Nice. Looks like erebos is the only one that kinda sucks
I know that’s probably the first time in history black got the short straw this time for the worst of the cycle
I don't think Erebos straight up sucks, though. In an aristocrats deck, especially with cards like Blood Artist or Cruel Celebrant it just become free card draw. His activated ability might be whatever, but his static ability could be abused in the right shell. Even with just Cauldron Familiar and Witch's Oven, you're getting a card for 1 life. Also, it's a may ability, so it won't kill you.

In Standard I can see him doing things and I plan on trying him out. However, is it that much better than Grim Haruspex or Midnight Reaper (which is still in Standard) for card draw? I get that he is tougher to get rid of but those come down earlier and are always creatures so can also attack. The main difference being that Erebos triggers off of tokens as well, but I am not sure how much that might matter.
Maybe the built in sac outlet is what pushes him over the edge. I do like sac outlets
I am not all that impressed with Erebos. I don't think he is terrible but I think he is the worst of the cycle. Maybe I just need to play a few games with him to see if that assessment is correct.

Oh no this version is fantastic no question about that
It’s just the cycle of gods he's probably the worst one of theros mono colored gods 2.0 cycle I’m not saying he’s a bad card just from cycle wise
Is this one of the first abilities that lets you exile a creature you don't own (say that you stole with Mass Manipulation) and return it to your control?
Don't forget Marchesa, the Black Rose and Nephalia Smuggler. Ok, technically Marchesa doesn't exile, but she does turn temporary theft into permanent theft, so new Thassa is a shoe-in for my build.
The constellation art depicts her with a Bident, but she isn’t carrying a new one in her main art? Do we have lore on her at all?
Called it on her name
The showcase art is depicting the gods' constellations which were presumably set in the sky long ago. Kind of a snapshot of the gods at their best, so that's why Thassa would still have her bident in her constellation. They won't change like the actual gods can when devotion changes them or they lose items. Hopefully we get more info on her new spearlike weapon.
I did consider that possibility as well, good point. I like how you explained it. I would like more information on her new spear and on her overall as well. I wonder if she has a blurb like Erebos and Heliod? I know Nylea and Purphoros didn’t sadly

"I knew I wanted Thassa classically posed, and was tasked with creating her bident weapon replacement (it's now a Grecian-styled fishing spear)."
Thank you for sharing! I miss when we would get the art descriptions. It does look like a Greek harpoon of sorts. I wonder how she got it though. Maro mentioned it on his blog earlier as well
Daxos: "I gain you life when creatures enter or die." Heliod: "I put +1/+1 coutners on stuff when you gain life." Daxos & Heliod: "Together we create strong synergy."
Callaphe: "I protect stuff with tax." Thassa: "I flicker and tap stuff." Callaphe & Thasa: "..."

One of these pairs isn't quiet like the other.
At least one of those pairs will remain a pair at the end of the block
Can't be forced to give back creatures if nobody runs theft protection. (attached image for emphasis)
Throw Willbreaker in there also. You can steal off creatures using Thassa ability then blink them to release them from Willbreaker's condition.
Yep defintely bought one of those when assembling the deck. Other thing to think of would be a Strionic Resonator so you can potentially perma-steal two creatures in the same turn OR perma-steal one and reset another (Like Cytoplast Manipulator or Sower of Temptation)
Mono black splash blue:
3: woe strider
4: thassa - blink strider or blink that 2 drop creature that makes opponent discard a card
5: double proc Gary
6: double proc the 6 drop chupacabra or proc Gary again
This card is a cheaper indestructible yarok with a much much much higher floor and lower ceiling.
This is one of the best cards of the set. Just an opinion but it's the 2nd best card of the set besides uro

I think Thassa is better than Uro actually. Time Will tell.
People should jam this thing into any deck they build. I used to, but then a friend of mine made a crappy Beckett Brass deck i felt like a jerk using it

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.

they should... but they don't. i think a big part of it is that it's somewhat difficult to come by still, and when you don't face any theft effects consistently it just feels like a dead land that you wish was producing colored mana

He also is the only one that directly fills his devotion requirement
Nylea does indirectly

Cheer up, it’s not like this signifies anything permanent.
As for the card, seems like she might like a Biomancer’s Familiar or two.
Too bad she won’t benefit when she’s not a creature.
- Overtaker
- Helm of Possession
- Vedalken Shackles
- Seasinger
- Cytoplast Manipulator
- Simic Manipulator
- Callous Oppressor
- Strionic Resonator
