that no harbingers of doom have descended upon the thread yet.
These are genuinely a good idea actually. I welcome having additional thematic cards for Theros that can be designed with more casual/commander metrics in mind outside any constraints of the main draftable set. These are desirable fun cards. Probably the only good news from the past few days considering no lore for Theros.
I can’t wait to get the serpent. Come on and add it, TappedOut I wonder if these will get the promo treatment in the Collectors Packs. The constellation art shows a serpent among Callaphe and Thassa. Could it be this? Will have to wait and see
So also regarding the Sphinx Mindbreaker, just pair it with the Deadeye Navigator. Maybe a Heartstone or Training Grounds to reduce the activation cost from 1U to just U. As in a game commander/edh, each player theoretically starts with their commander in their command zone and seven cards in their hand. Each player, including the first to go, draws a card. Assuming seven turns passing at a relatively slow speed game, each player's deck would have about 85 cards. 8 activations would cost 8UUUUUUUU or UUUUUUU with heart/training, AKA as 16 or 8 mana. Which by turn 8, the following turn after soulbond, you could mill forty or eighty cards from each opponents deck, AKA as milling a total of one-hundred & twenty OR two-hundred & forty from your opponent's decks.
(White pops up in Minotaurs due to boros guild and potentially here on theros)
...yeah? Sure. Not really sure how that was relevant. We know that Minotaurs are RB on Theros so yeah the likelihood is that we get RB. White would only be for Reckoner. Which isn’t really a good reason to add white on a plane where that wouldn’t make sense.

he´s crazy value..... if he attack only once he has stupid good chances of becoming a 2 for 1.
if he attacks more than once, he´ll do a big blowout.
depending on how the meta shapes up, I think this thing has potential.

I'm surprised by how combat-oriented these cards are, yet not powerful/cheap enough to make combat great again in EDH.
