Wizards of the coast is greedy because they dont release a secret lair with liliana of the veil. She is the poster girl of magic. So I wont believe the feminist trend. They dont want more women in the game they want more money.
Wait, wouldn't more women playing (therefore more players buying product) bring them more money? What even is this argument, I don't understand at all?
Because at the end of the day they always choose subpar cards for these "inclusive" products. Take this for example, wizards could easily have choose Liliana of the veil for a secret lair. She is the better value out of the box for multiple reasons
-The card is more expensive
-The character is more important. liliana appears prominently in the youtube ad
-She represent a powerful and independent woman both in the lore and the card (Liliana of the veil)
-She is not in the reserved list
Make my words they will never release a liliana of the veil secret lair
I think we will get boxes with individual fetch lands before Liliana of the Veil.

It's not a surprise they don't often choose top tier cards for products like this, nor am I convinced they need to if the goal is honoring and attracting female players. At least insofar as your list is concerned. Thalia is fun, useful, these arts are nice, and the card is relatively simple (thus more accessible for newer players). This will sell, it'll likely attract new players as well as any special repack from this line, and WotC can hold onto Liliana until such a time to really maximize profit off of her. Products like this aren't really where you'd utilize your highest tier cards, it's where you reuse decent cards that could benefit from a reprint with new art.
Thalia in regular print costs about $7, so you are getting at least $28 value for a $30 product with a full playset. If this was Marche's offering alone, that would be dandy.
I only got really one gripe with it, and that is the window of purchase of a slim 24 hours.
Because that way they finally will give us a more that just dencent product. The last good value out of the box product we got was premium deck series graveborn. No wonder they discontinued that too much good value in there, it was indecent. By the way Thalia, Guardian of Thraben is like 5 bucks.
Because that way they finally will give us a more that just dencent product.
Well that's why *you* want them to do things differently, but my question still remains: what is WotC's incentive?
It seems to me that as long as they can turn a good profit off repackaging middling cards with new art and flavor, they're going to. If they pull the numbers they want without having to reprint the cards you seem to want them to, they aren't likely to do it.

Any point you’re trying to make is moot after a ridiculous statement like that.
Graveborn was 2011, so you’re discounting the ENTIRE LINE of Commander decks (36x), as well as Challenger decks (8x), Guild kits (10x), FTV Angels, Legends, and Realms, and Brawl decks (4x) among others. If you can’t find value in any of those OVER SIXTY products, that’s entirely on you, and your ability to judge products is questionable at best, and laughable at worst. Why would you continue to participate in a hobby you’ve been unable to derive value in going on 9 years?

It's tempting to look at Lair based on current value. Thalia has already dropped to $5 for NM copies on TCG in advance of this printing. Foils can now be found for around $10. Encourage anyone thinking about Lairs in terms of current market value to go back and look at card prices before and after printings. Similar to other reprints existing cards take a huge beating with these things.

So I must leave magic because you say so? Because I want more valuable cards in the non booster products?. Or is because you accept everything they do even this inclusion trend thats has nothing to do with make more people play the game. You want more people to play the game? Lower the cost of entry. Or perhaps you are happy playing your "exclusive" expensive game with the same dudes over and over again.
Putting aside the presumption here that your assertions are correct, is Thalia not an example of a strong female character?
Liliana is stronger she can kill half your board and is at the same level as jace beleren. Is no rocket science there is a reason those cards are so expensive. Puting a secret lair with liliana of the veil gives you a nice entry to competitive modern. O wait this game IS expensive I forgot about that.
People please just knock this BS off. No one is forced into buying this product and if they do then they shouldn't be ashamed of doing so. It's about preference and what makes you tick. You have no right to determine or decide what I like or do not.

I'm going to say this once again, just because we do not have to buy the product doesn't mean that it shouldn't be criticized for the things that it does wrong. Everything has faults and it needs to be known. I won't judge people for buying this or others, but because I don't have to buy it doesn't mean I'm not going to express my concerns with these small FTVs being pumped out near three times a month.

So far we're at one per month, for four consecutive months. The going rate for a booster box is $120 at my LGS (they're a bit inflated), which is roughly equivalent to a $40 SL drop each month for the same release period. So unless you're actually inclined to buy every SL drop, you might already be used to paying that same amount, except that here you get a known quantity and have vastly better odds of estimating the value in advance.
I'm betting that many or most of us, as gamers, also have a budget for video games hard-baked into our monthly allowance. That's what, $60? It seems to me that all of the grumbling here boils down to "I can't own everything, but I want to." And that's okay, that's a perfectly human emotion to possess, but at the end of the day all Wizards is truly guilty of is offering consumers more options. Do I buy that video game, or the Secret Lair? Do I buy Secret Lairs or wait for that next booster box to go on pre-order? Those are questions we're forced to answer, as adults, on a daily basis.
Putting aside the presumption here that your assertions are correct, is Thalia not an example of a strong female character?
Not to be a troll but I've never understood why people care about her as a character. In original Innistrad she could have been replaced with any Sue, John, or Nancy and in Shadows she just killed angels which didn't really solve the problem at hand. In both cases planeswalkers were the real driving force of the plot. She reminds me of Indiana Jones in Raiders sure she does some stuff but the plot moves with or without her in the picture.

If you don't care about the people living on the plane then this is correct. Otherwise, it's so far off that I question whether you've read the story for Shadows.
Thalia was the beacon of hope for the world that was going mad. She roamed the plains telling everyone that the protection and threat of Avacyn were gone and gave them a method of fighting back against the encroaching darkness. Certainly, the plot went just fine elsewhere but the plane and its people were focused on Thalia.

Show me where I said you need to leave Magic? I’ll wait here while you point it out. Oh, I didn’t. I asked a very legitimate question (still unanswered), and that is why continue playing a game or supporting a company that hasn’t satisfied you in nearly a decade? YOU made the statement that there is no value in over 60 products.
I never mentioned anything about “exclusive” or
“expensive” products. What I listed were $20 brawl decks, $20 guild kits, and $30-$40 Commander decks. Each one of those featured complete decks. So, to recap your incompetence:
— You claim no sealed products of value in 9 years (hilariously false, to the point of embarrassment)
— made a claim I told you to quit (also false)
— made a claim that $20-$40 completely playable out of the box products are somehow the playground of the wealthy. (false again. Three strikes, you’re out.)
Does that sum up your foolishness, or is there still more? You’re terrible at this.
They're not going to print super expensive cards in Secret Lair products, and here's why.
It would reduce many players' financial incentive to play the game. While this isn't super important, many players buy into sets with the hopes of obtaining hot money cards, so if cards get devalued, a lot of players have less incentive to open packs, which hurts sales.
It would piss off players who already dropped big money on those cards. While I don't think this should be used as an excuse to not lower the barrier to entry for older formats, many players would be highly upset if the cards that they spent so much money on their decks were to suddenly plummet in value thanks to a Secret Lair drop. One of the only safety nets in Magic is the ability to liquidate your cards if you ever leave the game, so fewer players would want to put their money toward a game that runs a high risk of a low return on investment. Again, this hurts sales.
It would damage buyer confidence. Yes, it would make certain cards more affordable, but if Liliana dropped to $15 overnight because of a Secret Lair announcement, then would you feel confident in buying copies of Thoughtseize for $30 if they might drop the value to $10 next month? Would you buy Scalding Tarns for $60 if they might fall to $20?
Now, if we get to the point where they somehow eventually made ALL of the non-Reserved List cards more affordable, that would be great for players getting into the game, but the aforementioned financial incentive would no longer be there and I suspect that a good number of the preexisting players would get fed up and not want to support the game anymore. Tournament Magic would lose a portion of its player base, which, once again, hurts sales. I'm sure it would recover over time, but who knows.
Some of these points are redundant, I know.
Disclaimer: Yes, I understand that Magic is a hobby for many people and that the financial value of their cards shouldn't dictate whether or not they play the game. I'm simply explaining why Wizards wouldn't choose to print things like Liliana of the Veil in this product.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
They're not going to print super expensive cards in Secret Lair products, and here's why.

So far we're at one per month, for four consecutive months.
It definitely hasn't been one a month. December we had 7 different ones, January there was one, February there was five (but I'll count it as one per the theme), and March we already have two confirmed. In total that's 15 (or 10 if you want to count Theros) in 4 months. Either way one is average more than three a month and the other is two and a half. Honestly, as someone that hasn't wanted to buy any of these so far, it's a bit much, product wise.
I'm betting that many or most of us, as gamers, also have a budget for video games hard-baked into our monthly allowance. That's what, $60? You may have a point with some not getting everything they desire, but I do think it's more wallet fatigue or just getting tired of all of these products they are pumping out. There was already enough products last year and this year there are even more coming forward, between normal Standard sets, a couple supplementary sets a year, a few random products here or there they had enough, but now we add in Secret Lairs, Commander Green, extra commander decks, brawl decks, theme packs, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few more.
Honestly, at this point I'm more looking for a reason to buy the product. I'll buy a fat pack of each set, maybe a few boosters, and get singles every so often, and I'll get Commander decks, but that's about it for me. Right now Wizards really has to sell me the set and why I should buy it, and with more and more products coming out they need to try much harder to try and get me to relinquish my cash and when some continued product lines are getting worse (like Commander is with poor reprints the last few years) it really just makes me comfortable knowing I will keep more of my money.
Even if they did a Liliana version of this, they could achieve it with one of her middling cards, you still wouldn't get Liliana of the Veil.
Because Wizards acknowledges secondary. Which they are not supposed to do.
Hah. The Reserved List is an unofficially huge acknowledgement of the secondary market if there ever was one. If they didn't acknowledge (or care) about the secondary market, there would've been no reserved list.
#justsaying
Both Thalia and Liliana are/would be fine candidates. Slinky seductress aside, Liliana could demonstrate the fact that she is a "troubled" woman who is being held against her will (the curse) trying to make things right even if it means going about things in a shady manner. Almost a form of glorified escape-from-"domestic" abuse. Thalia was witness to corruption within the church and escaped to destroy the lingering "evil" on her own will, going to whatever lengths it took to do so.
Begs the question: which is more deserving than the other? It's all relative for the most part.
I'm happy with Thalia nonetheless.

And that's okay, that's a perfectly human emotion to possess, but at the end of the day all Wizards is truly guilty of is offering consumers more options. Do I buy that video game, or the Secret Lair? Do I buy Secret Lairs or wait for that next booster box to go on pre-order? Those are questions we're forced to answer, as adults, on a daily basis.

Gaze upon an empty, white throne
A legacy of lies,
A familiar disguise
Sing with me a song of conquest and fate
The black pillar cracks beneath its weight
Night breaks through the day, hard as a stone
Lost in thoughts all alone
I watched Thoughtseize drop from $80 to $10 and didn't get butthurt. This game has always had big crashes due to reprints...

Hah. The Reserved List is an unofficially huge acknowledgement of the secondary market if there ever was one. If they didn't acknowledge (or care) about the secondary market, there would've been no reserved list.
