I see they chose to reveal this set's bulk red mythic at the beginning of spoiler season. Better to get it out the way early I spose
no offense man but have u ever heard of our lord and savior dredge?
Yea but that’s outside standard though
And it should see more play outside standard but even with that all that work for one stinky counter added to it rather than say like 5 and in edh we try to reuse stuff in graveyards there’s only 2 stuff ever printed that can get stuff out of exile

Well Squee, the Immortal and Eternal Scourge seem just fine. I play them both in a deck in Pioneer already, exiling them to cast Specter's Shriek. Also, I'm not sure you're looking at it right. Sure, a 5/3 doesn't seem great, especially compared to something like Scrapheap Scrounger, but I'm looking at it more as a RRAncestral Recall late in the game that I can cast from my yard when I'm empty-handed, anyways, that just so happens to summon a 5/3 (That can block if need be). In dredgeless dredge this should be test-worthy, for sure, and I think it will do well.
Why do they make bad mythic rares? Like for real?? I heard the argument that they purposefully make bad cards, but why mythic rares??? Why not make them lower rarity and only have the really strong stuff be mythic?. Ridiculous. It sucks openning a booster thinking "wow I got a mythic rare.... nice..... it's so good...."
really bad mythic, fits into feldon edh pretty well, but really bad mythic wtf. it should've had haste, or some other effect, or trample, or been bigger, or done something more for 5 mana.
and thus has been revealed the mythic that i will open more than any other mythic in the entire set.
This card is extremely good and will be played in tournaments. The only real question is if there's enough of a shell to run this in monored or if it's going to just be a U/R staple.
They don't want red able to refuel easily which this Ox does that with a empty hand, twice.

because 5 mana 4/2s with semi relevant abilities and zero evasion always tear up standard... or not

It refuels your hand in a red deck pretty damn good.
You play this with barely any other card in hand, and get a fresh 3 cards which you will be easily able to play to continue the beatings (or burn).
Then if its dead, you get it back for almost no manacost, and another 3 fresh cards.
Thats all pretty strong, as it will just by itself and coming back 1 time, provide 3+3 new cards , which should be enough to win at the late stages of a game by burn spells alone, which conveniently enough fuel its escape cost to go again till they are dead.
----
It really shines in a deck full of cheap creatures and burn spells, would be absolutely amazing in a phoenix shell, and even better with Jump-start spells and the like.
Its even a card to consider for dredge decks, as getting this card back for cheap and then dredging the card draw can easily be an instant-kill (as it works well enough with Vengevine and friends).
----
Anyway, scoop it up for cheap, and see if it finds a deck to shine.
This kind of card is either horrific broken if it works or gets outclassed by other cards (as the 4-5-mana slot is super crowded in standard especially in red/green decks).
If only we had some way to know if a card reanimating itself for 2 CMC with a hefty delve cost were playable... I forget, it's hard to fill the graveyard, right?
Sure, this isn't an 8/8 trampler, but it gives you a draw 3. Doesn't that just seem like a treasure cruise that you don't even have to have in hand?

Yes, it is extremely hard to fill the yard in standard at the moment, especially a ridiculous number like 7 cards, unless we are going to get some new enablers in this set.

Well, sure, maybe this will be lackluster in standard. But most of the comments bashing this were missing a disclaimer saying they were only talking about it being bad in standard. This card will be bonkers in multiple formats. Forget the body, just imagine this being treasure cruise, only castable from the graveyard.

Treasure Cruise only wants 5 cards in the graveyard if you want to cast it for 2 mana, and you can cast it from hand for that cheap cost. You need to dump this guy if you want it for 2 mana and it eats 8 graveyard cards. It doesn't compare favourably to Haunted Dead in Modern Dredge because if I'm getting Haunted Dead out of the graveyard, it's often because I'm desperate to dredge in the first place.

Well, Treasure Cruise wants 6 cards in the yard if you cast it for 2, but for sure the escape part needs a slightly bigger yard. You're probably right this is not perfect for dredge. But rather than saying this card is worse than TC because you need to dump it in the yard to cast it for cheap, I would say it offers a whole world of value because you GET to dump it in the yard. Arclight Phoenix needs to get dumped in the yard, but you wouldn't say it's a worse Chandra's Phoenix because it has a slightly higher in-hand casting cost, would you? Now maybe with Looting gone from modern, this doesn't have a clear home yet, but it seems potentially abusable in something like a phoenix or dredge shell.
Good card, compares favorably to Mulldrifter.
Happy Fish draws 2, while this draws 3 but is riskier. Mulls can be a Divination, while this can be a weird Treasure Cruise wannabe while in the grave (in the sense it requires heavy GY investment but is very cheap and draws 3). Mulldrifter is a 2/2 flier, while Ox is a 4/2 on the ground (5/3 if Escaped).
Of course, this is all ignoring the fact that Mulldrifter is Blue, the color that's supposed to have efficient card draw. The fact that this is Red pretty much ensures it'll be a popular Commander pick, and its potential for Modern shouldn't be understated either. As for Standard... ehh, maybe, but unless we have some REALLY efficient self-mill enablers, I doubt it.
