This seems pretty good. Flexible and comes online as early as turn 3. Holding it up turn 4 for either counter spell or draw 2 is good, and late game the X is double, so you can still counter something when they have a lot of mana.
Dig Through Time (if you spend 6 mana) without delve sounds pretty bad (yes, I know--look at top 6 versus look at top 7, but those are very close) but "scry x, draw 2" sounds pretty good, even though it doesn't really count as a "draw" effect.
That double blue makes this unplayable. X is terrible at every point on the curve and all you're getting is a 1 for 1 no matter how much mana you pay.
your undervaluing the fact that this card has 2 modes, 1 of which is pretty amazing at instant speed and the other mode is still useful because it can still counter even when the opponent has a ton of mana. This card will easily see play in U/G flash and will most likely see play any control deck with blue in it. The double blue isn't a very big deal for most decks.
Finally! I have suffered for days to see this card at last. Now show is Heliod’s Intervention already! Also, where is the blurb for Thassa? Come on!
As for this beauty.
Foremost, I see that my love Zack Stella was consistently commissioned to depict Thassa and Callaphe for Theros, which I am exceptionally pleased with. The art is beautiful! I just adore this card! I asked Maro during the Amonket block if we could please have cards depicting the gods casting spells (because cards like Thassa’s Rebuff were dull without depicting the actual god spell casting. Who better to see using magic than a Theros god?) I am so delighted and gleeful to see that with Theros, we got a cycle of gods casting spells in the art! And remarkable art at that!!!!
Now. The double blue really hurt this spell, specifically it’s second mode.
That said, I love the first mode a lot. I Was worried it would just end up being another X draw spell but I actually prefer what they ended up doing here, and the innovation of the first mode. I have also been wanting a good Thassa counterspell, Since my sea monster deck lacks a thematic counterspell. This card filled that niche perfectly by being on theme and giving my deck some access to ocean related counter magic. I just love love love it!
You can cast this for X=2 with the first mode and it's already Inspiration. The option to dig with it for more mana or cast it as basically Synocpate is quite good. Will surely see some play.
We have had all of these Thassa Cards revealed and yet no blurb or lore about any of them? Nothing about her marching into war (like Nylea’s Intervention) or about her new spear? She appears to be using it but I’d would have liked to know if Purphoros made it for her, what it does, etc. or at least understand her motivations for this art. Is she opposing Heliod here (Sea God’s Scorn) or something else?
I think the numbers on this make it playable and good in a control deck but not busted. The modal aspect and the fact that this is pretty solid at all points on the curve is nice. Seriously top decking this late gives you the option of the two best cards in 5 or 6 and it can still counter something if you need to. That was always my biggest problem with syncopate and others like this. Early a 3 mana quench or an inspiration isn't exactly... inspiring, but you do still get to pick between the two which is nice. Having my counterspell have relavent text when a teferi is in play is also nice. Modal spells really are at there best in a control deck.

Counter spell unless they pay twice x wow 5 mana into it is all you need to say nope of paying
? I think maybe you misread the first ability. It is a 2 for 1 if x>=2.
