You're proposing a 6/6 for 4 mana that you'd have to hit 6 times to kill? And if you didn't kill it, it would just take out your creatures left and right? And if you did kill it, it would immediately come back to repeat the whole thing but with twice the power?
Sure. Oathsworn Knight, Phantom Nishoba and it’s phantom kin. That’s a pretty normal ability. And this is a mythic and a legendary. 6/6s usually don’t die in combat anyway so it’s not like you’re suddenly not killing something you’d have been able to kill before. And it still gets smaller after each block so you will eventually be able to do so.
More so Ugin's Conjurant than Phantom Nishoba. The Phantoms from that era are different, in that they prevent the damage no matter what. So even if it has no more +1/+1 counters on it, it prevents damage. Thats why Phantoms with Elephant Guide on them were beaters.
Hard card to evaluate. On one hand, it's an under costed beat stick with built in removal that can self recur once, maybe twice.
On the other hand, it gives your opponents sources wither against it, and is a lot of mana to sink for it not to be bad vanilla. I'm sure this guy will play similarly to the old one; eat mana dorks.
If this gets a toughness buff, say 0/+1, and still has a +1/+1 counter on it, it would still prevent all damage taken so long as it has a counter, right?
2BG for a 6/6 body is great.
3 mana at instant speed for it to fight anything is amazing.
the fact that it has no built in way to recover the counters it loses is a BIG letdown.
6/6 for 4 without any evasion at all wouldn't see play in today's standard....
one that loses a ton of power if it ever fights anything relevant or is blocked/burned is also a big drawback.
If I was to bet I'd say this thing is nowhere near good enough for constructed....
but stats are so inflated that I'm not really sure.

Its basically removal. You have it fight a bunch of stuff, it dies, you have it escape again, fight more stuff, it dies again, rinse repeat.
I personally hope there is a card that lets you return your exiled cards back into your graveyard (Similar to Pull from Eternity)
I’m getting tired of saying how amazing the art in this set is, but damn it, the art on this card is amazing
so happy to see Polukranos back! I do wish he had been mono green of course, but I understand why they added black. It’s a very interesting card. Especially in those colors

One of my favorite artists indeed. Here’s to hoping he has even more work in this set. If he painted thassa I will faint. Castaway’s Depair is one of my favorite artworks in MTG as well
I have to say though. Various artists really have delivered their A game in this set. Lius especially for example, but quite a few others.
Polukranos might be decent in my Atraxa counters deck. There's more than one way to skin a pig; I'll just keep adding more counters on it to negate the drawback on this card.

All you need is vigor you make vigors ability the alpha one when chosing then it’s the reverse effect he gains counters rather than lose them

This is exciting! Seems like some serious Commander shenanigans I can't wait to get into.
This card is actually insanely powerful. On its own, it will usually just be the biggest thing on the battlefield with a built in kill spell. Combine it with Gargos, Vicious Watcher and you have a 12/12 recurring from the grave for just GB and a few cards. Combine it with The Wanderer and you have a Murder with legs. There are tons of ways to give it trample or first/double strike which would make the shrinking effect negligible and close out most games quickly.
*shrug* Something like that. It should work at least some of the time. Yes, yes, I know--"but what if your opponent has removal"? If you presume that your opponent always has all the answers in hand then it doesn't matter what you run.
They could make it more powerfull giving it indestructible, but then any enchant or equip would make it a unfair card in limited.
With Heliod giving it lifelink you can have a 2GBW deal 1 damage and gain 1 life card
For limited just use Hydra's Growth for the win (just can't win vs gods but you can fight off their devotion)(one of the leaks, 2G enchant-aura ETB put a +1/+1; AtBoyU double the number of +1/+1 counters)

Cards I still want to see created:
|| Olantin, Lost City || Pavios and Thanasis || Choryu ||
Polukranos's controller chooses one prevention effect to apply. As either prevents all the damage, the other won't apply anymore.
Effectively, you get to ignore Polukranos's ability and just do Vigor's effect.

Turn 2: land, Hadana's Climb
Turn 3: land, Polukranos, it goes to 7/7, then the enchantment transforms
Turn 4: some inexpensive way to boost the zombie hydra's power by at least 3, activate the transformed land, attack for lethal?

The thing with this is it’s a Golgari voltron commander. Looks like a fun build.
I mean board wipe into 12/12 sounds like a play. Fight some chump blockers might come down to about 6/6 or 7/7. Still swings in for a lot.
It's crazy how the fate of a mythic can sway between a 1$ and like 50$
